Coronation Street characters Sunita Alahan and Karl Munro are about to embark on a steamy affair, it has been reported.

The new Rovers barmaid, who is portrayed by 45-year-old actress Shobna Gulati, will reportedly enjoy a string of secret sex sessions with pub boss Karl (John Michie) behind his unknowing partner Stella's back.

Coronation Street boss Phil Collinson told the Daily Star: "There [have] been suggestions about Karl's wandering eye but we're going to see it for ourselves. Sunita is not someone you would expect, which makes it even more brilliant.

"It'll play out for quite a while, but all hell will break loose when Stella finds out."

Gulati recently hinted that romance could be in the air for Sunita in 2012, saying: "I think [this will be a big year], because she interacts with different people. And I think Sunita may be puckering up - maybe not with [husband] Dev!"

Stella is played by former EastEnders actress Michelle Collins, who came under attack from various fans when she first tackled the Manchester accent.

"The stick she got at the start was really unfair," Collinson said. "But she didn't cave in and now fans have accepted her in this new role."

Sounds like a terrible storyline and to me it's yet another attempt by Collison to promote his "new Family"

Why does every story have to have an affair included in the plot. They have Peter/yoyo knickers Carla, Sally/Frank. There's a rumour that Tyrone and Tina will soon be at it now Sunita/Karl. It's getting worse than EE. What next are they going to destroy Roy & Hayley with Roy having an affair with mad Mary.

why oh why is corrie trying to be a wanabee ee. corrie needs to concentrate on what it does best. i couldnt care less about sinita and even less about karl.

Coronation Street viewers will see Karl Munro and Sunita Alahan's affair exposed at last in upcoming episodes.

The pair have found themselves firmly on the back foot in recent days as they have struggled to convince suspicious Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) that nothing has been going on between them.

With no proof, Eva has been forced to keep her theories to herself - but all hell breaks loose at The Rovers in late July as betrayed Stella (Michelle Collins) discovers the truth for herself.

Karl (John Michie) and Sunita (Shobna Gulati) will give in to temptation yet again later this month, but it appears that they have played with fire once too often when Stella walks in and catches them in a compromising position!

This time, there's no room for excuses or explanations - so how will Stella and Dev react to the shocking truth about Karl and Sunita?

Coronation Street airs the big scenes in a few weeks' time.

Does anyone care anymore useless characters involved in the affair only Dev makes this storyline some bit watchable
