    Exclamation Mick and Lou

Coronation Street producer Kate Brooks has announced that new characters will be joining the show in 2025.

The ITV soap has decided to introduce a new couple, Mick and his wife Lou, who'll live on nearby Maudsley Street.

Fans can expect the pair to interact with established character Chesney Brown and relative newcomer DC Kit Green, who joined the show in May.

Speaking to Digital Spy and other media at a recent Corrie press event, Brooks commented: "We've got some great characters coming in. They are Mick and Lou. They're coming to live at the back of Chesney, on Maudsley Street across the ginnel.

"They are livewires, they are ruffians and they are going to cause a lot of damage and chaos. There is a link to Chesney initially, but they are coming to stir up a lot of trouble. They open up the floodgates by unpacking the past of Kit, who's one of our big characters."

She continued: "We're really excited. They come in with oodles of drama and they are shaking things up. They're neighbours from hell. They're overfamiliar, likeable and they've got kids.

"Initially they develop a friendship with Chesney and Gemma, but there are other things to unpack. I wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of them ? especially Mick!

"They are brilliant actors. They are coming to cause some chaos on the street and they will leave a trail of devastation. They're coming onto the street all guns blazing around February time.

"They're really chaotic but really enjoyable. They have a charm to them, but they do and say things that you shouldn't!"

As well as Mick and Lou, Brooks has announced plans to introduce Kevin and Debbie Webster's younger half-brother Carl ? who has never featured in the show until now.

Asked whether 2025 will also include some cast exits, Brooks confirmed: "There are a few exits this year, and some unexpected ones that will send shockwaves. People might not expect the exits, but there are a few?"

Coronation Street has cast Joe Layton and Farrel Hegarty to play Chesney and Gemma?s neighbours ? Mick and Lou Michaelis.

The couple will give Ches and Gemma a right ?nightmare? of a time, with the soap airing drama from the houses across the ginnel for the first time.

Mick and Lou will move into Mawdsley Street on the back of Ches and Gemma?s house, with Lou appearing first on February 12th and then with Mick following her shortly after.

Viewers might recognise Joe for his former appearances in shows such as Casualty, Young Wallander, and Glow & Darkness.

Farrel might be familiar for her roles in Brassic, Emmerdale, and Murder, They Hope. She also has a large social media following, with 123k followers on Instagram.

She?s also appeared on Corrie before as a reporter back in 2019.

Speaking about her arrival on the Street as Lou, Farrel Hegarty said: ?I?m delighted and so grateful to be joining the cast of Coronation Street. I have genuinely been blown away by how ridiculously warm and nice everyone is.

?Lou is definitely an exciting character to play because she?s got good and bad parts to her, she?s a life force and full of beans. She?s a very colourful person who likes to make waves and try to cause chaos. But she also has that strong family loyalty, especially between Mick and Lou, they are thick as thieves and will stick up for each other, even when they probably shouldn?t??

Joe Layton who plays Mick also shared: ?Coronation Street is such an institute in British television and to get to walk down the cobbles in Mick?s shoes is so exciting. To also do it alongside Farrel is awesome ? we are having great fun together and connecting really well whilst developing our characters.

?It also gives the opportunity to get a look behind the curtain of this huge machine and be a small cog within the big picture of Coronation Street and to work alongside people who take such pride in their work. It?s just a really happy place, friendly and welcoming. I?m going to relish every moment of it.?

Mick and Lou will be Ches and Gemma?s ?nightmare neighbours.? Lou will appear first on February 12, recognising Gemma as a mum from Bessie Street.

On February 14, Lou?s partner Mick then makes an entrance. And, Chesney has no idea that he?s the man in that silver van that?s been pestering him.

Both couples then become friends, but it seems that Mick and Lou already have a connection to one of their family members ? Kit Green.

They share a past with him that leads them to exposing a huge secret of his.

Corrie producer Kate Brooks teased: ?Chaotic and loud, Mick and Lou bulldoze their way into Weatherfield, causing absolute carnage for the residents of Coronation Street.

?Their relationship is volatile to say the least, but at the heart of it lies a fierce sense of family loyalty, and woe betide anyone who tries to come between them. Although they?re the life and soul of any party, they?re equally not everyone?s cup of tea, and they soon find themselves at the root of some explosive drama.

?We?re thrilled to introduce these new characters into the mix, and the cobbles certainly won?t be quiet with this family around.?

Coronation Street has officially confirmed the casting details for new characters Mick and Lou Michaelis.

The chaotic couple ? billed as "nightmare neighbours" ? will be moving into nearby Mawdsley Street in upcoming episodes.

Farrel Hegarty has been cast in the role of Lou, who appears for the first time on February 12.

Lou strikes up a friendship with Gemma Winter-Brown as they recognise each other from Bessie Street School, where Gemma's quads and Lou's two young daughters attend.

Joe Layton has signed up for the role of Mick, who makes his debut on February 14.

In a twist, Mick is revealed as the mysterious man in the silver van who has been tormenting Gemma's husband Chesney in recent weeks.

For the time being, Chesney remains oblivious to who Mick really is. However, with Mick and Lou moving to live right at the back of Chesney and Gemma's house, on the other side of the ginnel, it's surely only a matter of time before the truth comes out.

Show bosses have warned that Coronation Street's residents should watch their backs, as Mick and Lou will make life difficult for anyone who crosses them.

They also have a previous connection to corrupt police detective Kit Green and will expose his secretive past.

Speaking about her role as Lou, Farrel Hegarty commented: "I'm delighted and so grateful to be joining the cast of Coronation Street. I have genuinely been blown away by how ridiculously warm and nice everyone is.

"Lou is definitely an exciting character to play because she's got good and bad parts to her, she's a life force and full of beans. She's a very colourful person who likes to make waves and try to cause chaos.

Coronation Street has unveiled details for new character Lou Michaelis' first scenes.

The soap recently unveiled the new resident, who is set to move into Mawdsley Street alongside her husband Mick.

However, it looks like they're set to ruffle some feathers, not least given that Mick is the mystery man with a van who has been tormenting Chesney Brown recently. Plus, the couple have been touted as "nightmare neighbours".

In the new scenes that air next Wednesday (February 12) and Friday (February 14), Gemma heads to the corner shop and is amused to see Lou giving Aadi a hard time over a pack of night time pull-ups.

Lou quickly recognises Gemma from Bessie Street as one of the other mums, and she later heads to the pub and manages to convince Gemma to join her for a drink.

Later on in the week, Chesney returns home on Valentine's Day with cakes, admitting he's sure he's spotted the van again. Gemma tells him about Lou and Mick moving in, revealing they've arranged to meet the new couple for a drink.

Could this be the start of a new friendship, or will things turn bad when Chesney finds out the truth about Mick?

Speaking recently about Chesney inevitably learning the truth, Mick actor Joe Layton explained: "I think the audience will be shocked to realise that it's Mick who was harassing Chesney all this time.

"It's been drip fed out and from what I've seen, no one knew what was happening with the man with the silver van. It's been great to have that kind of depth to play with and it's been fun."

Coronation Street's newest bad boy Mick Michaelis will leave the soap this summer.

Joe Layton, who plays the troublesome character, will film his final scenes for the ITV soap next month.

Mick has been stirring up trouble for the cobbles regulars since moving into nearby Mawdsley Street in mid-February.

The new arrival has been making enemies all round ? so there'll no doubt be some relief for our favourite characters when his stay turns out to be short-lived.

A report in The Sun has revealed that there's a big exit lined up for Mick in the summer.

Digital Spy understands that Joe signed a fixed-term contract when he joined the cast of Coronation Street late last year.

As with many characters, Mick was brought in for a specific storyline which will run over the coming months.

An insider told us: "Mick will be on screen until late July, so there's lots more story to come."

Speaking at the start of the year, Joe described his character as "impulsive, hot-headed and unpredictable".

He added: "I really enjoy playing what people would refer to as a baddie or a villain, because for me the most interesting thing is how we move past the first initial judgment of them, especially when you're going to be playing them.

"It's really interesting because when you're playing a character, a part of you has got to love them and empathise with them and understand them. I always think 'how do I get into this character's shoes and why is it the way he is and why does he do the things that he does?'

"So I always find it really rewarding and a real kind of privilege to play any character, but especially the psychologically complex characters."
