Coronation Street's Debbie Webster and Dee-Dee Bailey are set to face some tense baby drama in upcoming scenes.

Viewers will know that Debbie is currently being tested for young onset dementia, but her brother Carl is the only one who knows about it.

In the coming weeks Debbie is set to receive a formal diagnosis, paving the way for a long-running storyline that will lead to Debbie's exit from the soap.

Meanwhile, Dee-Dee recently gave birth to a baby daughter who she was planning to give away to her brother James and his partner Danny.

James is currently away in the US after Danny was involved in a road accident and the Bailey family are currently helping to take care of baby Laila, including Debbie, who is engaged to Dee-Dee's uncle Ronnie.

In scenes that air on Friday, 25 April, Debbie is looking after baby Laila for the day. When Debbie discovers Laila has a temperature, she tells Roy she's going to take the baby to the doctors.

A concerned Dee-Dee insists she'll go with them and at the hospital they run tests and attempt to get Laila's temperature to come down.

When Debbie notices that the formula milk she gave her is for 3-6 month olds, Debbie believes it's her fault that the baby is sick.

Will Debbie be honest with everyone about what really happened?

Speaking recently about Debbie's dementia storyline for the first time, Devaney denied claims that she was "furious" over her exit plot.

"Some papers claimed that I was furious about the story, which was completely untrue. The only reason I was concerned about the storyline was because I wanted to be sure I could do it justice," she said.

"It is an honour and privilege to be given this sort of storyline."
