EastEnders' Peter Beale pulls out all the stops to arrange a covert wedding for Lauren Branning next week ? but will she agree to marry him when he pops the question? As Peter puts Lauren on the spot, there's a sense that the couple are at a crossroads.

In a bid to secure his future with Lauren, Peter organises a surprise ceremony in The Vic. But with his bride-to-be in the dark, she might not even show up. Has Peter judged this all wrong, or will Lauren affirm her commitment to him?

"Lauren does a runner on their big day," our EastEnders source explains. "She already has huge doubts about marrying Peter, and now he's completely blindsided her with these plans. It's clear these two aren't on the same page."

Peter was left questioning his relationship after Lauren reacted with indifference following his recent flirtation with another woman. Confused about where he stands, Peter puts plans in place for a surprise wedding, eager to show Lauren how he truly feels. He bosses his family around and tries to send Lauren on a spa day. However, she has other ideas?

Lauren and Penny go for drinks instead of the spa, both oblivious to what's happening at The Vic. Concerned for her cousin, Penny sows seeds of doubt in Lauren's mind. Is Peter what she really wants?

Meanwhile, Peter's surprise is all in place, as Lauren walks into her surprise wedding?

"Lauren is left reeling when she discovers Peter's plan," our insider continues. "The pub's all decked out and Peter's suited and booted. Can she really say no and humiliate him when he's gone to so much effort?"

Lauren reluctantly agrees to Peter's grand gesture and heads home to change. Penny senses her cousin's heart isn't in it, but Lauren forges ahead, before it all becomes too much and she flees. Yet she later arrives back at the pub, ready to say her vows?

EastEnders airs a dramatic double shock for Stacey Slater next week. Not only does her ex-lover Max Branning make a surprise return to Walford, she also discovers he's been having a secret affair with her cousin Zoe.

The bombshells come as Stacey prepares to leave for a new start in Brazil, but will Max's unexpected reappearance change her plans?

A new storyline sees big brother Sean ask Stacey to live with him in Brazil, but Lily eventually decides that she doesn't want to go as it would be disruptive for her little girl Charli.

After much to-ing and fro-ing among the family about whether Stacey should stay or go, she announces at her leaving drinks that she's changed her mind and will remain in Walford after all.

Lily fears her mother has made the wrong decision, unaware of the drama about to unfold?

With the locals gathered for the surprise wedding that Peter Beale has sprung on Lauren Branning, excitement mounts in a packed Queen Vic. Adding to the tension of whether the couple will tie the knot is the last-minute arrival of a very special guest ? the father of the bride is here.

As Max surveys the scene of stunned faces, Stacey reels ? while Zoe puts on her best game face.

Nobody knows that Max and Zoe hooked up earlier this year away from the Square, and how badly their fling ended. Believing their dalliance was done and dusted, Zoe is seriously shaken to see him.

Oblivious, for now, that she's not the only Slater siren Max has history with, Stacey makes it clear she wants nothing to do with her ex. But considering their complicated history, could there still be unfinished business between them?

Kat clocks Zoe chatting to Max and warns him off her daughter, not realising this isn't the first time they've met.

Meanwhile, Stacey is so flustered by her old flame's presence that she has second thoughts about moving to Brazil. After encouragement from Lily and Zoe, Stacey does a U-turn and decides to get on the plane after all, but not before Max corners her wanting to catch up. Despite her defences being up, can Stacey really resist Max after all these years?

While Stacey struggles with her emotions, she later spies him snogging someone else from across the Square ? and can't believe who it is.

"When Stacey sees Max and Zoe kiss, it's such a shock," reveals Lacey Turner, who plays the EastEnders favourite.

"She had no idea they even knew each other. She's in such disbelief and feels betrayed by Zoe, but this is typical Max behaviour. Seeing them together confirms Stacey needs to go to Brazil?"

Will Stacey settle her score with Max and Zoe before leaving town? Or will ladies' man Max try and charm her into staying, for old times' sake?

Peter and his loved ones put the plans in place for Lauren's surprise wedding. However, the timing could be awkward as some comments from Penny cast doubt on Lauren and Peter's relationship.

Later, Lauren and Penny arrive at The Vic to meet up with Peter, but they're shocked to find that the pub has been set up for a wedding. Setting his plan in motion, Peter asks Lauren to marry him?

Meanwhile, Lily is adamant that she and Charli will be staying in Walford, rather than heading off to Brazil with Stacey. When Stacey arrives at The Albert for her leaving drinks, she reveals that she's decided to stay in Walford after all. However, Stacey seems to be covering her true feelings and Lily fears that her mum has made the wrong choice.

Elsewhere, Okie is attacked after tensions with another drug gang. Harry helps with the clean-up, but this lands him in Gina's bad books when he's a no-show before the wedding.

Lauren reluctantly agrees to the wedding, before heading off to No.25 to get ready. Penny senses that Lauren is overwhelmed ? and her theory seems to be bang on the money as Lauren attempts to flee.

Later, as the occasion gets under way, will Lauren go through with it? And what will happen when Max arrives?

Meanwhile, Harry asks Nicola to help him get out of his debt with Ravi once and for all. Nicola intervenes by threatening to call Ravi's bosses if he continues manipulating her son.

Later, Ravi makes it clear to Okie that Kojo and the flat will remain vital to their operation.

Elsewhere, Jasmine faces trouble with the Slaters after demanding that they pay for their drinks up front.

Max's return shocks the residents of Walford ? with Stacey and Zoe particularly surprised. However, Max's first focus is Lauren and Peter.

Kat tries to keep Zoe and Max after spotting them talking, but Max seems more interested in Stacey as he follows her back to No.31.

Oscar also attempts to get Max's attention, but his dad is distracted by Zoe.

Later, Zoe and Lily convince Stacey to go ahead with the move to Brazil.

Meanwhile, Peter is uneasy over Max's presence on the Square ? fearing what will happen if Cindy returns.

Elsewhere, Gina and Harry decide to book a last-minute weekend away, but will everything go according to plan?
