X Factor winner Joe McElderry has secured the top spot in this week's Irish singles chart with debut solo release 'The Climb'.

The 18-year-old singer held off competition from Rage Against The Machine's 1992 single 'Killing In The Name', which has become the focus of an internet campaign against The X Factor and Simon Cowell's dominance over the Christmas charts.

Lady GaGa's 'Bad Romance' drops two places to third, while 3OH!3 and Black Eyed Peas take fourth and fifth positions with 'Starstrukk' and 'Meet Me Halfway' respectively.

Meanwhile, Michael Bublé's 'Haven't Met You Yet' shoots back into the top ten, rising 15 places to seventh.
