Emmerdale fans see Kim Tate's life left on the line next month, after a shocking accident leaves her gravely injured ? and it's all Sam Dingle's fault. Unable to move and desperate for help, will the Tate tycoon be left to die alone in the woods?
The drama begins as the Dingles' cashflow crisis escalates. Money has been tight for months, and Sam has felt guilty at not being able to provide for his family. Fed up with feeling useless, surly Sam gets into a blazing row with Joe Tate, telling his smug boss exactly what he thinks of him.
Riled-up Sammy ends up quitting his job in a strop, which doesn't help his precarious financial situation?
"Lydia is absolutely livid," our Emmerdale source reveals. "She doesn't understand why Sam has done this when they're so skint.
"And Christmas is around the corner, so how are they supposed to fund the festive season? Fuming with her husband, she orders him to beg Joe for his job back."
With his tail between his legs, Sam is forced to ask Joe for another chance. Unsurprisingly, Mr Tate refuses, so Lydia takes matters into her own hands?
Confronting Joe, Lydia tries to appeal to his better nature ? but he obviously doesn't have one. When Joe refuses to rehire Sam, Kim steps in, but it still doesn't make the situation much better.
Considering Kim to be a close friend, Lydia is disappointed at her pal's lack of sympathy for the Dingles' predicament, and feels she's taking Joe's side. Even though Sam threw his toys out of the pram, Kim can't see that Joe is also at fault for the way he treats his employee.
Lydia questions her loyalty to Kim, especially when she sees the stingy donation her minted boss has made to the village Christmas fayre. Turning on the Tates, Sam offers Lydia a risky way to get one up on the wealthy clan?
"Sam plans to use the grounds of Home Farm for a dodgy shooting party behind Kim's back," our spy reveals. "It's a quick way of making cash, and getting the better of the Tates. But it's also illegal ? and potentially very dangerous."
Lydia is on board with Sam's deceit, and agrees to distract Kim at the village fayre to keep her away from Home Farm. This allows her hubby to hand out the rifles for his guests to hunt game on the grounds ? and rake in the readies he's charging for the hush-hush event.
Despite being worried when he thinks Vanessa Woodfield has spotted what he's up to, Sam presses on with his secret money-making scheme. Vexed Vanessa then collars Kim and confides what she spied up at Home Farm. Concerned that her land is being used for something dodgy, Kim decides to head up to the big house to investigate?
Meanwhile, Sam is stressed managing the shifty shoot as his guests become more demanding. He's beginning to regret the whole thing, but the day is about to take an explosive turn. Kim is on her way ? will she catch Sam in the act?
"Kim wants to know if someone's using Home Farm without permission," our insider explains. "However, she gets more than she bargained for ? the next time we see her, she's lying on the ground, seriously wounded.
"It appears she may have been caught in the crossfire of some stray bullets, as she's hurt her leg and can't get up. There's nobody around, and Kim is praying she's found soon. But there's no sign of any help?"
Will Kim perish in the freezing woodland, or will the locals raise the alarm realising she's not returned from her recce? And what consequences will there be for Sam if it turns out he is responsible for Kim's crisis?
These scenes air on Thursday 11 December.

Emmerdale's Kerry Wyatt is left horrified next month when she discovers that she has been caught up in Eric Pollard's latest financial scheme. She rages at her long-time pal as she finds out about his criminal plot, but could this mark the end of their friendship?
At the start of the week, Kerry gets the shock of her life when it comes to her attention that a new bank account has been set up under her name ? containing a whopping ?15,000. She is initially overjoyed by her random windfall and is desperate to splash the cash, but Jacob Gallagher quickly brings her back down to earth.
The trainee doctor sensibly points out that if Kerry spends this mystery money, she could be implicating herself in someone's fraudulent ploy. But it isn't long before Jacob tells his grandad about Kerry's dilemma, and Eric is alarmed when he realises that his sneaky plan has been exposed.
Pollard waits until he and Kerry are alone, before answering her questions and breaking the news that he is her anonymous benefactor.
"Kerry is stunned and confused by Eric's revelation," our Emmerdale insider reveals. "But as the conversation continues, she soon gathers exactly what he's done ? he's gone behind her back and used her to siphon tax-free money to Jacob. Kerry's furious that her mate has done this without her consent, and her fierce reaction leaves Eric heartbroken."
?Eric is left red-faced over Kerry's discovery," our source adds. "It's a complete betrayal, and Kerry doesn't react well to learning the truth. But things aren't quite as they seem, and there's an emotional reason behind Pollard's actions?"
Eric attempts to appeal to Kerry by explaining just why he has resorted to these underhand tactics. He reminds her that seemingly expectant father Jacob could face a very uncertain future, with a child to provide for alone if Sarah Sugden tragically dies at a young age.
Of course, we know full well that Charity is actually carrying her own child rather than Sarah and Jacob's. But Eric remains unaware of this, so just wants to guarantee that his grandson won't have to worry about putting food on the table. His rationale for this scheme is thankfully enough to smooth things over with Kerry?
"Kerry can't help but sympathise with Eric's situation," shares our spy. "As his Parkinson's disease progresses, he wants to make sure Jacob is looked after when he's gone.
"It was only ever meant to be a kind gesture, but he's just gone about it in completely the wrong way. Kerry forgives Eric and vows to stand by him, but that's not the only thing she agrees to?"
As they make friends, Kerry reminds Pollard that she will happily help him with anything ? as long as he asks her about it first. Will Kerry be an important ally for Eric as things get tough?
These scenes air on Tuesday 9 December and Wednesday 10 December.

Emmerdale will unleash a surprise Neighbours tribute next week as Lydia Dingle's Christmas story escalates. With the Australian soap airing its final episode on Thursday (11 December), the Dales will see the appearance of a familiar face, 'Especially for You'.
Recent episodes have seen Sam Dingle trying to get his hands on Jason Donovan concert tickets as a magical Christmas gift for his wife Lydia. His first attempt to secure the cash to buy the tickets got him fired from his job, as Joe Tate realised he was stealing trees from Home Farm.
Desperate Sam then fell victim to a nasty online scam when he used a dodgy link to pay for some 'VIP' tickets from Tracy Robinson. He later discovered his neighbour's phone had been hacked and all of his money was gone.
Upcoming episodes will see Sam telling his wife the devastating truth about their financial issues when he finds her excitedly preparing for the concert. The pair join forces as they attempt another money-making scheme to save their Christmas.
Next week, Sam plans a dodgy shoot on Home Farm land in order to make some quick cash. He hands out rifles for his party guests to hunt game on the grounds.
Meanwhile, annoyed by the stingy raffle donation and Joe's treatment of Sam, Lydia agrees to distract Kim Tate at the Christmas Fayre. However, Kim has planned a big surprise for her friend and demands she heads over to the event.
When Lydia arrives at the Woolpack, she is gobsmacked to see her idol Jason Donovan in front of her very eyes. The Australian singer and Neighbours star performs a private concert in the pub, making Lydia's dreams come true.
The scenes, airing on Thursday 11 December, are a fitting tribute to Neighbours which will air its final episode that same day, marking an end to its 40-year run. Digital Spy understands that the timing of the cameo is coincidental, but Jason's appearance will be a delightful nod to the long-running soap.
Meanwhile, back on the farm, things go predictably wrong for Sam when Vanessa Woodfield notices the dodgy shoot and tips Kim off. The businesswoman heads over to investigate but is left in grave danger after being hit by a stray bullet.
Will someone discover her in time, or will her calls for help fall on deaf ears?
