Max is Shane Ramsay's (Peter O'Brien) son & they have also now announced that "Hot on the heels of his son, Max ? Shane Ramsay will also be dropping by to visit Erinsborough" and "Peter O'Brien will be reprising his iconic role in the coming weeks."

I have also seen it suggested that Max might be a mechanic (the return of Fitzgerald?s Garage?).

Neighbours has revealed that iconic character Shane Ramsay is heading back to Erinsborough ? and he'll have a new family member in tow.

The soap's official Instagram account has shared a snap of new character Max, who's part of Neighbours' "original family" and will be making his screen debut in the coming weeks.

"After 10 years, a Ramsay is back on Ramsay Street!" the caption reads. "We're thrilled to announce that Ben Jackson will soon be joining the cast as Max Ramsay.

"But what's brought a member of the show's original family back to Erinsborough? All will be revealed..."

Neighbours stars Lucinda Armstrong Hall, Matt Wilson and Majella Davis were among those sharing their excitement about the casting news on Instagram.

Shortly after Max's casting was revealed, the soap shared another post revealing that original character Shane is also coming back to Ramsay Street.

"Shane Ramsay returns! Hot on the heels of his son, Max ? Shane Ramsay will also be dropping by to visit Erinsborough," the post reads.

"Peter O'Brien will be reprising his iconic role in the coming weeks."

The post was accompanied by a photo of the two actors standing side by side, smiling ? will their on-screen relationship be as harmonious?

While Max is a new character for the soap, Shane has a long history on Ramsay Street.

He first debuted in the soap's first episode in 1985 and spent two years in Erinsborough, during which he was involved in two car crashes ? the first of which left him with a life-altering back injury and the second of which left him facing manslaughter charges, which were dropped after a witness came forward.

Shane left Erinsborough in 1987 to go travelling around Australia. He made a comeback for Neighbours' finale episode in 2022 (before the soap was revived by Amazon Freevee), during which it was revealed that he has made a fortune through cryptocurrency.

Neighbours releases new episodes from Mondays to Thursdays for free on Amazon Freevee and Prime Video in the UK and US. In Australia, the show airs from Mondays to Thursdays at 4pm on Channel 10, with a 6.30pm repeat screening on 10 Peach

80s Neighbours legend Shane Ramsay (Peter O?Brien) returns to Erinsborough next week ? with some news about his relationship with Izzy Hoyland (Natalie Bassingthwaighte).

It was confirmed last month that the original character would be making a grand return to Ramsay Street after a two year absence alongside his son Max (Ben Jackson), who is a new regular face on the Amazon Prime Video show.

O?Brien, 64, originally appeared on the show from 1985 to 1987.

In a statement released on social media, Neighbours said: ?Shane Ramsay returns! Hot on the heels of his son, Max ? Shane Ramsay will also be dropping by to visit Erinsborough.?

In upcoming scenes, Paul Robinson (Stefan Dennis) catches up with his old pal and wants to know what?s brought him back to Erinsborough.

Although scooting around the exact details, it soon becomes clear that things have gone awry with Izzy ? who he first got with during what was believed to be the show?s swansong in 2022.

At the time, he returned having made a fortune in cryptocurrency and wanted to invest in Lassiter?s Hotel with Paul. Shane also showed an interest in buying back his former family home, No. 24, when it went on the market.

Bumping into Izzy ? the deluded ex-lover of Karl Kennedy (Alan Fletcher) ? it wasn?t long before they jumped into bed despite her relationship with Mal Kennedy (Benjamin McNair).

Wanting to settle down in the area, he proposed to purchase the hotelier business outright, though later agreed to tear up the contract upon Paul?s decision to stay in Melbourne.

He also sold the house to Mike Young (Guy Pearce), and started a new life with Izzy. Recently we heard her daughter Holly (Lucinda Armstrong-Hall) talk about how they were still together, and she was revelling in his millions.

She understandably has a lot of questions about why her mum has broken up with him next week, but she?s left frustrated when he remains cagey. He won?t even explain the reasoning for Max joining him.

It seems that both Ramsay men have secrets!

News soon reaches the share house that Vera Punt (Sally Anne Upton) has allowed Max to sign on the dotted line to live with them, and he?s even landed himself a job at Lassiters.

The youngster seems to make a good impression on the residents, despite ruffling feathers with Holly and Byron (Xavier Molyneux) after flirting with his girlfriend Sadie (Emerald Chan).

Even Karl sees a good side in him, and tries to set him up with Holly!

Don?t worry, she?s utterly appalled by the idea.

Elsewhere, Shane is a lovesick mess and Karl is running short on advice. Paul suggests a lads? night out, though the plans fall flat when he continues to talk about Izzy.

Krista Sinclair?s (Majella Davis) opinion on Max differs, and she makes it her challenge to convince Paul that he shouldn?t have hired his best mate?s son.

When she gets to know the newbie a bit better, she learns that he only took on the job to please his dad. She interrupts the lads? night to declare his hotel trial over, and he hasn?t been successful.

Later, she urges Shane to consider the best interests of his son.

Why have Shane and Izzy separated, and what has brought them to Erinsborough?

MAX is involved in something dodgy & HOLLY does not need to be involved writers.
