    MONDAY

The Mitchell family is reeling from the terrible turn of events involving Phil Mitchell

Many of Phil's nearest and dearest had no idea how far his mental health had deteriorated since before Christmas.

During last week's 40th Anniversary episodes Phil's brother Grant (Ross Kemp) and friends, Nigel Bates (Paul Bradley) and Linda Carter (Kellie Bright), desperately confronted Phil over at The Arches, where he had hit rock bottom...

As the drama continues, there's tension between Nigel and Grant after what happened.

Other members of the Mitchell family have plenty of questions for irritated Grant.

Can the tough guy keep his temper under control as he continues to face intense scrutiny and criticism over his actions...

The residents of Albert Square have been left shell-shocked after the explosive events during the wedding day celebrations of Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) and his bride, Honey (Emma Barton).

They struggle to come to terms with the aftermath of the disaster at the Vic...

Meanwhile, there's a glimmer of happiness and hope for Denise Fox (Diane Parish).

After months of being caught between two men, ex-husband Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) and bad boy lover Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara), Denise has finally made up her mind!

    TUESDAY

Is Grant Mitchell (played by Ross Kemp) about to let loose and punch someone

We've certainly seen the tough guy let his fists do the talking plenty of times over the years!

In the aftermath of what happened to Grant's brother Phil (Steve McFadden), the rest of the Mitchell family continue to question Grant's actions.

During a family breakfast at the cafe, tensions rise again between Grant and the rest of the clan.

It all threatens to kick-off, and after some hearing some harsh home truths, Grant storms off!

In the meantime, Nigel Bates (Paul Bradley), a long-time friend of both brothers, feels caught in the middle.

And Nigel still has his own personal demons to battle after recently confiding in friend, Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter), about his diagnosis with dementia.

Nigel is adamant that he still doesn't want anyone else to know about his diagnosis.

    Especially not Grant.

Unfortunately, Grant overhears a conversation between Nigel and Yolande...

Emotions remain high in Walford following the explosive events on Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) and Honey's (Emma Barton) wedding day.

The community pulls together to support each other as they attempt to adjust to the aftermath of what happened.

Over at No.20, Denise Fox (Diane Parish) has decided to officially introduce her new partner to the rest of her family.

    WHO is it?

Is it her ex-husband, Jack Branning (Scott Maslen).

Or bad boy lover Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara)?

How will the rest of Denise's family react?

    WEDNESDAY

Nigel Bates (played by Paul Bradley) returned to Albert Square for the first time in over 20 years last Christmas Eve

Despite putting on a brave face for old friends, Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) and Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean), it soon became clear Nigel was hiding a BIG secret from those around him.

He eventually confided in Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter) that he had been diagnosed with early onset dementia.

And walked out on his wife, Julie Haye, without telling her the truth.

Julie is desperate for "missing" Nigel to return home...

Grant Mitchell (Ross Kemp) is alarmed after accidentally overhearing a conversation between Nigel and Yolande.

Put on the spot, Nigel reveals the truth about his diagnosis...

But coming clean brings Nigel no comfort, as it's not long before he and Grant are arguing again!

An emotional Grant storms off to try and get his head around Nigel's devastating news.

In that moment, Grant turns to the only person in Albert Square he believes can help him.

    WHO?

Elsewhere, one Walford family is in need of help from their friends and neighbours.

PLUS, another resident of Albert Square confides a BIG secret to a friend.

Only to soon discover that they have been overheard!

    Uh-oh...

    THURSDAY

It's been an emotional overload for long-time friends, Grant Mitchell (played by Ross Kemp) and Nigel Bates (Paul Bradley),

First, there was the devastating turn of events involving Grant's troubled brother, Phil (Steve McFadden).

And now Grant has discovered that his bestie Nigel is dealing with a diagnosis of dementia...

But rather than support Nigel in his time of need, Grant managed to cause another argument between the friends.

Grant is convinced that he has gone too far and left it too late to make amends with Nigel.

    Unless...

After unexpectedly making amends with SOMEONE else in Albert Square, after years of resentment, Grant realises he and Nigel can put their differences aside too.

But how will Nigel react when Grant unexpectedly breaks the news that it's time for him to leave Walford and fly home to Portugal.

And he wants Nigel to pack his bags and go with him!

Is Nigel ready to say goodbye to the place where he lived for so many years and start a new chapter in the sun?

The iconic Queen Vic pub is now a DANGER zone after the wedding day explosion.

So where can the surviving residents of Albert Square meet to drink and argue now?

The doors to Harry's Barn are soon open.

But it's a sombre gathering as there's more drama brewing between the grief-stricken locals...

    Exclamation EastEnders spoilers 24th - 27th February 2025

    https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/eas...-nigel-secret/

Note: This article discusses topics including suicide.

EastEnders has teased two more major exits next week, as Grant Mitchell discovers Nigel Bates' tragic secret.

Phil Mitchell's mental health has continued to deteriorate, and last week he experienced hallucinations of his traumatic past in a special episode.

After an interaction with a young Peggy Mitchell, it seemed like Phil had made the decision to take his own life. But he was interrupted by Nigel, who returned to Walford with Phil's brother Grant.

In this week's episodes, Nigel and Grant team up with Linda Carter to help save Phil when they discover he is going to harm himself, but Phil is at rock bottom and believes there is no way out.

How Phil's story unfolds is yet to be revealed, but in scenes that will air next week, there is tension between Grant and Nigel at No.55 the morning after the fateful day ? which also saw a deadly explosion in The Vic.

Other members of the Mitchell family arrive with plenty of questions for Grant. As he faces criticism about his actions, he struggles to control his temper.

Grant is irritated, but after receiving some helpful advice, he makes a decision in a bid to put things right with his family.

The next day, Grant and Nigel have breakfast in the caf? with the Mitchells, but tensions soon rise again between Grant and his family, and he leaves after hearing some harsh words.

Yolande Trueman spots this confrontation and later comforts Nigel, encouraging him to tell Grant about his dementia diagnosis. While he makes it clear that he wants to keep it quiet, Grant overhears and he demands the truth.

Grant then learns the about Nigel's early onset dementia and storms out of the house after the pair row. He is emotional about his old friend's diagnosis and struggles to get his head around it ? so he visits the one person he believes can help him.

Later, after making an assumption and being left disappointed, Grant decides it's time to leave Walford. But before he takes off, he supports an unlikely source as they put their historic differences aside.

As he says his goodbyes, Grant has a proposition for Nigel. He asks his friend to move to Portugal with him and promises to support him through his dementia.

What has happened to Phil, and will Nigel decide to leave Albert Square with Grant?

EastEnders has teased the emotional aftermath of the deadly anniversary week, ahead of the huge explosion in The Vic.

To mark 40 years on television, the soap is currently airing a dramatic week of episodes set across one fateful day, with Walford's beloved pub being set ablaze.

In Tuesday's episode (February 18), a series of events and two major showdowns will lead to an explosion from inside The Vic, and it has been confirmed that not everyone will make it out alive.

Meanwhile, it will finally be revealed who attacked Cindy Beale on Christmas Day, and Grant Mitchell will team up with Nigel Bates and Linda Carter to help save Phil Mitchell as he makes a tragic decision.

This big week will culminate in an exciting live episode on Thursday, February 20, with Sonia Fowler going into labour in the middle of the disaster.

Just what unfolds during these episodes is being kept tightly under wraps for now. But in scenes that will air next week, Albert Square's residents wake up the morning after the explosion, struggling to process the enormity of the previous day's events.

Walford attempts to adjust to its new normal after the tragedy, and while emotions remain high, the community manages to pull together to support one another during this difficult time.

One family in particular find themselves looking for help from their friends and neighbours in the aftermath, and are touched by the kindness of a local who welcomes them in.

With bombshells being revealed in the anniversary episodes, another resident tells a friend a big secret next week, but they soon realise that they have been overheard.

As the community gathers together at Harry's Barn to grieve, the sombre occasion ends up sparking even more drama between residents.

Elsewhere, this week viewers will be able to make their voices heard and decide whether Denise Fox should end up with Ravi Gulati or Jack Branning ? with the result being revealed during the live episode.

Next week, Denise and her mystery man agree to tell their loved ones about their relationship, and she introduces her new partner to her family.

But will Denise, and the viewers, choose Ravi or Jack?
