Neighbours announces recast for Byron Stone in new season
Xavier Molyneux will be replacing Joe Klocek in the role.

Neighbours has announced that Byron Stone will be recast ahead of the reboot on Amazon Freevee, with Xavier Molyneux stepping into the role.

The former Big Brother Australia contestant had been spotted on the set of the soap earlier this year, with the star being pictured alongside The OC?s Mischa Barton.

It has now been revealed that Molyneux will play Byron on the Australian soap. The character had previously been played by Joe Klocek in the final weeks of the soap's run on Channel 5, and left a few days before the finale.

The official social media channels for the soap confirmed the news of the recasting earlier today (July 15), with Molyneux pictured alongside Annie Jones, who plays his on-screen mother Jane Harris.

"We're very excited to announce that Xavier Molyneux will be taking on the role of Byron Stone," read the caption on the tweet. "The son of Jane Harris, Byron will be thrust into the heart of the Ramsay Street drama when Neighbours returns this September."

Ahead of the reboot's premiere in September, Olympia Valance recently offered her thoughts on the revival, saying Neighbours is a "great show for all ages" and a vital learning ground for aspiring actors.

"I think it's really great that it's been picked up again," said the actress, who played Paige Smith on the soap. "It's such a great show for all ages. But it's also such a great training ground for young Australian actors that are starting out."

"It was such a great opportunity for me and so many other Aussie actors starting out in the industry. I'm happy that it gets to continue for more people too," she added.

Neighbours returns in the second half of 2023 with new episodes streaming free on Amazon Freevee in the UK and US. Network 10 will retain first-run rights in Australia for the new series.

ormer Neighbours star Joe Klocek responds to Byron Stone recast news
Xavier Molyneux has taken over the role.

    https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/nei...-stone-recast/

Former Neighbours star Joe Klocek has responded to the news that his character Byron Stone has been recast for Amazon Freevee's upcoming revival.

It was announced last week that Xavier Molyneux would be taking over the role from Klocek, who played the character in the final weeks of the soap's Channel 5 run last year, and left a few days before the finale.

When a fan commented on one of Klocek's Instagram posts asking why he wouldn't be returning to Ramsay Street, the actor replied: "Work and life has taken me elsewhere but Byron Stone is in good hands!"

Klocek's Instagram page reveals that he's been busy travelling around Europe in recent months, so it was likely his own decision not to return.

The soap's official Twitter page confirmed the Klocek-approved recasting on July 15 with a photo of Molyneux alongside his on-screen mum, Annie Jones.

"We're very excited to announce that Xavier Molyneux will be taking on the role of Byron Stone," read the caption. "The son of Jane Harris, Byron will be thrust into the heart of the Ramsay Street drama when Neighbours returns this September."

Earlier this year, Molyneux was pictured on the Neighbours set alongside The OC star Mischa Barton, though there was no confirmation on which character he'd be playing at that point.

Barton will be playing the guest role of Reece, an American who's new to Erinsborough and not quite who she appears to be.

"I think the character of Reece is going to be a great role for me to explore and play with," the actress said after her role was announced in April.

Neighbours returns in the second half of 2023 with new episodes streaming free on Amazon Freevee in the UK and US. Network 10 will retain first-run rights in Australia for the new series.

Neighbours star Xavier Molyneux reveals secret over Byron Stone recasting
    "It was a big moment."

    https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/nei...asting-secret/

    Neighbours spoilers follow.

Neighbours newcomer Xavier Molyneux has revealed that he was originally in line to play Byron Stone last year.

Show bosses recently announced that Xavier is taking over the role of Jane Harris's son in the new season, which launches later this month.

Joe Klocek previously played Byron for a few weeks last year, with the character bowing out just before the finale. However, things could have been very different at the time.

Speaking to Digital Spy and other press, Xavier explained: "I cried when I got the part. Just because, obviously, it was huge when I was growing up. I loved the show.

"I was supposed to be travelling all this year and I got a call from my agent, whilst I was in Canada.

"My agent called and said: 'If you get on the next flight, you can get in front of Thea McLeod, who's casting Neighbours for Byron Stone' ? who I tried out for last year, and I came second to Joe Klocek! So it was a big moment."

"It was just one of those moments where you go, 'Maybe somebody's looking after me, after all,'" he added.

The new-look Byron features prominently in the recently released trailer for the new season, which showcases a passionate relationship between him and newcomer Reece, played by The OC star Mischa Barton.

Xavier continued: "It was great to work with Mischa. We both came into this trying to find our feet and find our characters. So a lot of the time we were leaning on each other to get through the days, because we did have a lot of two-handers where it was just us.

"For a green actor like myself, it was quite intimidating at the start, but we got through it and she was more than helpful to me."

"Storyline-wise, Byron is working at the hotel and comes across Reece. She's staying there at the hotel and they have a bit of a spark," he said. "They have their own little romance, which they try to keep to themselves and try to keep it away from the Ramsay Street chaos.

"But unfortunately, it all gets sucked in together and they have to navigate that in some way, somehow, without stepping on toes. Paul Robinson obviously has a part to play, as he always does in everybody's story! They come up against the great Paul Robinson. Do we win? We don't know!"

Neighbours reveals Byron and Mackenzie twist after Reece's exit
Is there a chemistry between them?

    https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/nei...ckenzie-twist/

    Neighbours spoilers follow.

Neighbours fans will see Byron Stone bond with Mackenzie Hargreaves next month following the departure of Reece Sinclair.

New spoiler pictures preview a seemingly-intimate moment between the housemates as Byron struggles without his American girlfriend.

Last week's episodes saw Reece rush home to the US following news that her father Conrad had been admitted to hospital after suffering a stroke.

Although Byron offered to join Reece when she made the trip, she asked him to stay behind in Erinsborough and there was a sense that it could be the last time they'd see each other.

Neighbours' newest pictures show Byron and Mackenzie sharing a cosy moment outside in scenes due to air in December.

Others show them in the same bedroom as they continue to grow closer, but have they spent the night together or is there something else going on?

The upcoming scenes follow Mackenzie's potential love interest Haz Devkar starting a fling with Holly Hoyland in recent episodes.

Although Mackenzie has insisted that she isn't ready for a relationship, she has mixed feelings about missing her chance with Haz.

Meanwhile, last week's departure scenes for Reece marked the end of Mischa Barton's guest stint in the role.

Neighbours posted on Twitter last week: "Is this the end of #Breece? Thanks once again to Mischa Barton for an incredible guest stint, do you think it's the last we'll see of Reece Sinclair?"

The show airs the Byron and Mackenzie scenes on Monday, December 11 and Tuesday, December 12.

Neighbours releases new episodes from Mondays to Thursdays for free on Amazon Freevee in the UK and US. In Australia, the show airs from Mondays to Thursdays at 4pm on Channel 10, with a 6.30pm repeat screening on 10 Peach.
