A Coronation Street star has confirmed their exit after a 10-year return to Weatherfield.
Jenny Bradley star Sally Ann Matthews has announced she'll be leaving Corrie in an Instagram post.
Matthews first appeared on the cobbles in 1986, playing Jenny until 1991. She then returned for a brief stint in 1993 before reprising the role in a more regular capacity in 2015.
On Instagram, the soap star revealed she was initially due to return for a five-month arc but ended up staying on Corrie for a decade.
"I was supposed to stay for five months but ended up doing an extra ten years because I loved it so much!" she shared on the platform when announcing her exit.
"It's time though to play those parts I always hoped I would when I'd 'grown up'," she added.
"Thanks Trafford Wharf Rd for the memories and endless laughter x"
Earlier this year, Matthews appeared to shut down rumours of a Corrie exit in a response to a fan.
After tabloid reports suggested the star could leave the cobbles behind soon, a concerned Corrie viewer complained about the news on Twitter/X, with Matthews replying: "Says who?????".
Now, however, it seems that Matthews is really leaving the soap, though plot details of her exit storyline haven't been disclosed just yet.
The Sun has suggested that it wasn't Matthews' decision to leave the show, with bosses making a storyline-led decision to write Jenny out. Digital Spy has reached out for further information but the show isn't commenting on Jenny's exit at this stage.
The Rovers Return's former landlady has been at the centre of many a dramatic story during her time on the cobbles. In recent years, she was involved in a long-running subplot centred on killer Stephen Reid, who had a romantic interest in Jenny.
After Stephen's death, Jenny had to sell the Rovers due to financial pressures, but was able to buy it back when she and Daisy Midgeley found the money that the villain had stolen from Underworld.
A guilt-ridden Jenny then decided to sign over the pub to Carla Connor, the rightful owner of the Rovers Return.
