Coronation Street's Joseph Brown will make a shocking admission in upcoming scenes after he's overcome with guilt.

The ITV soap recently announced plans to explore knife crime in a dark new storyline for Mason Radcliffe, who will be stabbed during an altercation with his brothers Matty and Logan in early January.

While Mason fights for his life in hospital, paramedic Asha tells Dev that a hoax call sent the ambulance on a wild goose chase and delayed them getting to Mason.

After overhearing the conversation, a guilty Joseph walks into the police station and tells Kit that he made the call.

When Craig tells Chesney and Gemma about the call, they're horrified.

The pair later confront Joseph, who admits the call was actually Hope's idea. How will Chesney react?

Later in the week, Gemma reveals that Joseph will be let off with a youth caution for the hoax call. Fiz is sympathetic, aware that the prank was Hope's idea.

Speaking about the dark storyline, Coronation Street producer Kate Brooks told Digital Spy and other press: "We start the year with a big knife crime story. It's a really important story to tackle, because the statistics are so alarming.

"We've worked really closely with the Ben Kinsella Foundation to make sure we're telling the story right and that the message is to not carry a knife out of fear, because that escalates everything. We know we're tackling a sensitive storyline and it's going to be very hard-hitting.

"We have Mason at the centre of it and Dylan and Betsy are involved. It has massive ramifications for Abi ? and for Tim and Sally going forward."

Coronation Street's Dev Alahan and Bernie Winter are officially engaged.

The couple, who recently reunited after splitting up in late October, made it official in tonight's episode, with Dev proposing to Bernie after realising life is too short.

While the two ended happily, the beginning of the episode saw Dev and Bernie continue to butt heads over Joseph and Hope's hoax call.

Dev, already rattled by Evelyn, who cornered him at the caf? and quit her job with immediate effect, snappily ordered a cake at the counter with Bernie biting back.

Bernie argued that Dev wanted Joseph "hung, drawn and quartered" for the prank with Dev expressing his concern for daughter Asha, the paramedic who was subject to the hoax call.

Neither party backed down in their dispute, with Dev storming out. Later, Bernie arrived at the shop with a cake and an apology.

Bernie revealed their disagreement stemmed from them both caring so deeply about their "blended family", with her sharing how she feels like a mother to Asha and his other children, though she would never try to replace Sunita.

It's then that Dev, in light of recent events (Mason's death) asked Bernie to marry him.

"You know honey, I was wondering why we don't put a proper ring on that," he says, grabbing her ring finger on her right hand.

Admitting concern, as last time Bernie turned his proposal down, she replied that she was a "work in progress" and asked him to ask her again.

"Bernadine Winter, our lives are entwined, our kids' lives are entwined, my heart is in your hands, let's make this thing official, yes?"

Bernie beamed and Dev pulled her in for a hug, with the two officially engaged.

Later in the episode, Dev and Bernie turned up at Chesney and Gemma's house to share the good news, but it turned out the two were too preoccupied to hear their announcement.

Wanting to celebrate Chesney receiving ?20,000 in compensation money from Les' death, the pair asked Dev and Bernie to babysit while they go and have a drink.

After successfully putting the kids down later, Dev quipped that it should be them celebrating, but the two decided they were happy enough, settling for a hug on the sofa instead.

Coronation Street has teased the outcome of the show's arson mystery in a new set of spoiler clips.

The ITV soap has kept fans guessing over who was responsible for the recent fire at the Platt house, which endangered the lives of Max Turner and Toyah Habeeb.

Police have confirmed that the fire was started deliberately, and they've already pointed the finger at David Platt and Abi Webster in recent days.

A new Corrie spoiler clip has now previewed the big moment that Shona Platt appears to figure out who the culprit was.

Kevin Webster shows Shona and Nick Tilsley the CCTV footage from the garage, which captures the moment that the arsonist broke in to steal some petrol.

Kevin has no idea who this individual is, but Shona looks very concerned after spotting a crucial clue. Has she cracked the case? And will she speak up or protect the criminal?

Meanwhile, a second video shows David at a crossroads as he considers taking part in another criminal job with his dodgy friend Andy Garland.

David has already acted as a getaway driver for Andy and his associates as they targeted a warehouse, but now he's potentially being dragged into a riskier mission involving an ATM robbery.

Finally, two further clips offer our first look at new regular characters Mick and Lou Michaelis, who are about to move into nearby Mawdsley Street.

Lou crosses paths with Gemma Winter-Brown while bickering with Aadi Alahan at the Corner Shop. She recognises Gemma as one of the other mums from Bessie Street School.

Lou hopes to strike up a friendship with Gemma, but there's a sting in the tail as viewers realise that her husband Mick is the mystery van man who's been tormenting Chesney for weeks.

Joe Layton, who's been cast as Mick, recently teased: "I think the audience will be shocked to realise that it's Mick who was harassing Chesney all this time.

"It's been drip fed out and from what I've seen, no one knew what was happening with the man with the silver van. It's been great to have that kind of depth to play with and it's been fun.

"Working with Sam [Aston] and Dolly-Rose [Campbell] has been amazing. Everyone at Corrie is so welcoming and the Winter-Browns are an iconic family!"

Coronation Street stars confirm big plans for soap's younger cast

    https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/cor...-younger-cast/

Coronation Street stars Cait Fitton and Sydney Martin have confirmed that producers are planning something "different" for the soap's younger cast.

The pair, who play Lauren Bolton and Betsy Swain respectively, spoke to The Sun at the British Soap Awards on Saturday (31 May), with the duo teasing that the crew of the ITV soap had developed a "fun" way to bring together the younger members of the cast.

"There is [going to] be something quite different in the near-near future where we see all the younger cast come together," said Fitton. "We really enjoyed that because nine times out of ten you don't really get to see people unless you are working with them.

"Working with people our own age has been so much fun. It was two weeks of us non-stop altogether. I felt sorry for the crew and directors by the end of it but it was so much fun," added the star, who has played Lauren since 2022.

The pair also hinted that their respective characters could slowly develop a friendship despite their rocky history, with Fitton sharing: "I do see it. I don't think it will be soon but I think it will be a slow burner."

Martin, who made her debut as Betsy last year, echoed the sentiments of her co-star as she confirmed that any friendship would be a "slow burner", with the star adding that they had filmed some "great stuff" as the characters begin to "lean on each other".

While Lauren and Betsy will develop a friendship in the upcoming weeks, the latter will be involved in further drama next week as she rifles through Lisa's belongings, with the teenager discovering information about her late mother, Becky.

"Betsy being Betsy is just being nosy," explained Martin. "As she goes to grab one of the boxes, Lisa's very on edge. She can be like that, very stressed and job-focused, but it makes Betsy question what inside this particular box is so special.

"Their relationship has often been based around lies ? there's a lot of times her mum has lied to protect her, but Betsy just wants to be treated like an adult now. If snooping in these boxes means she can find out something that her mum's not going to tell her, that's what she's going to do!"

Coronation Street sets up huge new stunt with legendary character in danger

    https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/cor...nt-fiz-danger/

Coronation Street has set up a huge new stunt which could spell danger for a fan-favourite character.

Pictures from the set of the ITV soap show the makings of explosive scenes coming to our TV screens soon, but could Fiz Dobbs be in danger?

Fiz actor Jennie McAlpine was snapped filming for the new stunt, which involves a speeding car heading straight toward her in the street.

Other actors on set included Dylan Wilson star Liam McCheyne, and Brody Michaelis' Ryan Mulvey, who has become a regular on the show.

Will Fiz be hit by the speeding car, and will Dylan and Brody find themselves in trouble yet again?

Dylan and Brody first met in the Secure Training Centre, and it soon became apparent that troubled teen Brody was a bad influence on Dylan.

Since being released, trouble has continued to follow Brody around, with the boys continuing their feud on the outside.

Dylan has gone as far as threatening Brody following their fight in the STC, laying down the ground rules that he will not be pushed around again.

Brody's troubles have intensified after the bombshell was dropped that Kit Green is his biological father, not Mick Michaelis, as he previously thought.

Despite Lou Michaelis urging Kit to stay away, he ordered a DNA test to find out whether Brody was, in fact, his son.

After putting off opening the results, Kit was persuaded by Bernie Winter to look, and that is when he discovered Brody was his child, with Bernie breaking the news to Dylan during a fight with Kit.

Brody sought Lou to get to the bottom of the issue, with Lou lambasting Bernie over spilling the beans.

How will Dylan react, and could this push him on a far darker path than previously? By the looks of the soap's latest stunt, it seems so.
