    'Hangovers' on Neighbours TV soap

Actors on TV soap Neighbours often arrived on set with drink and drug induced hangovers, a court has heard.
Actor Jay Bunyan was a witness in the unfair dismissal case brought by his on-screen father - actor Shane Connor - against Grundy Television in Australia.

Bunyan said: "It's not uncommon for cast members to turn up in that state."

In 2003, Connor, who played Joe Scully, was sacked after a warning about his on-set behaviour. He had overcome an amphetamine problem, the court heard.

Bunyan played Joe Scully's son, Jack, on Neighbours between July 2002 and August 2004.

After defence questioning, he told the Victorian Supreme Court he had seen actors arriving to work with hangovers "on many occasions", Australian Associated Press reported.

"They usually get quick-smart into make-up to hide it," he said.

Bunyan said he had a close relationship with Connor but denied "slanting" his evidence to help him.

Shane Connor played builder Scully on Neighbours for four years.

The Australian show celebrated its 20th birthday last week.

It launched the careers of Kylie Minogue, Holly Valance, Natalie Imbruglia and Jason Donovan as well as Hollywood stars Russell Crowe and Guy Pearce.

yes because Jack was such an ****, i hated him so much, and i hated Nina for taking him back.
which in unfortunately clouding my judgement of what Jay Bunyan is saying about the show. i'm sure lots of soaps have cast members who turn up with hangovers, hey we've all turned up at work hungover and its not even as if our jobs are to go to celeb parties, so i can understand that. but he's been saying that half the cast are on speed and stuff like that, i don't know what to believe there...
