EastEnders has confirmed that a special episode involving Linda Carter will air later this month, as her alcoholism story takes an even darker turn.

In recent episodes, Linda?s drinking has continued to spiral out of control, and her family and friends have been unable to help her tackle her demons.

Next week, Johnny becomes frustrated with her mum when Ollie is affected by her drunken behaviour and witnesses Linda throwing some customers out of The Vic.

After he confronts her about her drinking, Linda decides to leave and goes to stay with Sharon, who also gives her some tough love.

Linda steals some alcohol from the Minute Mart after Alfie refuses to sell it to her, and he later finds that Sharon?s house was broken into because Linda left the door open.

She falls to new depths after painful confrontations with her loved ones, and Elaine returns from her honeymoon to discover that Linda has reached a new low.

While Elaine strives to get her daughter back on track, a "truly shocking and devastating day" leaves her with no choice but to issue Linda with an ultimatum.

In scenes that will air on Monday, December 16, Linda is faced with a big choice, but heartbreakingly, she decides to choose the bottle over anything else.

After making her decision, Linda then leaves, and a dangerous night of alcohol abuse unfolds on screen.

These are the only details given about the fateful evening, but as there are no other storylines mentioned, it appears that this is an episode focused solely on Linda ? with the exact chain of events remaining under wraps.

There has been concern that Linda might lose her life over the festive period after pictures were released showing the filming of a funeral ? with Maddy Hill and Danny Hatchard seemingly returning to their roles of Linda?s children Nancy and Lee.

Actor Kellie Bright has said that viewers will see the "worst version of Linda" on screen next week, as the character continues to struggle with her addiction.

"She is so awful and says such horrible things to people that she?s getting more and more isolated," she said. "She is mentally detaching herself from the people that care about her."

EastEnders? Denise Fox is set to face a major threat, amid fears concerning Nish Panesar?s whereabouts.

In this week?s scenes, Nish found out that Suki and Eve?s wedding was still going ahead, after pleading guilty to Keanu?s murder.

He launched a sinister new scheme, where he paid a prison doctor to pretend that his death was imminent, convincing his family that he was on his deathbed.

In Wednesday?s episode (December 4), Ravi was devastated when Nish used what he thought were their final moments together to ask him to stop Suki from getting married, and he refused to help with his plan.

Without his family?s support, Nish decided to take matters into his own hands and planned a dramatic escape from prison.

As he was being taken to the hospice, the ambulance was stopped by two armed men, who held the paramedics hostage and allowed Nish to walk out of the vehicle as a free man.

News of Nish?s escape will quickly reach Walford, and it isn?t just Suki, Eve and the Panesars who are scared ? the other members of The Six will feel they are under threat once again.

In scenes that will air later this month, with Christmas fast approaching, Avani manages to convince Denise to let her have a casual job in the salon.

But Denise then gets some frightening news, as Jack informs her that there has been a suspected sighting of fugitive Nish by an anonymous caller.

Later, Avani and Denise are in the salon when two masked men break in, telling the pair that they were sent by Nish and leaving them both terrified.

Following their traumatic ordeal, Ravi is quick to console his daughter. He then heads over to confront Denise about what happened, but he is shocked to find her having a panic attack.

Ravi manages to calm her down, but then asks Denise just why she is so scared of Nish returning to Walford. As he is unaware of the events of last Christmas, Ravi is naturally unaware of Denise?s connection to Nish.

Will Denise admit the truth about Keanu?s murder, and will Ravi find out that his dad wasn?t responsible?

These scenes will air on Wednesday, December 18, and Thursday, December 19, on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

Elaine is determined to get her daughter back off the bottle.

But realises she has been enabling Linda's addiction along the way.

Afraid to witness Linda hit total rock bottom, Elaine confronts her and issues an ultimatum.

But on tonight's episode of the BBC soap, Linda doesn't take kindly to her mum's interference.

Despite the ultimatum she's facing, Linda ultimately chooses the bottle.

She storms out of the Vic and a dangerous night of alcohol abuse begins...



Tuesday

Lauren Branning (played by Jacqueline Jossa) is determined to beat her painkiller addiction

Especially now that she is pregnant.

Lauren is struggling with her withdrawal symptoms but refuses when Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) offers to get her some more pills.

Cindy previously agreed to help Lauren with her addiction in exchange for Lauren's silence over the unfortunate exchange between Cindy and Kojo Asare (Dayo Koleosho).

Which landed Kojo in hospital after he discovered the truth about Cindy's affair with his businessman nephew, Junior Knight (Micah Balfour).

But as Lauren's withdrawal symptoms worsen, her oblivious boyfriend, Peter Beale (Thomas Law), insists on rushing her to hospital.

Peter fears there could be something wrong with their unborn baby...

It doesn't take Cindy long to discover that Lauren has still been using while pregnant.

The women have a heated showdown and Cindy gives Lauren an ultimatum:

Either Lauren tells Peter about her painkiller addiction... or Cindy will!

Martin Fowler (James Bye) and his ex-wife, Ruby Allen (Louisa Lytton), get the devastating news that the donor liver for their young son Roman's transplant is not suitable.

But everything is thrown into a spin when the doctors confirm that Martin is a match and could be Roman's best hope to survive!

Martin doesn't hesitate to offer to undergo surgery in order to save his son.

Despite the fact that Ruby originally tried to keep him from having any contact with Roman.

However, Martin's stepdaughter, Lily Slater (Lilliah Turner), is not happy about his BIG news.

Lily is terrified that something will go wrong with the surgery, putting Martin's life in jeopardy...

Denise Fox (played by Diane Parish) fears for her life

Denise is alarmed when her copper ex-husband, Jack Branning (Scott Maslen), alerts her that there has been a suspected sighting of Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry) in the area!

Nish recently escaped from prison and is hiding out in Albert Square, plotting revenge on those that sat back and watched as he was falsely charged with the MURDER of Keanu Taylor and sent to prison earlier this year.

Denise is in Fox & Hair with new employee, Avani Nandra-Hart (Aaliyah James), when two masked men burst into the beauty salon!

Denise panics when the intruders claim that Nish sent them...

Is terrified Denise about to pay the price for the part she played in covering-up Keanu's murder at the Vic last Christmas?

Martin Fowler (James Bye) and his ex-wife, Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner), are all mixed-up after he tried to kiss her in the heat of the moment!

The couple are just good friends these days.

Stacey confides in her mum, Jean (Gillian Wright), about the confusing kiss.

Meanwhile, Martin is facing another life challenge after agreeing to undergo surgery to help save the life of his young son, Roman, who needs a liver donor...

Two masked men burst into the beauty salon to confront Denise and new employee, Avani Nadra-Hart (Aaliyah James).

The men claimed they were hired by Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry)...

Denise has been living in fear of nasty Nish, ever since she hit him over the head with a champagne bottle in the Queen Vic last Christmas Day.

Denise was trying to protect Nish's wife, Suki (Balvinder Sopal), when she was physically attacked by her hated husband.

Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) consoles his daughter, Avani, after her shock at the salon.

But when Ravi goes to confront his ex-lover, Denise, at the salon to find out more, he finds her in the middle of a panic attack...

Ravi wants to know why Denise is so scared about his dad, Nish, having escaped from prison.

As Denise continues to be haunted by the SHOCK events of last Christmas Day, will she reveal her dark secret to Ravi?

Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) is determined to have a happy Christmas despite her financial troubles.

Jean recently discovered she has been scammed, after falling for some investment advice from a fake financial advisor.

The scammers have since taken out loans under Jean's name and it looks like she has lost everything...

Stacey (Lacey Turner) remains concerned about mum, Jean.

But is also still distracted by THAT kiss between her and ex-husband, Martin Fowler (James Bye).

Later, Cindy is horrified to realise that Lauren was using the drugs while pregnant. She threatens to tell Peter the truth unless Lauren comes clean herself.

Meanwhile, the donor liver for Roman's planned transplant is ruled not to be viable, but Martin agrees to step in when he's told that he's a match. Lily worries about the surgery, pointing out the implications for Martin's other children if it goes wrong.

Later, Martin confides in Stacey about the operation and tries to kiss her.

Elsewhere, Kim deals with some challenges while planning the Christmas carol concert.
