Emmerdale newcomer Suzanne Shaw has admitted that her soap commitments still make her feel nervous.
The actress and former Hear'Say singer joined ITV's rural serial earlier this year in the part of Edna Birch's (Shirley Stelfox) flirtatious granddaughter Eve Jenson.
Speaking to the Glasgow Sunday Mail about her new role, Shaw commented: "I've done nothing like a soap before. It's a new lifestyle and I'm still a little nervous about it all, to be honest.
"It's a new trade I'm going into and I'm learning a lot about it as I go. It's a lot of work and you work at a fast pace although it's refreshing to be playing a part.
"It's nice to be doing something different and that's what I love about my job. I go on to different things all the time and I never know what's going to happen next.
"I use it as part of my life and life experience makes you a better actress anyway. Hopefully with the different storylines I will be able to bring that to the cameras."
Shaw has previously appeared in a number of West End musicals, including Chicago, Summer Holiday and The Rocky Horror Show.
Emmerdale star Suzanne Shaw has revealed that she turned down an offer to become a glamorous "corner girl" at cage fights.
The actress, who plays flirtatious Eve Jenson on ITV1's rural soap, rejected a large sum to take on the job because she would not have felt comfortable showing off her body.
Speaking to The Mirror, Shaw explained: "It was stupid money really and [my husband] Jay was joking, saying 'go on'. But I just couldn't do it, it just isn't my style at all.
"It's one thing doing photoshoots where they show you how to pose and you can look fabulous but when you're walking around in a skimpy outfit it's a bit different. I would have been too worried about having all my wobbly bits on show. Dressing up in Eve's outfits is daring enough for me."
The 28-year-old also repeated her recent confession that she may have cosmetic surgery in the future.
She said: "I probably would consider having cosmetic surgery. I'm just not sure I've got the guts to do it at the moment. I'd probably have lipo on my thighs, I hate them. And I've had Botox already."
Emmerdale star Suzanne Shaw has revealed that she has to push herself to be flirtatious when playing her character Eve Jenson.
The actress, who used to be in the band Hear'Say, admitted that although she is naturally flirty, her character takes it to another level.
Speaking to Inside Soap, she said: "There's flirting, and then there's some lines I read where I'm like, 'I can't say that!' She's got to try being a little bit more subtle - but that's one thing she's not."
She added: "I'm actually quite flirtatious myself. I think a lot of people in the acting business are. Eve takes it to a whole new level, though, so I have to really push that side of my own character for her."
Emmerdale star Suzanne Shaw has revealed that her character Eve Jenson may become unpopular with fans because of an upcoming storyline.
Eve will begin an affair with Carl King and Shaw has admitted that viewers may not like seeing someone come between Carl and his girlfriend Chas.
Speaking to the Daily Star Sunday, she said: "I was really excited when I found out Eve would be having an affair with Carl. But I quickly realised it would make me very unpopular with the majority of Emmerdale fans because everyone loves Carl and Chas together.
"So I’m preparing myself for all the trouble it’s going to cause. It’s a great storyline and I have no idea how it will all turn out. There’s also the small matter of Chas. It’s going to take some doing for Carl to keep it from her.
"It would be a brave or a stupid man who tests Chas but Carl seems determined to give it a go and Eve certainly isn’t one to hold back. One thing’s for sure, if Chas does uncover Carl’s dirty secret he’ll be wise to sleep with one eye open!
"It’s a really juicy storyline to have been given and there’s lots of naughtiness coming up. Eve never ceases to amaze me. She’s a great character to play as she can be so shocking."
She added: "It’s been nearly six months since I joined Emmerdale and it’s just flown by. It’s hard work but I’m enjoying every minute of it and the soap is buzzing at the moment. There are so many huge storylines coming up and I can’t wait to see how it all turns out with Eve and Carl.
"But whatever happens you know that with Eve and Chas being at the centre of it all it’s going to be very dramatic. It’s not going to be an easy time for Carl at all. I know the affair goes on well into the autumn and there are going to be a few twists and turns before it all reaches a climax this Christmas."
Guess it is not going to be a happy Christmas for all in Emmerdale, but then it would be wrong in soapland for that to happen![]()

Suzanne Shaw has announced that she is to leave Emmerdale after more than a year with the soap.
The actress joined the cast of the ITV1 show in January 2010, taking on the role of flirtatious Eve Jenson. She made her first appearance in the village a few months later.
However, in a statement released on Emmerdale's official website this evening, the mother-of-one confirmed that she has decided to bow out from the programme for the sake of her family.
She said: "Playing Eve has been a wonderful experience for me. I have had the opportunity to work with some incredibly talented people and to learn from them.
"After much soul-searching, we decided that as a family we wanted to be based in one place at this point in our lives. My family must come first and I have therefore decided to leave the show in the summer.
"I have thoroughly enjoyed playing the role of Eve and have been lucky to have had some incredible storylines and I'll terribly miss the cast and crew."
Eve proved popular with the village's male residents when she arrived last year, but it was her affair with Carl King (Tom Lister) that had the biggest impact on life in Emmerdale - infuriating the businessman's partner Chas Dingle and leading to a Christmas Day wedding showdown.
Emmerdale's series producer Stuart Blackburn commented: "Suzanne has been a valued and respected member of cast and was at the forefront of one of our biggest stories last year. She has a real presence on screen and will be greatly missed. However, we fully understand her decision and wish her all the best for the future."

Other than the story with Carl. She not really done much. I thought her and Kelly might cause some trouble for Carl and Jimmy. But that has failed. Both are boring. If Katie smiled the mirrors all round Emmerdale would crack.
