Did Mick take his phone with him when he escaped? If so, did the police not take it from him when he was arrested? If not, if he left it in his cell, did the police not search it, to see if he had a phone to arrange his escape? Or has he just got another phone?

Best not to ask, SoC! But I believe Carphone Warehouse has a shop on site.

Maria doesn't seem to do much council work or go to many meetings. I wonder if her voters know.

You are probably right, anyway the staff would never find his phone, hidden so well as it is , under his mattress.

One of Car Phone Warehouse's highest turnover outlets, I hear.

I have to admit that I don't understand the Aadi storyline. The shop was ?6,000 in debt. He managed to save ?6,000 from the shop and put it in the safe so it could be stolen and he could claim it on the insurance. Why didn't he just use the ?6,000 he'd saved to pay off the debt. I'm sure I am missing something simple here, so would be grateful if someone can tell me what I've missed.

I think what you have missed, is that this is just, a badly written plot to enable Bernie to bring Kit and Brody together somehow.
Reading your post makes me think, it is the description for a Paul Daniels trick.

Aadi said he did not want to use his own savings to pay off the debt.

But were they his own savings? He saved the money from the shop, so must be shop profits, and it was his fault since he messed up the ordering. Surely rather than risk jail, better to use the ?6,000 he saved. I for one would not want to get involved in a criminal enterprise with Brody. Especially as it was obvious that it was Brody running away from the shop. Anyway the annual audit will show that the books do not balance.
