Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, Ben Driscoll actor Aaron McCusker revealed he and his co-stars are currently filming a massive new plot that fans "won't see coming". The long-running storyline will see characters tested, and is set to spark a huge reaction with fans.

Aaron teased there were twists and turns aplenty on the way, and something fans will not expect will rock the new family on the cobbles. It will run into the new year, and not even Aaron knows how it will end just yet.

He told us: "There is a huge storyline coming up for the family which you don't see coming. It will drag out for a while, it has to, but when it eventually happens it will get a reaction.

"It will test the family, Ben and Eva, and it will test Maggie. It remains to be seen where they're going with it but I'm sure there will be more twists too. But the big storyline we are working on at the minute, I am looking forward to seeing the reaction to it.

"It's a huge storyline that is coming up, and it is gonna rock us as a family." Teasing what fans can expect from the Driscolls following Eva Price's "mother-in-law from hell" Maggie arriving, Aaron shared that there's plenty of big moments ahead.

He said: "There?s lots of fun, lots of secrets and lots of in-fighting. Right now we are letting the audience get to know us and taking it from there. It's gonna be a lot of fun in The Rovers, very raucous.

Coronation Street is set to air a shocking killer twist for its popular new family The Driscolls after the truth comes out about one member of the family during a special flashback episode. Last month it was reported that former EastEnders star Aidan O'Callaghan would be joining the cobbles to star in an upcoming episode of Corrie focussing on newcomer Ben Driscoll's past.

While little is known about the flashback episode, O'Callaghan recently confirmed he had traded in Walford for Weatherfield after posting a picture of himself outside the Rovers Return on Instagram.

Viewers know that Ben recently joined the soap alongside his wife Eva Price, played by returning star Catherine Tyldesley, their children and Ben's mother Maggie Driscoll, played by Father Ted star Pauline McLynn.

According to The Sun, the flashback episode will reveal which member of the Driscoll family is hiding a big secret.

During the episode, Driscoll matriarch Maggie will reportedly be seen killing off a major figure in a reveal that will "send shockwaves" through Weatherfield.

The killing is supposed to have happened before the family moved into the Rovers and Maggie's son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren are unaware of what she has done.

Her secret won't stay hidden for long, however, and will apparently be revealed in a bombshell moment in the lead-up to Christmas.

Digital Spy reached out to Corrie on this story, who aren't commenting on this storyline speculation.

Speaking recently to Digital Spy about her character, McLynn teased some exciting storylines over the festive period, saying: "I was told she's larger than life and gets on with everyone. Although obviously, there are family dynamics ? in every family there are. And maybe at some stage, the carpet will be pulled from under everyone's feet.

Now that I've been filming for a while, I know that Maggie is fiercely loyal and protective of her family. There'll be things happening over Christmas where you think: 'Oh come on, that's very bad behaviour at the very least!'

"Maggie likes to throw in the most outrageous things, just to see how far she can go. But often that line has been long passed! And she'll say: 'What's the fuss about? You're a bit touchy, aren't you?'

"If you're a certain age, you might feel you have a certain licence to act badly, you know? Because you're the mammy."
