Emmerdale has released a first look at Tom and Belle King's upcoming special episode, which will be told through a series of flashbacks.

Viewers have witnessed Tom's increasingly controlling and abusive behaviour towards his wife Belle. In recent episodes, Tom secretly agreed to a job interview in Wales, convincing Belle that the relocation wouldn't be permanent.

In next week's special episode, Tom further isolates Belle from her family by taking his wife to a remote holiday cottage in Wales.

The couple's trip will begin with a happy arrival at the secluded cottage. But things go sour when Belle overhears her husband arranging to extend their stay.

The full extent of their week away will be shown through various flashbacks. The worrying scenes will reveal Tom's physical and emotional control over Belle and their dog Piper.

So far away from home, Belle will be completely helpless against Tom's actions. Though she will try to keep him happy, manipulative Tom will continue to blame all of their troubles on Belle.

Physically separated from her loved ones, will Belle be able to escape?

Emmerdale has been working with the domestic abuse charity Refuge on this important storyline.

"The behaviour Tom King is exhibiting is typical of a coercive controlling relationship and at times will prove difficult and uncomfortable to watch. The assistance the charity Refuge has given us whilst researching this storyline has been enormously helpful in bringing this incredibly important storyline to our screens," said Emmerdale producer Sophie Roper.

"We really wanted to capture the isolation and control that we know underpins domestic abuse. That is illustrated in a very literal sense in this cottage episode, but we know often survivors are isolated from their families and communities over time in a deliberate act from their perpetrator to remove them from support systems," added Emma Pickering, Head of Technology-Facilitated Abuse and Economic Empowerment at Refuge.

Emmerdale's Cain Dingle learns Belle could be in danger from Tom

So far Cain Dingle has no idea what is going on behind closed doors at his sister Belle's house.

In fact no one in the family has seen through her husband Tom King's good guy image bar Charity who's growing more concerned by the minute.

She's tried to get the likes of Lydia and Chas to hear her out and has even tried to intervene. But Belle shut her down and everyone else decided Charity was being extra.

Charity, who was abused in her past, has noticed the signs and has tried to get Belle to open up.

Tom King has been controlling and abusing his wife Belle who's kept quiet about the dark truth about her marriage.

When Charity hears that Tom's taken Belle up to Wales where he's got a job interview her instincts go into overdrive.

Compelled to do something, Charity takes a different approach and contacts Cain knowing that anything related to his little sister will grab his attention.

Cain's unsettled when his ex reveals that Tom reminds her of Bails, the bent copper who controlled and abused her years ago.

Will the Dingle act on Charity's concerns?

Billy bites the bullet and admits to Dawn that it was him who broke the bubble they've been trying to create at Home Farm to keep poorly Evan safe.

Will Dawn understand his reasons when he reveals how Kim covered for him when he rolled home hammered risking the germ-free zone?

Elsewhere, Tracy's fuming that her sister Vanessa and her vet colleagues have hired Ella rather than her.


Tuesday

Emmerdale's Cain and Charity hunt for Belle

Now Charity Dingle has alerted Cain to the fact that Belle could be in danger at the hands of her own husband Tom, he can't ignore it.

With Cain's little sister ignoring his phone calls and Charity discovering that she's not been attending her mental health appointments, they decide to break into their house to see if they can find any clues.

Their unease turns to alarm when they get inside Dale Head and clock Tom's surveillance equipment.

As Charity rummages through drawers she finds Belle's phone ? and an address in Wales?

Leaping into the car, Cain and Charity speed over to Wales.

In Wales Cain Dingle rushes inside Belle and Tom's holiday cottage?

Things don't look good when they draw up at the address. The cottage is empty, it's been trashed and there's blood on the walls?

Has Tom murdered his wife?

Elsewhere Ella bears the brunt of Tracy's frustrations.


Wednesday

In Wales Belle King is at the mercy of her abusive husband Tom

A flashback episode, dedicated to Belle and Tom's trip to Wales, will reveal all.

With Tom having got Belle out of the village and up to a remote cottage in Wales things get off to an OK start.

But Tom's behaviour soon changes and sees Belle try to do everything she can to manage his moods and whims to keep him from losing it.

With Belle's phone back Emmerdale, Tom has got his wife just where he wants her: uncontactable, totally isolated from her family and unable to do anything about it.

Belle starts to worry when she hears her husband on the phone extending their stay, unaware that he's got a job there and is intending for them to stay there for the foreseeable.

As the trip starts to go south, the true horror of Tom's control plays out and sees terrified Belle and her beloved dog Piper at his mercy...



Thursday

Cain Dingle is desperate to locate Belle

In Wales, Cain and Charity are horrified by the state of the cottage Tom has taken Belle to.

The place is empty and trashed and there's blood smeared on the doors.

Now deeply concerned that something is terrible has been going on in the Kings' marriage, will the panicked pair manage to find abused Belle and her beloved dog Piper?

Cain is fearing the worst.

At Mulberry Cottage, Jai and Laurel's break up is causing upset for the kids, Archie, Dotty and Arthur who've been separated as part of the couple's split.

Having moved back into Holdgate Farm, taking Archie with him, Jai is angry at the mess of his own making.

Rather than work through his feelings he decides to make himself feel better by telling Brenda and Rodney what Pollard has been up to?

Outside as the sun rises, Belle and Tom are excited to have arrived. They're seemingly happy and loved-up as they anticipate a good holiday.

Belle is hopeful, but things take a turn.
