I may, of course, be totally wrong and he is totally oblivious about his failings.

However, the next time he does something good I will praise him to the high heavens

Manpreet is annoying me. She is never going to please Esme and her daughter. She should do the job that she is very well paid to do and wait for Charles to chase after her if he is still interested. .

That would be a waste of his new skills.
After serving his time in prison he is now an electrician.

Yes amazing isn't it. It took me 5 years as an apprentice to become skilled. How many WEEKS did he serve.

It would take a saint working full time to please that pair.

5 years? - you obviously were not working hard enough.

Seriously I also served a 5 year apprenticeship in marine engineering, mind you I was used as cheap labour for quite a lot of that time. I think I only started learning when I had finished my time. But learning to use tools is something that lasts you a lifetime.
The amount of time Noah spent, it would be just about long enough to find a fuse box. Not sure I would let him near a live wire.

On the other hand, pity Charles did not consult Noah before tripping over his tool box

Exactly right. I too was used as cheap labour for a long time before being allowed near the tools, in my case Joiner and Wood Machinist.
I was once told by an experienced man i worked with, you never stop learning, someone better can always tell you something you didn't know, or how to do a job easier or better.
