EastEnders? Eve Panesar-Unwin welcomes her mum to Albert Square next week. But newcomer Norma (played by Jessica Turner) tears down her daughter, leading Eve to inform Suki that she no longer wants to go ahead with their adoption plans!

Even after Eve and Suki do all they can to impress Norma, their efforts fail to work out as they hoped.

In the aftermath, Norma cruelly makes a comment about her daughter?s capabilities as a mum, forcing Eve to believe that she should give up on her plans to adopt a child with Suki?

"Norma is a bit of a slippery fish," reveals Heather Peace, who plays Eve. "It?s very obvious she doesn?t really approve of Suki and Eve?s relationship.

"Norma has her nose in the air a lot of the time, and she toys with them a little bit too. As the week goes on, there are some twists and turns, but when they start talking about proper stuff, it all blows up again?"

When Norma first arrives in Walford, Eve is clearly nervous about her mum?s presence. However, Suki and Eve maintain a united front and tell Norma about their hopes to adopt together, along with the fact that they need a reference from her to go ahead.

"Eve believes that the entire adoption process relies on this reference," explains Heather. ?She can get other references, but they specifically requested one from before Eve had a criminal record.

"It might be that she can search around and find someone else, but the adoption assessor said it would be best coming from a parent or sibling."

After some initial doubt, Norma eventually agrees to writing a reference for her daughter.

However later in the week, Eve and Suki?s attempts to prove themselves are thrown back in their face when Norma outright questions Eve as a future mum.

"Norma is uptight, and I think she?s a bit of a narcissist," muses Heather. "When she first arrives, it?s all pleasantries and politeness, but that?s just surface stuff. As soon as anyone touches on anything deeper, it all starts to unravel."

Following the nasty exchange, Eve struggles to block out the shocking remarks made to her. She is so hurt that she takes Suki aside to explain that she wants to put a stop to their adoption journey.

In response, Suki turns to Lily for help, knowing that the teenager has shared a sweet relationship with her mum?s best friend over the years.

Can either Suki or Lily persuade Eve to change her mind? Or will Eve insist that she?s not cut out for being a mum?
