Goodbye My Lover - Part 4

Did I disappoint you, or let you down?
Should I be feeling guilty, or let the judges frown?

Chrissie walked up to Jake who was gathering some empty glasses in.
Chrissie: I'll help you.
She went to pick up a glass but Jake went for the same one. Their hands touched. Their eyes met. He smiled and leant closer to her. She kissed him gently. Both pulled away, each sharing a smile as they walked around the bar.

Chrissie watched Jake as he brought in a suitcase and a couple of boxes of his stuff. She went to serve Dot and Pauline, who were also watching him.
Chrissie: What can I get you two?
Dot: I'll just have an orange juice. Pauline what would you like?
But her mind was on other things as she watched Jake disappear out the back. She looked at Chrissie, digusted.
Pauline: What's he doing?
Chrissie: Moving in.
Pauline: But he can't! Didn't you think about Sharon? That's typical! You showed no interest what so ever in the plans for Den's funeral and..
She was interrupted by Chrissie.
Chrissie: I did think about Sharon, but I need to move on and so does she.
Dot: I think it's a good idea. After all you've been through this year, you need to look to the future.
Chrissie: Thankyou Dot.
She gave her the orange juice.
Chrissie: It's on the house. Now Pauline, are you going to buy a drink or just stand here going on at me? I'd choose the first one if I were you.
Jake reappeared and joined Chrissie, putting his arm around her.
Pauline: -She spoke with a false smile- I'll have a tonic water please.
Jake got her the drink and placed it on the bar.
Chrissie: That's 50p please.
Pauline got the right change out and dropped it into the palm of Chrissie's hand.
Chrissie: Thankyou.
Jake kissed Chrissie on the lips gently. Pauline tutted and took her drink.

Sharon and Dennis arrived back in the square after their honeymoon. Sharon went into the Vic. Chrissie called her over.
Chrissie: Hi. How was your holiday?
Sharon: Great.
She hugged Chrissie.
Chrissie: Can we talk?
She nodded and followed Chrissie and Jake up to the living room.
Jake: Well, alot has happened since you've been away..
Sharon: Has something bad happened?
Chrissie: No, nothing like that.
Sharon: Well what is it then?
Chrissie looked at Jake.
Chrissie: I'm pregnant.
Sharon blinked.
Sharon: Pregnant?
Chrissie: Yes..
Sharon: I take it the baby's Jake's, yeah?
Chrissie: Yes.
Sharon: Congratulations!
Chrissie was shocked by her reaction. She didn't expect this at all. Sharon came over and hugged her.
Chrissie: But that's not all.
Sharon: What?
Chrissie: Jake's moved in with me.
Sharon: Oh..
Jake: I can move back out if you want..
Sharon: No it's alright. I guess I'm glad you're happy.
She smiled. Mo called up for help in the bar. Chrissie started to get up.
Sharon: I'll go.
Chrissie: Are you sure?
She nodded with a smile and left the room. Chrissie turned back to Jake.
Jake: Well now we're alone.
Chrissie: So we are.
Their eyes locked and they kissed. They let the passion take over.
