Coronation Street has confirmed the full details of its upcoming flashback episode.
The special episode, which will air on Friday 16 May, will transport viewers back to 2007 as it explores the "complex history" of Kit Green, shedding light on the character's motivations and the reason behind his complicated relationships.
Jane Hazlegrove, who plays Kit's biological mum Bernie Winter, was spotted filming scenes for the episode earlier this year, with paparazzi photos appearing to confirm that the flashback will recall an occasion Bernie tried to make contact with her son while he was growing up and living with his foster parents.
Viewers will also witness the teenage years of Mick and Lou, uncovering the truth behind their intertwined past with Kit.
The soap is about to start exploring the tension between Kit and Mick, with Gary suspecting Kit of covering for Mick.
The flashback episode will finally reveal the reasons behind Kit's actions as viewers witness the events that "bind them together".
The younger version of Kit will be played by Brook Debio, while teen Mick and teen Lou will be played by Lewis Walton and Charlotte Alex-Riley, respectively.
Speaking about the episode, older Kit actor Jacob Roberts said he was "grateful that we'd be delving into Kit's past to show why he is the way he is".
"He lived a completely different life back then, one he's worked hard to leave behind, unlike Mick," he continued.
"The arrival of Mick and Lou has definitely shaken Kit. He knows they bring trouble, and now, as a Detective Constable, his job is to maintain peace in Weatherfield.
"Kit was very much like Mick and Lou growing up, and they hold that over him so he's terrified of his past coming back to haunt him.
"It was also quite surreal meeting Brook, the actor playing young Kit ? definitely a funny experience to come face-to-face with a younger version of myself!"

Eileen Grimshaw worries she may be suspected of killing Julie
Kit’s taken aback to come face to face with Lou in the pub as she tells Tracy that she and Kit go way back.
Later, Eileen Grimshaw is distraught when Kit reveals the autopsy showed her painkillers in Julie’s system, telling George that she can barely grieve for Julie because of the stress of knowing she could be wrongly accused of murder.
At the wedding fayre, Leanne bitches about the position of the Speed Daal pitch as Debbie tries to ignore her. Meanwhile, as Maria heads out to set up, Lou steals a bottle of prosecco, promising that she’ll be with her once she’s finished Tracy’s hair, but when Lou fails to turn up, Maria's clearly not happy.
As Leanne bangs on about the poor position of the Speed Daal stand, Debbie, who’s already panicking after losing her clipboard, loses her temper and tries to shift the stand herself, cutting her hand in the process.
Ronnie insists on taking her to A&E and when a nurse tells her that she needs to ask some questions about her medical history, Debbie masks her panic, ordering a dejected Ronnie to leave.
Liam decides to get his own back and puts washing powder in Mick’s tea, laughing out loud when he takes a spit and spits it out back.
Determined to make Liam pay, Mick locks him in the tool shed, where a frightened Liam calls out in vain.
Lauren confesses to Bobby that she had no choice but to use the ?500 he gave her for a deposit on a flat. Declaring their friendship over, Bobby heads out, leaving Lauren devastated.
With Jenny gone and Ryan working for Debbie, Carla promotes Glenda to Manager of the Rovers.
Later, Jenny packs up her things and moves in with Rita.

Gary Windass gives MIck a taste of his own medicine
Mick sends Liam for bacon sarnies but he fails to come back. Gary Windass and Maria find him skulking in the caf? and he opens up to a horrified Maria about how Mick locked him in the tool shed.
Gary returns to the yard to find Mick looking for something in the shed, so Gary locks him in and gives him a taste of his own medicine before telling Mick he’s fired.
Mick later corners Gary outside and punches him to the ground. Grabbing an empty bottle, Gary staggers to his feet, but suddenly Kit steps between them, ordering Gary to drop the bottle and let Mick go.
In the caf?, Betsy rounds on Lauren over her treatment of Bobby. A row ensues and Lauren accidentally squirts ketchup all over Roy.
In the bistro, Abi and Debbie order soft drinks to go with lunch, but when Ronnie enters, Debbie changes her order to a large vodka.
As a drunken Debbie staggers to the loos, Abi calls Carl for help. And when he arrives a drunken Debbie tells Abi she’s had some bad news...
Glenda tells Carla she’s short staffed at the pub but how will Carla find a new member of staff at such short notice?
Kit apologises to Sarah for neglecting her recently and invites her for dinner.
Lauren explains to Aadi that Frankie has been discharged from hospital and her next mission is to find a job.

Bernie calls at Kit Green’s flat, hoping he’ll open up to her about what’s bothering him and this special flashback episode focuses on his childhood. We see a young Kit finding himself on the wrong side of the law and uncover what made him the man he is today.
Meanwhile, following the fight between Gary and Mick, Maria and Lou row over the situation, each believing their own husband’s version of events.
Gary and Maria confront Kit in the caf? and accuse him of corruption. But he retaliates by painting Gary as the villain, reminding him he was armed with a bottle.
Bernie lets herself into Kit’s flat and remembering the photo she found in the bin, demands to know why he’s covering for Mick.
Mick and Lou take Brody for a meal to celebrate his release from the STC.

Coronation Street's Glenda Shuttleworth is left delighted next week, as Carla Connor promotes her to manager of the Rovers Return.
With Jenny Connor's plans to buy back The Rovers scuppered after Daisy Midgeley left her high and dry, she's packed up and moved back into Rita Tanner's flat, leaving Carla in full control of the boozer.
And the straight-talking businesswoman wastes no time appointing a new person to take the helm at the iconic pub.
"Glenda's going up in the world. Well, maybe just in Weatherfield ? either way, this is huge for her," our Coronation Street source shares.
"Her brash confidence and capable dependability make her perfect for the role, and savvy Carla has recognised her potential.
"Though, she might face some jealousy from her envious colleagues considering Sean's worked there knocking on 20 years without promotion!"
It's not long before things go awry though, as overworked Glenda later tells Carla that with Daisy gone and Ryan Connor working for Debbie, they're short-staffed and need a new barmaid.
"With a spot open at the legendary Rovers, there's sure to be no lack of applicants," our insider adds.
"The question is, will it be an existing Weatherfield resident who's set to start pulling pints, or could we see an exciting new face cause chaos on the cobbles and fill the hole that Daisy has left behind?"
Now that she's in charge, what changes will glamorous Glenda introduce during her Rovers reign ? more campy cruise ship karaoke, perhaps? Saturday night performances from the Little Big Shotz? Glitter in the hotpot?

Coronation Street's Eileen Grimshaw is left terrified next week as she worries that she could be going to prison for murder.
The worrying possibility is revealed as Kit Green informs Eileen that her painkillers were found in Julie Carp's system after she died. With the Grimshaw matriarch set to leave the cobbles, is she doomed to spend the rest of her life behind bars?
Still grieving for her late sister, Eileen makes a despondent visit to The Rovers with her partner George Shuttleworth.
However, Eileen's upset soon turns into sheer panic when Kit turns up at the pub and reveals shocking news about her sibling's autopsy?
"Eileen is shaken to the core," reveals our Weatherfield insider. "Julie's death is still so raw, and a suggestion from Todd that she ended her own life is still unbearably painful for Eileen to come to terms with.
"So, you can only imagine her devastation when Kit reveals what has been found in her sister's blood?"
Horrified, Eileen quickly realises that Julie's post-mortem is likely to set alarm bells ringing in Weatherfield police station. And having been one of the last people to see her sister alive, the switchboard operator is certain that fingers will be pointed at her.
"It's all too much for Eileen," our source continues. "If the police suspect that something fishy has gone down, she knows that she will likely be the prime suspect.
"And say that awful situation was to unfold, how can Eileen possibly prove that she wasn't responsible? She was the one who found Julie after she passed away by the lake. It might be the worst-case scenario, but certainly one that isn't too far-fetched?"
While Corrie bosses are keeping quiet about whether Eileen will be hauled in for questioning, they're leaving no doubt about the emotional impact of the tragic turn of events.
In a private moment with George, the mum-of-two explains that she is struggling to grieve because of the stress that she could be put away for a crime she never committed.
As Eileen stews over her future, will the Weatherfield police come knocking at her door? And if so, will Eileen bid farewell to the Street while in handcuffs?

Here's our first look at the Coronation Street family reunion from hell, as bad boy Brody Michaelis catches up with his parents Mick and Lou.
Brody's time in the Secure Training Centre is about to come to an end, which could be bad news for the residents of Weatherfield.
The troublesome teen has been serving time alongside Sean Tully's son Dylan Wilson, making his life a misery.
Next week, it's all change as Brody gets his freedom again ? and top of the agenda is getting to know his new home...
"Mick and Lou moved to nearby Mawdsley Street while Brody was locked away," our Corrie source reminds us.
"Once Brody is out, the trio head to Speed Daal for a meal to celebrate. But if the local residents thought that living alongside two members of the Michaelis family was bad enough, how will they cope with three?"
One person who surely won't be happy to see Brody is Sean. Brody repeatedly blackmailed Sean earlier this year, threatening Dylan's safety in the STC if he didn't cooperate.
When Sean tried to do the right thing by reporting Brody's nasty games to the bosses at the STC, Mick retaliated by brutally beating up his neighbour.
Brody's release airs during next week's special episode exploring the secret backstory between Mick, Lou and local detective Kit Green.
Corrie bosses have confirmed a huge twist on the cards, as Kit finds out that Brody could be his biological son rather than Mick's.
Jacob Roberts, who plays Kit, recently told us: "Kit would know that Brody has just come out of the STC and I don't think you can change a lad ? the damage has already been done. He thinks Mick is Brody's dad and Kit has got nothing to do with this kid.
"It would come as a shock to Kit and he'd certainly be upset or angry that Lou never told him he had a child. He's not ready for a kid, we've seen that he's not ready for a baby, so how can he be ready for a 16-year-old lad who's already learnt from his dad Mick?"
Asked whether this could bring Kit closer to his estranged mum Bernie, Jacob replied: "Bernie's probably the best person to speak to about it, because again, Kit has got no-one else to talk to. That's what you will see ? it's little subtle hints that Kit needs Bernie there while he's talking to Brody. He'll need Bernie on his side because he's questioning if he's doing the right thing, and if he's feeling the right emotions.
"But I do think Bernie might get a bit too involved in it as well!"
Coronation Street airs these scenes on Friday 16 May on ITV1 and ITVX.

Emmerdale's Liam Cavanagh is left conflicted next week as Manpreet Sharma comes clean about Joe Tate's scheming ? will he agree to cover up her wrongdoing?
Following her shocking confession that Joe convinced her to obtain a vial of Caleb Miligan's blood for him to test as a donor match, Manpreet begs Liam to turn a blind eye to her revelation. But will Liam put his own professional reputation on the line to help save his colleague?
"Manpreet is a great doctor, who just happens to have made some questionable choices lately," reveals our Emmerdale source.
"First, making a secret profile to flog her X-rated pictures, then going along with Joe's plot to get his hands on Caleb's blood ? she's been on a bit of a dark spiral.
"Joe totally pulled the wool over her eyes, but Manpreet trusts Liam and hopes he'll help out a friend who's made a very, very grave error of judgement."
Liam begrudgingly agrees to cover up her involvement, much to Manpreet's relief. However, he can't shake the feeling that Manpreet has betrayed him with her recklessness?
"Manpreet essentially went behind his back and risked the reputation of their doctor's surgery, and that's a huge no for Liam," our insider continues.
"He's a very moral man, and he takes his work very seriously ? everything that Manpreet's done has not only risked her own career, but it's also put his on the line, too.
"He's seen a different side to her, and it's made him question their entire relationship, personally and professionally. After having dangerous Ella as a receptionist, newly opened Brook Cottage Surgery can't afford another scandal!"
Will Liam manage to keep a lid on Manpreet's shocking secret? Or will the good doctor's conscience win out in the end, putting Manpreet in danger of losing her medical license ? or worse, facing a stint in HMP Skipdale?
they'll probably pair brody up with betsy or lauren

Coronation Street's Lauren Bolton vows to move forward with her life next week ? and it could spark changes for a familiar Weatherfield location.
Lauren confides in Aadi Alahan after receiving some good news about her son Frankie, who's been unwell in hospital over the past few months.
The teen couldn't be happier as she tells Aadi that Frankie has been discharged from hospital following his bone marrow transplant.
This closes an emotional chapter for Lauren, as she's ready to start looking to the future and securing a sense of normality while bringing up Frankie.
"Lauren tells Aadi that she wants to find a job," our Corrie source explains.
"It's important for her to secure a stable source of income so that she can provide for Frankie and be the mum he deserves.
"Lauren is used to having people doubt her, but she's determined to make a success of her life in Weatherfield and move on from all the trauma she faced with evil Joel last year."
Corrie fans will have to stay tuned to see where Lauren ends up, but in true soap style, it's sure to be somewhere in walking distance. With Aadi's father Dev currently away, could he decide that they need the extra help at the Corner Shop?
Might Lauren end up at The Rovers, as new manager Glenda Shuttleworth warns boss Carla Connor that they're short-staffed? Or could The Kabin be brought back into storylines with Lauren behind the counter?
Meanwhile, upcoming episodes will also see Lauren on a mission to resolve her blackmail nightmare as she hopes to find out who's demanding money from her.
This ultimately sparks a fall-out between Lauren and her friend Bobby Crawford, as he gives her cash to pay off the blackmailer and she sneakily uses it as a deposit for a flat instead.
Coronation Street airs Lauren's job decision on Wednesday 14 May on ITV1 and ITVX

Coronation Street introduces a possible new barmaid for the Rovers Return tonight as Carla Connor makes a big decision.
Lauren Bolton becomes the latest character to step behind the bar at the iconic pub, which has been left short-staffed following the departures of Jenny Connor and Daisy Midgeley.
Wednesday's episode sees new manager Glenda Shuttleworth complain to Rovers owner Carla Connor about ongoing staffing issues.
At first, Carla refuses to hire anyone ? insisting that it's important to keep costs down while she searches for new owners to take over.
Later, though, Carla changes her mind as her long-time friend Roy Cropper puts in a good word for Lauren.
Lauren is ready for a fresh start now that her baby son Frankie has been discharged from hospital. Top of her priority list is landing a job so that she can provide for him.
Carla agrees that Lauren can have a trial shift. Will Lauren prove popular with Glenda, Sean Tully and Gemma Winter-Brown as they all put her through her paces?
Jenny recently stood down as manager of The Rovers, getting out early as she knew that Carla would be selling up soon.
The popular character has since moved in with Rita Tanner and has also secured some shifts working at The Kabin.
While Jenny remains part of the show, Daisy recently left Weatherfield for good after nearly five years at The Rovers. Charlotte Jordan, who played Daisy, decided to depart from the role to pursue other projects.
Coronation Street airs these scenes tonight at 8pm on ITV1 and the episode is streaming right now on ITVX.
