    Emmerdale Spoilers 18th - 22nd August 2025

    https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/emm...ry-john-story/

Emmerdale's Mackenzie Boyd stumbles upon a clue in John Sugden's van next week that could change everything ? but will he keep it to himself, or confront John and risk meeting a grisly end?

After a huge bust-up with his wife Charity Dingle, Mack is grateful when John gives him a lift in his van.

But there he discovers something which might finally bring down the menacing medic. What has he uncovered?

"Mack's discovery is life-changing," confirms our Emmerdale source. "Just as John thinks he's slithered away from suspicion again and can begin a new life with Aaron, Mack's realisation threatens to ruin everything!"

It's a tense week for John when he learns the police are reopening Nate Robinson's murder investigation. After finding an inconsistency with Owen Michaels' suicide note, which John clumsily faked, the police descend.

John panics that he'll be implicated in the investigation and feels wretched seeing Tracy Robinson and Cain Dingle plunged back into grief. And as the walls close in on him, John makes a sinister phone call.

Meanwhile, grief-stricken Cain and Tracy despair when the police probe them with new questions. Tracy's confusion worsens when she meets with the removal man again and he claims he doesn't recognise the photo of Nate.

But later, the same removal man lies to the police that it was Owen who paid him to collect Nate's belongings. Smug John is flooded with relief when his plan comes together, and deceased Owen takes the fall once more for Nate's death.

With Tracy, Cain and even Robert Sugden now convinced by the evidence that Owen was Nate's murderer, slippery John escapes scrutiny and plots to flee from the village with Aaron.

Despite his husband's secret betrayal, everything is playing right into his hands ? that is until Mack gets into his van.

"Mack's life is in serious danger," our insider warns. "A flashforward on New Year's Eve showed him running for his life through the woods.

"These photos show he's wearing the very same beanie hat that he wore in that scene. So is John about to strike again?"

Could John silence Mack for good with another deadly dose? Or might Mack make his escape and expose John's true colours to the village?

It's the moment we've all been waiting for, as Emmerdale's Robert Sugden and Aaron Dingle finally give in to their feelings next week ? and end up in bed together.

Ever since Robert returned and shared a steamy snog with his ex-husband, it was only a matter of time before the soulmates were destined to reunite.

Despite the small matter of Aaron being married to Rob's twisted half-brother John, the love between them has never died ? and in Robert's hour of need, there's only one man who can save him.

"Robert breaks down in Aaron's arms and later says it's time for him to go and move on," explains Ryan Hawley, who plays Robert.

"Aaron convinces him to stay, and admits he's been fighting his own feelings the whole time?"

After John uses nephew Harry Sugden to trigger Robert's PTSD, Robert's in a dark and lonely place.

John twists the knife even further and manages to turn Victoria Sugden against Robert, painting him as a violent man who shouldn't be near kids. Then he visits his traumatised brother to rub salt in the wound.

"Robert loses it completely and has a breakdown," says Ryan. "John really rubs it in that he's repeating the actions of his past. He uses Harry to gaslight Robert and make out he's dangerous, then Victoria says he's not changing and he's out on his own.

"So Robert smashes everything in his room until Aaron comes in and stops him."

Aaron hears a commotion from outside and finds inconsolable Robert destroying his bedroom. Devastated to see how broken Robert is, worried Aaron takes him into his arms and tries to reassure him.

Downstairs, shaken Robert accepts that he's lost everything he's ever cared about, and admits it's time he moved on to start a new life far away from the village.

But Aaron is thrown into turmoil at the thought of losing him for good and begs him to stay, finally admitting he's been pushing him away on purpose.

Unable to bury it any longer, Aaron confesses how he feels, and the pair lean in for a kiss, submitting to their shared desire.

"Robert and Aaron don't want to think about their complicated circumstances," reveals Ryan. "They take their moment together for what it is, and it kick-starts the next phase of the story."

As Aaron and Robert lie in bed together, Victoria and John hover outside within touching distance of catching them at it. After the close call, guilt-ridden Aaron tries to kid himself that it was a mistake, but Robert's insistence that they're meant to be together leaves Aaron spiralling.

Aaron spills his betrayal to Mack, and he begins to realise the only way he can escape his feelings for Robert is by fleeing the village ? for good.

And with John secretly stewing over the walls closing in, he's delighted by Aaron's surprising plan. As the secrets and lies stack up, will Aaron and John's plan to start a new life together solve all their problems? And how will Robert feel to lose Aaron again just days after rekindling their love?

"Robert will be devastated to hear Aaron is leaving," teases Ryan. "Robert came back to the village for Aaron. He's his reason to exist. And he'll be very worried for Aaron's safety. He doesn't want to, but I think he could kill John to keep Aaron safe?"

Unable to resist rubbing his brother's face in it, John visits Robert and gloats.

On his own, Robert totally breaks down, utterly defeated by scheming secret killer John who he's failed to expose as a charlatan.

Later, Aaron hears a commotion and finds Robert smashing up his room.

Realising his ex is in a terrible state, Aaron comforts him, shocked by the depths of Robert's pain.

As Robert admits that he's lost everything and everyone, Aaron confesses that he's been keeping him at arm's length because he still has feelings for him despite being married to his brother John.

Powerless to resist the chemistry crackling between them, the men give into their desire and after a steamy kiss they fall into bed together!

When John and Vic resolve to check in on Robert, will they find the pair together?

Emmerdale's secret killer John is offered an easy out

So Aaron's gone and slept with his ex-husband Robert behind John's back and is spinning.

And when eager Robert pushes for them to reunite and leave John in the past, Aaron doesn't know which way is up.

Meanwhile, unaware that his husband and brother have slept together, John is dealing with a nightmare of his own as the police are re-opening Nate's murder case having uncovered a heap of inconsistencies.

When he clocks Tracy and Cain in distress about Nate, the secret killer's guilt mounts.

As Aaron tries to get his head round everything, he offloads on his best mate Mack, admitting that he kissed Robert on his wedding day… and slept with him last night.

Panicking that his killer secret is at risk of exposure, John can barely believe his ears when Aaron suggests a getaway from the village.

Their plans quickly get going, much to Chas' upset, as Liam agrees to give John some time off work.

Feeling as if everything is falling into place again, smug psycho John makes a chilling phone call…

At Dale Head, Vinny's guilt continues as Gabby pushes him to report Kammy to the police. Not about to admit the tragic and dark truth behind his attack, Vinny adds to his web of lies, claiming to have lost their wedding rings.

    Wednesday

Mackenzie makes a shocking discovery about John

With John's killer secret at risk now that Nate's murder investigation has been re-opened, he's taken steps to have another go at covering up his crime.

And his dirty work seems to have paid off. But for how long?

Tracy's thrown when the removal man, who collected Nate's things all those months ago, doesn't recognise Nate when she shows him a photo of him.

When the police question the man, however, he confirms Owen as the man who paid him to collect Nate's stuff.

With that, John's back in the clear. And as Cain confirms that the detectives have concluded that Owen is guilty of his son's murder, Robert – who's convinced his brother John was involved – is forced to accept he was wrong.

But when John gives Mack a lift in his van and the farmhand makes a shocking discovery about the paramedic, has his killer secret been uncovered at the eleventh hour?

Will John find out Mack's on to something? And if so, is Mack in danger of being bumped off, too?

At the scrapyard, Vinny quakes when the police come looking for him, asking if he knows a man called Graham, who also goes by the name of 'Mike'.

When Vinny learns Graham is being investigated for extortion, will he open up about his sick and violent encounter with the man? Is he going to have to finally tell Gabby the truth and admit he's been questioning his sexuality?

Moira's given food for thought when Celia says she's getting out of farming and advises her to do the same.

    Thursday

Secret killer John makes his exit with Aaron

Chas and Vic paint on a smile as Aaron and John head out of the village to get away.

But the men are leaving with heads full of secrets.

But the stakes are much higher for John who's done all manner of evil things to the villagers, the worst of which saw him kill Nate Robinson and hurl his body in the lake.

Can the guilt-ridden men really escape their troubles that easily?

At Butler's, Moira's finally come to a decision about the future of her farm which has been teetering on the brink of collapse for months.

Over at Dale Head, Vinny's got the weight of the world on his shoulders since the police came calling about 'Mike'.

Will she push him to talk?

    Friday

    Charity is in bits

After her horrible row with Mack on Monday, Charity's still not seen or heard a peep from her hurt husband and feels terrible.

They've both said some awful things, hurting over everything that this unconventional surrogacy arrangement has brought up. But Charity went one step further and kicked him out of the house.

Having had time to think and stew, Charity's starting to really hate herself for all she's said and done and knows she must have really hurt Mack for him to shut her out like this.

As she opens up to Chas about all that's gone down, how honest will Charity be? And will Chas have any advice to share?

Having packed a bag and taken a lift out of the village from John has Mack disappeared out of Charity's life for good?

At Butler's with her back against the wall, Moira comes out fighting.
