joe knocks down jimmy

Emmerdale's Jimmy King is left fighting for his life next week after he's knocked down by a car ? which just happens to be driven by his arch-enemy Joe Tate. As shockwaves ripple through the village, speculation is rife as to whether this was really an accident, or a calculated act of revenge from the Tates.
The recent incident between youngsters Carl and Clemmie has sparked a bitter feud between the wealthy Home Farm family and the King clan ? but did Joe deliberately try to kill Jimmy?
Early next week, despite Dawn Fletcher's efforts to get Carl properly punished for sharing an indecent image of Clemmie, the police confirm they will be taking no further action.
This goes down like a lead balloon with Dawn, who's devastated that Carl's getting away with causing the little girl she sees as her own daughter such distress. And when Dawn's partner Joe hears the news, he's fuming?
"Joe reckons this is outrageous," our Emmerdale source explains. "He knows how protective Dawn feels towards Clemmie, and how she blames herself for taking her eye off the ball and letting this incident happen in the first place. Joe wants proper justice for Clemmie ? and he's prepared to do anything to get it?"
Angry Joe is still seething when he's later driving out of the village, to the point where he's perhaps not paying as much attention to the road as he should be.
Distracted while his foot is on the peddle, Joe momentarily loses concentration and hits somebody. And when getting out of the car, the Tate tycoon realises, to his horror, he's run Jimmy over.
"Joe is in a state of shock," our insider explains. "The whole thing happened in a split-second. Jimmy is lying on the floor, battered and bruised ? and it's all Joe's fault. Considering the beef between them, Joe will have some explaining to do. But there is a witness?"
Surveying the scene, Joe ponders his next move. If he quickly flees the scene, could he get away with this? Then he clocks that somebody has seen the collision from afar ? none other than Caleb Miligan.
Forced into owning up to running over his rival, Joe dials 999 while suspicious Caleb wonders what exactly went on. Jimmy is rushed to hospital, where Joe faces some tough questions?
Nicola is informed of her husband's condition and races to his sickbed. Desperate to understand how her other half ended up unconscious on the side of the road, she jumps to her own conclusions when she sees the police interviewing Joe.
Knowing he was driving the car, narked Nico becomes convinced this was a premeditated attack from the toxic Tates. Despite how it looks, shaken Joe denies this and insists it was genuinely accidental. But this doesn't wash with the incandescent Mrs King?
"As if Nicola needed any more reason to hate the Tates. She's certain Joe did this on purpose, and plans to tell the police all about his vicious vendetta against her family," our source says.
"Dawn hoped they could all draw a line under this unsavoury business, now Nicola's telling everyone Joe tried to do away with her hubby."
Can Joe prove his innocence? And if Jimmy doesn't survive, will the war between the Kings and the Tates claim its first victim?

Emmerdale's Dylan Penders is torn between good and evil next week, as the lad finds himself trapped in the middle of the new life he's forged in the village, and the old one with Ray Walters. But which will he choose?
"Just as Dylan starts to feel on the up for once, Ray's on his back more than ever," explains our Emmerdale insider. "Not only is Dylan forced to steal from Caleb's depot on Ray's orders, but he's also left torn when a job Ray gives him clashes with a day out that Paddy Dingle has planned for them.
"Will poor Dylan accept that, in the end, he may have no choice but to follow Ray's orders? Or will he fight back?"
As the week begins, Dylan strikes lucky when Marlon Dingle offers him a shift in the Woolpack kitchen. Marlon asks Dylan in the hope that keeping him nearby will help him to keep an eye on his daughter April Windsor.
However, the lad is just grateful for the work, desperate to make more money to pay off his debt to Ray.
Later, Dylan is further thrilled when Paddy gives him a rally-driving experience to reward him for passing his driving test. However, Dylan's about to be brought down to earth big time.
As Ray and his mum Celia meet to discuss April and Dylan ? with April having become a particular problem after pulling out of a job ? it's clear they have more sinister plans for both teens.
Later, Ray visits Dylan and demands that he steals the drive schedules from the depot so that Ray knows which lorries are going where and when.
Dylan feels he has no choice but to agree. His heart is in his mouth as he snoops around Caleb's office, and there's a close shave when he's caught out by Jai Sharma. However, he manages to cover and sneak away with the paperwork.
Ray is pleased with Dylan's work and offers him another job for the following day. Dylan's heart sinks, as he realises that's the day he's due on his rallying experience with Paddy. He turns the job down, but will Ray take no for an answer?
"Dylan feels such loyalty to Paddy and is so grateful for all he's done for him ? he'd really been looking forward to them spending the time together," our insider says.
"Saying no to Ray takes a lot of guts, but when Ray reminds him in no uncertain terms about his mounting debt, can Dylan really stick to his guns?"

Emmerdale's Robert Sugden and Aaron Dingle finally got back together recently, but the ITV soap teased that the reunion might have been doomed from the start, as Robert secretly has a husband named Kev who he married in prison. And Kev has been released and is living in the village.
Of course, Robert hasn't told Aaron about Kev, but that's set to change next week. Well, Robert isn't going to tell him, but Aaron will find out...
In scenes set to air next week, Robert arrives at Keepers and is shocked to see Victoria talking to Kev. Victoria soon starts asking questions, and urges Robert to explain the whole truth to Aaron.
Later on, Aaron and Kev bump into each other at the caf?. Robert manages to keep his secret a secret for the time being, but the anxiety about whether he can maintain his double-life is getting to him.
Later on, Victoria convinces Robert to call things off with Kev, while Aaron unexpectedly announces that he's back with Robert in front of the whole Woolpack.
Robert confronts Kev and tells him that he's worried about his underlying aggression. Kev promises to do better, but it's clear that he's got his own suspicions about Robert. Aaron can similarly sense that something is wrong.
It all builds up to Kev giving Robert a big old kiss in front of everyone. Including Aaron.
The secret is officially out.
"Robert's mortified when Aaron spots him and Kev together," our Emmerdale source reveals. "But it was surely only a matter of time with both guys living in the same village!
"Aaron just wants a fresh start with Robert after so much drama with John, but will this betrayal send Robron straight back to square one?"
