Desperate Gemma Winter shoplifts to provide Cerys with new shoes

Gemma Winter?s day goes from bad to worse when she discovers Cerys desperately needs new shoes and she gets a ?70 parking fine in the post. She takes Cerys to the shoe shop to get her feet measured but the shoes are too much for her to buy. While the assistant is distracted, Gemma grabs Carys?s hand and they flee the shop without paying. When Bernie sees the shoes she asks how Gemma afforded them. Will she come clean?

Meanwhile, Chesney is serving up kebabs for Joseph?s delighted schoolmates who are around for dinner but Gemma gets a shock when she sees one of the dads who has come to collect his son?

Kevin confides in Tyrone that Stefan has agreed to pay to take down the deep fake videos. But Stefan then tells him that the deal is off as he?s not willing to pay the ?60k per year to take the videos down.

How will Kevin react?

Dee-Dee and Ed meet up with Anthea and Gus for lunch in the bistro and Dee-Dee?s pleasantly surprised when Anthea apologises for their earlier behaviour. When Amy lets slip that Joel and Dee-Dee are engaged, Anthea and Gus are taken aback.

Tim puts pressure on Steve to agree to a night out to celebrate his fiftieth. But he?s gutted when Sally shows him an invitation to the unveiling of Tommy O?s bronze bust at the County ground and he realises it clashes with Steve?s big do.

When Tim tells Steve he can no longer go on the night out with him, Steve assumes a surprise party is being planned.

Sabrina realises she?s been naive when her mate tells her Joel?s a creep and she should steer well clear.

George finds Glenda and Michael in the caf? and suggests they bury the hatchet and meet for a drink later. Will Glenda agree?

Coronation Street newcomer Kit Green faces a difficult situation next week after his half-sister Gemma Winter-Brown is arrested.

Kit is drawn into his family's dramas when his mum Bernie begs him to help Gemma.

The sad situation unfolds after Gemma's ongoing financial problems push her to breaking point.

Gemma receives a ?70 parking fine in the post and she realises that her young daughter Carys desperately needs new shoes.

When the cash-strapped mum takes Carys to the shoe shop, she's concerned to realise that a new pair will cost ?45.

Gemma waits for the shop assistant to get distracted and seizes her opportunity to flee without paying for the shoes.

As Gemma arrives home, Bernie is suspicious as she spots the new shoes and questions how she afforded them.

Later, Gemma's crime comes back to haunt her as she's arrested. Kit is shocked to spot Gemma being hauled into the police station.

Bernie hopes to use Kit's position in the police force to her advantage, begging him to do whatever he can to secure Gemma's release.

Kit reluctantly complies and visits the shoe shop, where he asks the owner whether there's any chance of letting Gemma off.

Gemma is confused over why Kit is helping her, still unaware that he's her long-lost brother.

A grateful Gemma introduces Kit to Chesney and the kids, but Kit gets distracted when he receives a shocking call from his dad.

Coronation Street's Glenda Shuttleworth fears her new relationship with Michael Bailey could be over already next week.

Glenda realises that she may have pushed Michael away as she continues to bicker with her brother George.

The Shuttleworth siblings have been at odds for weeks after a lost copy of their late father Archie's will was found.

The document confirmed that Archie wanted Glenda to have a share of the funeral business. Glenda has also been advised that she's entitled to half of George's house.

Next week, George gets fed up with all the arguing and approaches Glenda and Michael at the caf?.

He suggests that it's time to bury the hatchet and meet for a drink later.

The gesture gets George nowhere, as Glenda continues to complain about the feud and how she simply wants what's rightfully hers.

Michael has previously backed up Glenda in her battle with George, warning the funeral parlour boss not to treat his sister with disrespect.

However, with the feud now seeming to be never-ending, Michael starts to disapprove of the ongoing animosity and Glenda senses that he's starting to cool towards her.

Fearing that she's in danger of losing everybody if she continues down this path, Glenda calls at the undertakers and changes her stance.

Glenda tells George that if he gives her his house, she will drop the legal case and abandon her claim to the business. Will George agree?

Tony Maudsley, who plays George, recently explained why his character has been reluctant to get Glenda involved in the funeral parlour after years of carefully continuing his father's legacy.

He said: "I think from George?s point of view, it was always odd that Glenda wasn't left much by their father. I think he understood why, because Glenda has always been into high kicking on the high seas and singing songs.

"She's Little Miss Showbiz, she always was, she was never a responsible kid. She couldn't even look after her pets properly. Pets died and she went and got another one or she'd wait for a new fad to kick in and say she wanted a terrapin. Things like that.

"So George knows that she's not a responsible person. He's just got to tread very carefully. And I'm sure George being George, he'll want the best outcome for everyone."

Coronation Street airs these scenes on Monday, June 24 and Friday, June 28.

Kit is shocked to see Gemma being brought into the police station, having been arrested for stealing the shoes. Bernie begs Kit to do what he can to secure Gemma's release.

Kit calls at the shoe shop and explains to Bruce that he's here about the shoplifting incident, asking whether he can get Gemma off.

Gemma is intrigued to know why Kit wanted to help her and introduces him to Chesney and the kids. Whilst there, Kit gets a shocking call from his dad.

Meanwhile, Dee-Dee gets ready for the engagement lunch. Joel furtively takes a call from Sabrina's mate, telling him he has to meet her or he'll regret it. What does she want?

Elsewhere, when Glenda bangs on about the situation with George and how she wants what's rightfully hers, Michael's disapproval is evident and Glenda senses he's cooling towards her. Glenda calls at the undertakers and suggests to George that if he gives her his house, she will drop the case. Will she agree?

Also today, Sally calls at the cab office and tells Tim she's off into town to buy a new outfit for tomorrow. Steve listens, more convinced than ever that Tim's planning a surprise party for him. When Amy reveals that Tracy has cancelled her visit and she's staying in Spain, Steve's secretly gutted that his plans to win her back are up in smoke.

Finally, Abi explains to Kevin that she needs to get away for a few days and she's going to stay with Lynsey and the twins. As Abi heads out, Kevin does his best to remain positive.
