Emmerdale's Caleb Miligan is forced to face the music next week after his ruthless plan to extort money from his estranged mother-in-law.
Caleb is wrong-footed when his wife Ruby confronts him over the dark secret he's been keeping.
Last month, Caleb had a secret meeting at the hospital with Ruby's mum Helen, who'd been in touch to reveal that she was dying.
Caleb struggled to show much sympathy for Helen, who'd cut Ruby out of her life 30 years earlier.
Never one to miss an opportunity, Caleb demanded a ?100,000 bribe from Helen in return for bringing Ruby to see her before she died.
This delay meant that Helen passed away before she had a chance to reconcile with Ruby. Caleb felt guilty when Helen's money later arrived in his bank account.
Next week, Ruby is surprised to receive delivery of her late mother's ashes, and she makes a defiant decision over how best to dispose of them.
Ruby then drowns her sorrows in The Woolpack, where Chas Dingle offers some advice. Chas suggests that Ruby should contact the hospital to find out what Helen's last words were, as this could give her closure.
Taking this on board, Ruby contacts the hospital and is shocked to learn that Helen was asking for her and hanging on for a reconciliation before she passed away.
The revelations continue as Ruby finds out that Caleb visited Helen at the hospital before her death ? a key detail that he'd failed to mention to her.
Desperate for answers, Ruby confronts her deceitful husband. How will Caleb respond?
Will Ash, who plays Caleb, previously teased: "Caleb knows that if Ruby finds out he's been to see Helen behind her back, she will be furious. There will be a real question of whether she can trust him ever again. The stakes are massive in that moment!"
Emmerdale airs these scenes on Wednesday, October 16.
Monday
Cain Dingle learns his dad has died
An awful day hits hard at Butler's Farm.
Moira bears the brunt. As she makes breakfast and is chatting away to Matty, who's fussing over his mum who has a brain tumour, the farmer is silenced by another absence seizure and ends up burning her arm on a pan.
The knocks keep coming. A phonecall brings the news that a slot has come up for her to have the operation to remove her tumour.
It's not a moment too soon but it throws the mum for a loop. As she offloads to her eldest Matty, Moira explains she's terrified that something will go terribly wrong in the operating theatre.
Later, a cheerful surprise breaks her gloom as Cain returns home from Scotland where he's been visiting his daughter Debbie and his dad Zak, who's been poorly. Moira fills him in ? but keeps quiet about her surgery news.
While Cain takes a shower after his long drive, Moira answers his phone and reels when her distraught daughter-in-law Debbie tells her that Zak has died.
Can tearful Moira find the right words to soften the blow when it falls to her to tell her husband that his dad has died?
Billy opens up to Mack about his illegal fighting, explaining what drives him to take on the dangerous bouts. Can the skint dad get him to agree not to tell his wife Dawn?
Naive Amelia is chuffed when Tom arranges a proper date in the Woolpack.
Tuesday
It's a day the Dingles hoped would never come. Head of the family, Zak, has died.
As Cain shares the awful news with them all, it's some comfort that he will now be reunited with his beloved late wife Lisa and sons Ben and Butch who died years ago.
Life in the village will never be the same again without Zak.
At Wishing Well, the family homestead, the Dingles cling together, lost in their sadness and grief.
Belle, Sam and Cain are hit hardest. Breaking away from the rest of the family, the distressed siblings head out on to Dingle land and share their memories.
Later, with the tragic news having spread around Emmerdale, the villagers gather as Sam and Cain drive off to Scotland to bring their father home where he belongs.
Wednesday
Ruby Milligan is thrown when she takes receipt of her mum Helen's ashes.
Given that mother and daughter were still estranged when Helen died, loads of questions will forever remain unanswered and it's killing Ruby.
Of course, what she doesn't know is that someone way closer to home could put her out of her misery: her husband Caleb who visited Helen on her deathbed.
After wrangling with his despised mother-in-law, Caleb promised to bring Ruby to her bedside? for a fee of ?100K!
Helen paid up? but passed away before she clapped eyes on her long-lost daughter who's been left desperate for closure.

In a state, after making a snap decision about what to do with her mum's ashes, Ruby heads straight for the Woolie and drowns her sorrows.
Bending Chas' ear, haunted Ruby opens up to her sister-in-law who urges her to call the hospital to see if they can tell her anything about Helen's last days.
Biting the bullet, Ruby contacts the ward and is stunned to find out that her mum had been trying to reach her and wanted to reconcile.
Reeling, to Ruby's utter horror, the hospital worker goes on to recall Caleb's visits to Helen's bedside, unwittingly landing Ruby's husband in huuuuuuge trouble.
Uh oh?
What will Caleb say when Ruby confronts him?
At Home Farm, Kim's thrown when Will gives her flowers to comfort her following her friend Zak's death. Will she accept them?
Later, Will works on mending his relationship with Dawn while her husband Billy secretly plans to fight in another dodgy boxing bout for cash.
As Chas declares the Woolpack a space for mourners to gather and remember her uncle Zak, later, at Wishing Well, the Dingles raise a glass to him.
Thursday
The Dingles gather to face a difficult day as they lay Zak to rest.
In the Woolpack, where Zak spent many an hour supping ale from his special tankard, Cain leads to a toast to his dear departed dad.
Later, there's not a dry eye as they lower Zak into the ground. But as the family mop their tears, there's a shock in store which causes jaws to drop.
Who causes a stir at Zak's graveside? And why? And how's Cain going to react when his dad's burial turns into a fiasco?
Caleb sneaks away to talk to Will about their plan to take down Kim. Money's become a major issue and Caleb has the bank breathing down his neck.
Back at Home Farm, Will's furious when Kim asks Gabby to move back in.
After questioning his ex-wife's motives and getting nowhere, Will's more fired up about teaming up with Caleb than ever before ? and as far as he's concerned, her ruination can't come soon enough?
Friday
Zak's funeral was always going to be difficult for Sam, Belle and Cain but the shock that landed on them at their father's graveside is huge.
As the funeral drama continues, the grieving siblings sneak away to Wishing Well Cottage, to talk about the long-lost relative who's reappeared in their lives with an axe to grind?
Will the three of them come up with a solution to end the unwelcome drama?
Meanwhile, Zak's send-off continues and sees family and friends reminisce, sharing special memories of the Dingle dad.
With the Dingles facing a new future with both their anchors, Zak and Lisa, now gone, who's going to head up the family?
