Jared Ashworth (Gareth Hunt)
The head of the Ashworth Family; Jared is like Richard Taylor in many ways: a rich and prosperous businessman, however he is far more successful than Richard. Jared owns a chain of hotels, health spas and coach companies in Devon and Cornwall, and has the monopoly on the accommodation area in the South West. Jared is a intelligent individual, whose brains and cunning have allowed him to succeed in such a competitive business, having taken over the family business at a young age due to various tragedies. Family is important to Jared, however he is lenient with his children, giving them all the freedom that they wish. There are very often family feuds but at the end of the day he has brought his children up to believe that Blood is thicker than water. No matter what the Ashworth Family will stay together and support each other.
Karen Ashworth (Cheri Lunghi)
Jared’s wife, Karen is the true brains behind the Ashworth company. It was Karen who gave Jared the money to expand the business, and in right the majority of the Ashworth’s fortunes belong to her. Karen concerns herself in the affairs of her family, doing her best to keep them together no matter what. Karen has a ruthless streak to her, and she is not a woman to be on the wrong side of. Respected by her family and all those that know her Karen is independent, confident and sophisticated.
Max Ashworth (Martin Kemp)
The UK’s version of JR Ewing. Max is a successful businessman, the apple of his father’s eye Max is heavily involved in the Ashworth family business, earning millions a year from both that and other ventures.
Max has everything he could want in life: a glamorous and loving wife, two intelligent and beautiful children, and the permission to sleep with who he chooses when he chooses. Max is the ultimate playboy, driving fast cars, , drinking fine wines and bedding countless women. He has few friends and many enemies, but he wouldn’t have it any other way.
Sophia Lloyd-Ashworth (Michelle Collins)
The Taylors/Ashworths may see many bitch fights and feuds, but not any of these feisty females compare to Sophia Lloyd-Ashworth. She is the queen of the bitches, and has made it clear that she is the top of the hierarchy of women in the Ashworth family. Totally materialistic, but she has never done a days hard work in her life. A once successful model, she has been married to Max for over 20 years. Their love for each other is passionate and strong, the pair know how each other works and what motivates them. Sophia is comfortable with her luxurious lifestyle and place in the Ashworth Family, she therefore allows Max to have his mistresses and affairs, as she too has fun from time to time. Sophia has a strong bond with father in law Jared, does their history go deeper than in laws?
Will Ashworth (Rupert Penry Jones)
Will is the middle child of the Ashworth Siblings. With a family filled with ruthless capitalists and bitchy matriarchs, Will is the carming force of the Ashworth family. Very much like Nick Taylor, Will is a good natured man, who very often disagrees with the choices his family makes. Unlike his brother Max Will ditched the playboy lifestyle and refused to be handed his money on a plate, he went to university and worked hard to become a successful lawyer, not depending on his own family. Will chooses his women carefully, and is the ultimate definition of an eligible bachelor.
Lauren Ashworth (Danielle Brent)
Lauren is the youngest of the Ashworth siblings. But what she lacks in age, she makes up for in immorality. Being brought up as a spoilt little brat has made taught Lauren that manipulation can get you anything she wants. Lauren is sly, devious and ruthless, Taking the sexuality and ruthlessness of her mother, and the intelligence and family values of her father Lauren is a highly sexed female who will do anything to get what she wants to protect those around her.
Olivia Zitek (Alison King)
Olivia is a “ghetto princess”. Brought up on a rough council estate Olivia has been taught by the school of hard knocks. It takes a lot to break this tough cookie; she is a ruthless gold-digger who thrives on money. Olivia has used her natural good looks to get where she is, working in strip clubs and as a female escort to the rich to earn her money . It is clear she is not just another floozy, when she becomes Max’s latest mistress it is clear she is going to become a permanent fixture in the Ashworth family, whether they like it or not.
