Strictly crashes The X Factor final

VIEWERS will be fuming after BBC chiefs decideded to schedule Strictly against The X Factor FINAL, TV Biz can reveal.

Bosses at both Saturday night shows have tried to minimise clashes. But last night it emerged the Beeb's show will run into The X Factor by 15 minutes on December 11.

And BBC1 is screening a repeat of My Family before, meaning the clash was avoidable.

The show is also 45 minutes longer than the equivalent show last year which ran for just one hour. The X Factor is scheduled to start at 8pm and run for two hours.

An ITV source said: "The BBC could easily avoid the overlap — all they have before Strictly is a repeat."

A BBC source replied: "The shows have overlapped several times this year. Only now, after they lost out at the weekend, do they complain."

Strictly's Wembley special beat The X Factor on Saturday with 12.5million viewers compared with 11.5million.

This weekend's X Factor quarter-final will have two themes: Guilty Pleasures and Heroes.

It was previously reported by This Morning's Jeff Brazier that the final five acts would be singing Motown classics, but that has proved incorrect.

All five acts - Janet Devlin, Marcus Collins, Amelia Lily, Little Mix and Misha Bryan - will be performing two tracks on Saturday (November 26) for the first time in the series.

Little Mix have emerged as the bookmakers' new favourites over the past week, following a fall in support from punters for Lily and Collins.

The girl group's backing has soared following their En Vogue cover on last weekend's Movies night.

The X Factor quarter-final airs on Saturday (November 26) at 8pm on ITV1.

Sunday's X Factor results show will feature performances from Xtra Factor host Olly Murs and 'Price Tag' popstar Jessie J.

Looking forward to this Saturday's show.
Little Mix are getting better and better. Loved their En Vogue cover, my favourite performance from that show

Earlier in the series she wowed with her rendition of Coldplay's Fix You and now Janet Devlin could have it 'fixed' for her to perform with the popular band.

The 16-year-old is in line to sing with the group in the X Factor grand final after Chris Martin and co were signed up by the show's bosses.

Coldplay have been booked in to perform with one of the three finalists – and insiders are said to believe Janet is the only act that would suit their style.
According to the Daily Star it's a sign that bosses expect Janet to make the final, although the line-up has yet to be decided.

A source claimed in the newspaper: 'There isn’t anyone left in the show who would suit Coldplay’s music apart from Janet.

'She wowed everyone when she sang Fix You. It shows how confident everyone is that Janet will make the final.'
Michael Bublé is another superstar said to be booked in alongside 'the world's number one band'.
The newspaper claims that he has been chosen to partner with 23-year-old singer Marcus Collins, who embodies a more mature style of singing.
A third performer has yet to be chosen but Little Mix, formerly Rhythmix, have made it clear they would love to duet with Jessie J.
The final countdown: Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion of Coldplay have been booked to perform in the X Factor final according to a report
She helped the group's mentor Tulisa *Contostavlos, 23, pick them for the live finals.

Band member Jesy Nelson said: 'It would be so cool to duet with her in the final if we make it.'
Janet recently revealed that she is in charge when it comes to her X Factor performances.

'I won’t do what I don’t want to do. I won’t do anything that isn’t me,' she told NOW magazine.

Even the change of colour to her hair wasn't a sign of her being a push over: 'They didn’t make me do it, I always wanted to be ginger.'

But she admitted her look caused her problems in earlier years.

'At school I had a problem making friends and it was tough,' she revealed.

'I wasn’t cool – I had very long blonde frizzy hair, I never wore makeup and I wasn’t pretty.

'People would take the mick out of me. I don’t like talking about being bullied, but I forgave the girls who did it. Since then I’ve just had a small circle of friends I feel comfortable with.

Adele has agreed to perform on the X Factor final next month, sources have claimed.

The 'Set Fire To The Rain' singer is tipped to give her first performance since undergoing vocal chord microsurgery at the ITV contest's December 11 conclusion.

Adele is believed to have agreed to the slot earlier in the year after being approached by X Factor boss Simon Cowell.

"Her management said this week she is still planning to make it," an insider told The Sun. "It's amazing news for fans and viewers."

Adele had apparently been secured to assist Louis Walsh at Judges' Houses, but was bumped for X Factor regular Sinitta at Cowell's behest.

Adele announced in October that she had to cancel all of her remaining 2011 concerts in order to undergo surgery.

Adele's spokesperson has rejected suggestions that the singer will perform on this year's X Factor final.

The 23-year-old singer has pulled out of a number of live dates this year because of throat problems. She underwent vocal chord microsurgery in Boston, Massachusetts earlier this month.

A source claimed that Adele had agreed to play the December 11 finale earlier in the year and that her management said this week "she is still planning to make it" as her live comeback.

However, the 'Rolling In The Deep' star's spokesperson told The Daily Telegraph that the performance was "not going to happen".

Following the surgery, Adele said that she was feeling "very positive" and "just chilling out now until I get the all-clear from my doctors".

X FACTOR star Janet Devlin's mum has revealed how proud she is of her daughter for opening up about being bullied at school.

The redhead told earlier this week how she was tormented by her fellow pupils for not being "pretty enough".

But the 17-year-old, from Northern Ireland, said despite her life being made hell by the cruel taunts, she never let it get her down.

She said: "I had a problem making friends and it was tough. I wasn't cool - I had very long blonde frizzy hair, I never wore make-up and I wasn't pretty.

"People would take the mick out of me. I don't like talking about being bullied, but I forgave the girls who did it."

Now her mother Patricia has praised her "brave" decision to speak out about her suffering

She told a newspaper: "It was just schoolgirls being silly but Janet being Janet coped with it and she has remained very loyal to her friends that stood by her.

"But like she said, she doesn't hold anything against them and that's not put on, she genuinely means that. It's all water under the bridge.

"But I wouldn't want anyone to think she's in X Factor because of what she went through.

"It had nothing to do with that, she went on X Factor for her. She's strong-minded and she only does things she wants to do."

Patricia added she was immensely proud of her daughter who has come in for some fierce criticism for being boring after initially being dubbed "the one to beat" from her very first audition.

WILD rocker Courtney Love has come up with a plan to help Janet Devlin win The X Factor – by letting her sing a Nirvana track.

The widow of the grunge band's frontman Kurt Cobain — whose ancestors are from the same part of County Tyrone as flame-haired Janet — tweeted Simon Cowell yesterday to suggest the idea.

The Hole singer posted: "@SimonCowell you want some Nirvana songs? @JanetJealousy is from same town as Kurt? I have the perfect idea for that, call me babe."

The move has stunned X Factor producers because getting permission to use artists' songs on the show can be difficult.

And it was especially surprising because Courtney — who inherited the rights to the band's songs after Kurt killed himself in 1994 — is famously controlling about how Nirvana's hits are used.

I think that Janet should be sent home tonight. She has forgotten her words twice now. Shame. Not sure who else should be in the bottom two with her. The Metro says Mischa B is the favourite to leave tonight.
