    Exclamation Emmerdale Spoilers 13th - 17 January 2025

    https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/emm...est-discovery/

The following article contains discussion of sexual misconduct.

Emmerdale airs more emotional scenes for Ruby Fox-Miligan next week as her husband Caleb finds out about her secret DNA test.

Ruby is put on the spot when Caleb stumbles across the results at home and seeks an explanation over what she's hiding.

The ITV soap recently explored Ruby's traumatic past, as an emotional flashback episode revealed that her father Anthony sexually abused her when she was a child.

Ruby suspects that Anthony could be the biological father of her daughter Steph. She has since arranged a DNA test to find out whether the results rule out Caleb as the father or not.

Although Ruby has confided in her sister-in-law Chas Dingle with some of the story, she hasn't shared the distressing details of Anthony's involvement.

Next week, Ruby receives the DNA test results but stuffs them into her handbag when Caleb returns home suddenly.

Ruby then spends the rest of the day agonising over what the results might show. She once again confides in Chas, who suggests that Caleb won't turn his back on his family regardless of the outcome.

Despite these words of encouragement, Ruby wonders whether it's best to simply destroy the letter without ever looking at what the results say.

The emotional situation comes to a head when Caleb searches through Ruby's handbag for painkillers.

He finds the envelope containing the results and is baffled by the implications of Ruby organising the test.

As Caleb tries to find out what's going on, how much will Ruby share with him? And could the Miligans' marriage be impacted by what the results show?

Beth Cordingly, who plays Ruby, explained: "She's like a deer stuck in the headlights in that moment. He is standing there looking at her, and until he says what the results are, she has no idea herself.

"So it's not even just the situation of walking in and finding out someone has found something that you didn't want them to find. On top of that is the bombshell that she doesn't know what's in it.

"So it's like this unexploded bomb he's holding ? that he now knows the answer to, and no-one else in the whole world knows. So she just doesn't really know what to do.

"I remember filming it, I remember exactly the feeling when I was standing there looking at him, thinking: 'There's so much going on'. All it says on the DNA test is whether Caleb is the father or not."

She continued: "It's going to be emotional. Caleb is aware that there's only really one other person on the scene at that time, her friend Rob that her dad keeps talking about, who we saw in the flashback episode.

"It's only her and the audience that know he is gay. That's something that I think is really lovely that they've put in for Ruby ? that is just a nice little thing that's never really mentioned, is the fact that she never, ever, at times when she could, she never says to her dad he was gay."

Emmerdale airs these scenes on Wednesday, January 15 and Thursday, January 16 on ITV1 and ITVX.

Emmerdale's Joe Tate finally makes some progress with his half-brother Noah Dingle next week.

Joe has been fighting for another chance from Noah since returning to the village and is pleased when he gets close to a breakthrough.

When Joe first arrived back at Christmas, Noah gave him a frosty reception following unresolved issues from the past.

Noah was annoyed with Joe for letting him believe that he was dead when he left the village in 2017. Joe later made matters worse by insulting the Dingle family while Noah was in earshot.

Knowing that he needs to make amends, Joe treats Noah next week by offering him VIP tickets to a Leeds match.

With Noah clearly delighted, his mum Charity fears that Joe is already managing to worm his way back in.

Charity takes action by asking Ross Barton to step in and warn Joe off.

Ross complies and manages to scare Joe off from taking Noah to the football game. Although this upsets Noah, scheming Charity can't help feeling pleased that Ross's intervention was a success.

Never one to back down easily, Joe soon comes up with another way to get close to Noah. Will it work ? and can Charity ever accept Joe finding a place in the Dingle family?

Emmerdale aired Joe's return to the show on Christmas Eve and show bosses soon promised a big storyline for him this year.

Ned Porteous, who plays Joe, said at the time: "I'm so excited to be returning to Emmerdale. There's a lot of unfinished business for Joe, and it feels like the right time for him to make a comeback.

"Joe has always been a character with a dark side, but there could be something much bigger at play here. Joe is back for a reason, and the devastation at Home Farm is just the beginning of a much bigger story."

Emmerdale's producer Laura Shaw added: "We are thrilled to welcome Ned back to the village as the complex and captivating Joe Tate. From the moment Joe arrives on screen, it's clear there's trouble ahead but Joe's hiding an even darker secret that could see 2025 start off with a huge bang."

Emmerdale airs these scenes on Monday, January 13 on ITV1 and ITVX.

    MONDAY

Marlon Dingle admits his fear that April is dead i

Weeks have passed since April Windsor vanished on Christmas Day and there's still no sign of her.

Marlon is a dad on the brink and is haunted by an awful nightmare in which his missing daughter is found to be dead.

Though he wakes to realise it was only a dream, he's totally shaken by how vivid the whole nightmare was and struggles to hide his shock from Rhona.

The bad news keeps on coming as Vanessa's forced to show Marlon what is being said online about his wife Rhona.

Though the pair try to keep the ugly truth from her, Rhona learns that her past is being dredged up by trolls and websites and the blame for April's disappearance is being lain at her door.

Later, the tearful couple weep together as Marlon shakily voices his darkest fears that April may no longer be alive.

As the locals rally to breathe new energy into the search for the teenager, Rhona hears from their police liaison officer?

    Has there been a sighting?

At Butler's, Cain is desperate to be the husband Moira deserves as she prepares to begin her radiotherapy.

Trying to ignore the guilt that's eating away at him about his one-night stand with his sister-in-law Ruby, Cain tells his touched wife he'll be there for her every step of the way.

Elsewhere, Charity ropes in Ross' help to keep Joe away from Noah, and Nicola arranges for Anthony to start tutoring Angel, unaware that he's a paedophile.

    TUESDAY

Ruby Miligan has the results of Steph's paternity test ? but will she open them

It's a question that has tortured Ruby Miligan since she was 16.

Is her abusive dad Anthony the father of her daughter Steph ? or her childhood sweetheart and one true love Caleb?

Well, the wait is over as the test results have arrived.

With neither Steph nor Caleb unaware that a question mark is hanging over their biological relationship, Ruby's had to shoulder her awful secret for decades and has never felt able to confide in her husband that her dad abused her.

Knowing the toxic truth will blow up her already fragile family ties, Ruby doesn't know which way to turn and backs out of opening the tell-all letter.

Elsewhere, village nurse Wendy is put in a terrible situation when a journalist blackmails her in the wake of the online smear campaign against Rhona.

In Leeds, Marlon is determined to search every nook and cranny for his runaway daughter April.

As he pounds the streets his heart races when he thinks he's spotted her. But as he races towards the girl, the stricken dad realises it's not his beloved April just someone who looks like her.

Trudging on, Marlon runs into Ross. Their interaction gets off to a frosty start but Ross rises above the animosity and does his best to try to boost the distraught Dingle's spirits.

As the men team up they're sorely reminded that April is just one of thousands of missing people.

Back in the village, Charity's pleased when her plot to keep Joe away from her son Noah pays off. But Noah's disappointed when his estranged half-brother, Joe, backs out of taking him to a footie match.

    WEDNESDAY

Ruby is in a terrible situation

After a dark night of the soul, and a heart-to-heart with Chas, tortured Ruby Miligan decides it's better never to know whether her dad Anthony or her husband Caleb is her daughter Steph's biological father.

Though the question has plagued her since she fell pregnant at 16, as a grown up Ruby decides the truth is just too terrible to face.

Hoping she can continue to suppress the awful secret that her father abused her, Ruby had planned on destroying the incriminating evidence.

But to her sheer horror, Caleb ends up finding the letter himself when he rummages through her bag looking for a painkiller.

How will Caleb react to find out his paternity has been in question all this time? Will Ruby tell Caleb the full, terrible story?

Meanwhile, Laurel schedules further tuition for Arthur, unaware Anthony is a paedophile who abused his daughter Ruby throughout her childhood.

    THURSDAY

Wendy Posner lives to regret her desperate actions

Wendy Posner's been caught up in a dark situation in the wake of April Windsor's disappearance.

Trolls and journalists have been digging around for answers in all the wrong places and depositing their theories online.

Not only has Rhona had her character smeared and been blamed for her stepdaughter's plight but village nurse Wendy has found herself dragged into the murky backlash and has been blackmailed by a local journalist.

As Wendy's nightmare continues, she's desperate to save herself from having her complicated past dug up, rehashed and plastered all over the web.

Having bargained with the writer, Wendy's thrown former child killer Ella under the bus to deflect attention but she's about to find out she's not out of the woods ? not by a long chalk?

When the nurse's efforts backfire, Wendy is about to be cancelled as her life and career implode?

Elsewhere, Joe Tate has another stab at building bridges with his half-brother Noah.

    FRIDAY

Is Wendy Posner leaving the village?

As someone's past is confronted, someone is set to leave the village as the week's episodes come to a close.

But is it Wendy Posner who's packing her bags?

With the nurse having had her shady past blown up despite her attempts to use Ella's killer crime to protect herself, Wendy's name is mud.

Is she about to walk away from Bob, her grandson Harry and the life she's built up in Emmerdale?

Elsewhere the offer of a reward attracts unwanted attention?

    https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/emm...er-exit-story/

Emmerdale's Wendy Posner faces a backlash next week as her exit storyline begins.

The nurse is caught out for betraying one of her colleagues after a journalist starts snooping into the lives of the villagers.

Upcoming scenes see the local media start to write articles about April Windsor's disappearance.

April ran away from home at Christmas and her family have been trying to raise awareness in the hope of bringing in new leads.

This week's episodes see the attention intensify after April's dad Marlon Dingle records an emotional appeal video, which goes viral.

Next week, the local Hotten Courier newspaper weighs in with a damning article about April's stepmum Rhona Goskirk.

The reaction to the article sends shockwaves around the village. When the journalist then pays a visit to snoop out some more stories, Wendy finds herself caught in a blackmailing situation.

Viewers will have to tune in to see what dirt the reporter has on Wendy, who ultimately decides to protect herself. Wendy offers up details of Ella Forster's past to cover up her own misdemeanours.

Last year, Emmerdale revealed that Ella is a child killer, as she took the life of her only friend Joanne in a jealous rage when they were both 11 years old.

Ella (then known as Ruth) served a long sentence for her crime ? initially in a facility for young offenders and later in an adult prison.

Since being released, Ella has tried to turn her life around but has often had to move from place to place due to her past frequently being exposed.

Following Wendy's betrayal, her life and career look set to implode as she faces the consequences at the Brook Cottage Surgery, where she currently works alongside Ella.

Before long, Wendy has another big choice to make.

Last month, it was revealed that Susan Cookson ? who played Wendy ? had been written out of the ITV soap after five years. She has already filmed her final scenes.

Paula Lane, who plays Ella, is also leaving as part of the 2025 cast changes.

Emmerdale airs these scenes on Thursday, January 16 and Friday, January 17 on ITV1 and ITVX.
