Coronation Street and Emmerdale will both face schedule changes later this month as the 2022 FIFA World Cup begins.

ITV will be showing several of the live football games, which means that the regular transmission patterns for the soaps will be disrupted.

New schedules have been released today for the week commencing Monday, November 21.

These include the first batch of changes for both Coronation Street and Emmerdale.

On Monday, November 21, neither of the soaps will be shown as ITV will be airing the USA vs Wales game from 6.05pm that evening.

On Tuesday, November 22, Emmerdale will air an extended hour-long episode from 7pm to make up for its absence on Monday.

On Wednesday, November 23, Emmerdale will air another hour-long edition from 7pm. Coronation Street will follow in its usual hour-long 8pm slot.

On Thursday, November 24, Emmerdale will air its third hour-long episode of the week from 7pm. Coronation Street will follow with another hour-long slot at 8pm ? a day that the show doesn't usually air.

On Friday, November 25, there will be no episodes of Emmerdale or Coronation Street as ITV will be airing the England vs USA game from 6.05pm.

The World Cup will run from November 20 to December 18.

This means that further schedule changes for subsequent weeks are also on the way, but these will be announced in due course.

Last year, Coronation Street and Emmerdale both dropped a week's worth of episodes on the ITV Hub every Monday for the duration of the delayed Euro 2020 tournament.

So far, ITV hasn't announced whether it intends to repeat this tactic during the World Cup, but we'll keep you posted once we know more.
