"I think what Kate has done is that she's given more people an opportunity," he explained at the time. "There's a lot more storylines in the mix. Usually there's just three storylines running at any one time – the main one, the middle one and the lower one, but she's included a fourth one.

"So when we go to six episodes per week later this year, we'll be able to manage it because we've got more storylines and a great cast. In previous times it's been the same faces doing storylines, so it's nice to give everyone a turn and I think that's what she's done."
