Coronation Street star Adam Hussain is leaving the soap after five years.
The actor confirmed the big news on Instagram on Friday (April 11) following reports that he'd quit his role as Aadi Alahan.
Adam told fans: "I guess the secret's out now! As some of you may have heard, I will be leaving Coronation Street for new pastures.
"Over the five years I've spent there, I have learned so much about the world and the industry and now feel I am ready to spread my wings a little."
He added: "I have made friends that will last a lifetime and will surely miss such a special family!
"This isn't a farewell for Aadi, however, more like a see you later! I'm excited to see what the future brings!
"Thank you @coronationstreet @itv for giving me such a privilege of portraying this character for you. Until next time!"
Digital Spy understands that Adam told Corrie bosses that he'd be leaving to pursue other projects.
The young actor will remain on screen in the show until the end of summer.
Adam joined Coronation Street in 2020 after Zennon Ditchett, who'd previously played Aadi, left the show to focus on his studies.
Speaking to Digital Spy in 2021, Adam reflected on the transition by telling us: "It's been an experience! I've learned a lot. I've been able to grow as an actor and as a person as well.
"I've enjoyed being able to enter this new world of stable work with so many great actors and great people, who are like a family now. It's been transformational for me.
"At first, viewers were a bit shocked and surprised that Aadi had been recast. There were one or two negative comments online.
"But that's what you expect when you go looking for that sort of stuff, especially when you're replacing someone.
"I found it a little bit nervous and awkward coming in after replacing someone who had been on the show for so long. But after a while, the audience grew to me and I grew more into it as well."
