Street's David in scaffolding murder plot

Coronation Street's David Platt steps up his evil game in the coming weeks when he tries to kill his sister's fiancé.

After learning that he's banned from Sarah (Tina O'Brien) and Jason's (Ryan Thomas) much-anticipated nuptials, the troubled teen – played by Jack P. Shepherd – vows that the wedding won't go ahead and begins planning his next move.

In his most sinister plot to date, David plans to murder his brickie brother-in-law-to-be.

He sneaks into the builders' yard where Jason works and loosens the scaffolding bolts. When Jason leans on the once-sturdy structure, the whole thing collapses leaving him fighting for his life on the ground below.

According to The Star, David's mum, Gail (Helen Worth), listens on as her son confesses his sin, forcing her to ask: "How have you ended up like this? You're so full of hatred – your eyes are burning with it.

"You terrify me. I can't take this any more. I want to believe you're not rotten to the core but I can see it in your face."

While the Platt clan point their fingers firmly in David's direction, the police are unable to obtain enough evidence to secure a conviction.

These dramatic scenes are due to air next month in the run-up to Corrie's "wedding of the year" shortly afterwards, which also marks the exit of 23-year-old Tina O'Brien who has played Sarah-Louise since October 1999.
