Hollyoaks schoolboy Tom Cunningham will go missing in a forthcoming storyline, Digital Spy can reveal.

The popular teen, played by Ellis Hollins, does a disappearing act later this month after troubles within his family come to a head.

Tom is at the centre of more drama in upcoming episodes as he sees scheming Sienna Blake's true colours once again, finding out that she is lying about being pregnant.

However, when a hapless Darren Osborne continues to side with his deceitful partner, Tom is left feeling more lonely and isolated than ever. Viewers will see him decide to run away from the village, leaving a note behind.

As illustrated in the picture above, 'Missing' posters have recently been up on display on the Hollyoaks set as Tom's disappearance rocks the locals.

A Hollyoaks source told Digital Spy: "Tom's loved ones are distraught over his disappearance and launch a frantic search for him. It's only after he's gone missing that they all realise how unhappy he's been."

Hollyoaks bosses have announced that schoolboy Tom Cunningham is getting his own spinoff show.

The six-part mini-series is called Tom's Life and will launch on Channel 4's on-demand service 4oD today (October 27).

Life has never been easy for Tom (Ellis Hollins) and the past year has been no exception as he found himself caught up in Sienna Blake's web of deceit and was also heartbroken by Nancy and Darren Osborne's marriage split.

Tom's Life will explore the teenager's attempts to right a few wrongs by trying to get Nancy and Darren back together.

When Tom's plan to reunite the pair goes wrong he almost gives up completely, until he discovers an amazing new skill.

Episode one will be uploaded on the official 4oD site at 6.45pm today.

1. Get Your Head In The Game
After Nancy and Darren's break-up, Tom tries to get on the basketball team. But after being teased by bully Nate, Tom decides he needs to get Darren and Nancy back together.

2. Rock And A Hard Place
Tom is desperate to please Nancy and Darren and finds himself living two lives. But when he is invited to two different dinners on the same night, can he stomach it?

3. The Other Man
Tom's plan is in action - all he has to do is get Nancy to dinner. But when Rick asks Nancy out for a drink, the plan looks set to fall apart. Can Tom stop Rick?

6. Showtime
It's the day of the basketball match and Tom is desperate for Nancy and Darren to come. Will they make it and discover he's not playing basketball? He's doing something much more amazing than that.

After weeks of mystery, Hollyoaks' Tom Cunningham will return to the village tonight with a very important message for his girlfriend Peri Lomax.

Tom vanished with the rest of his family back in November, sparking a huge search party to ensure the clan are tracked down in one piece.

Last night's first look saw Nancy and Darren reappear when they had to make an emergency trip to a local hospital. But little is yet known about why they had to all disappear so quickly.

The exclusive clip above shows Tom making a top secret return to the village in order to speak to a worried Peri. However, his comeback will raise more questions than answers as he makes it clear he could be in serious danger if he's found.

Tom does attempt to reassure Peri that their baby daughter Steph is safe, but he panics when he hears a police car and immediately dashes off.

So, just what is going on with the Osbornes? And will Peri ever see Tom and her daughter again?

Hollyoaks is bringing back Ellis Hollins for an upcoming storyline involving legendary villain Clare Devine.

While details on how and why Clare returns are being kept under wraps, The Sun has reported that Hollins is reprising his role as Tom Cunningham for the storyline.

The actor, who landed the role of Tom when he was just 3 years old, bowed out from the Channel 4 soap back in September after an incredible 21-year run.

Hollyoaks boss Hannah Cheers has confirmed some details on Tom Cunningham's upcoming return.

Ellis Hollins bowed out from the role of Tom back in September after an incredible 21-year run, though it was recently confirmed that he would return for a guest stint amid Gemma Bissex's comeback as legendary villain Clare Devine.

Clare, who was presumed dead for years, was recently revealed to be the elusive Mrs Banks, the wife of corrupt cop Alistair who has been pulling the strings on the horrifying exploitation operation.

As well as teaming up with her sister Grace Black, Clare will once again come face to face with her "original nemesis" Tom.

Clare terrorised Tom when he was a child, locked him up, faked his death and tried to murder his brother Max in an attempt to steal their fortune.

Speaking to The Sun, Hollyoaks executive producer Hannah Cheers said that couldn't bring back Clare without having Tom around for another showdown.

"How could we possibly bring in Clare Devine and not have her original nemesis in the show?" she teased.

"Again, it's a kind of nod to the past and celebration of all things Hollyoaks. Tom has the upper hand to start with, which I think is what's so surprising about this story. And there's a surprise reveal of how we first find Tom."

Meanwhile, Bissex recently spoke to Digital Spy about her return as Clare, including the character's relationship with sister Grace.

"As she?s secretly been the top dog, Clare has been watching Grace all these years, and her sister wasn?t aware," she explained.

"At the beginning, Clare is quite cold to Grace, as she just wants to get her money and get back out there.

"But what?s great is there?s going to be a lot of backstory about Clare and Grace, which we?ve never known before. It?s great to delve into the Black family ? nobody is born evil, they become evil because of hurt and trauma."
