A huge moment is upon Marlon and Rhona who finally get their acts in gear after all the false starts, and propose to each other!

The joyous engagement takes place at The Woolie where Rhona has organised a surprise birthday party for her bloke, with help from her mum Mary.

But another huge, life-changing moment is about to hit them ? and it isn't a good one.

Realising he's forgotten the ring, Marlon rushes back to Smithy to collect it. But as he's rifling about trying to find it, his vision starts to go.

The dad starts feeling very, very wrong and as he falls to the ground, Marlon realises he's having a stroke.

As he tries to stay conscious and remember stroke symptoms using the F.A.S T. acroynm, Marlon is fading fast.

Meanwhile, back at the pub, Rhona wonders where Marlon has got to his daughter, and April offers to run back home to look for him.

At Smithy, April's horrified to find her dad on the floor in a terrible state.

As she tries to help him, Marlon barely recognises his daughter.

When April then fails to return, Rhona sets off to round them up.

To her horror, there's an ambulance outside her house and Marlon is on a stretcher being carted into it?

In hospital, it's action stations. Marlon needs emergency surgery ? the sooner the better for a recovery.

Rhona tries hard to stay strong for her frightened fiance who can no longer speak and bolts from the room to spare him from seeing her break down.

    Will Marlon be OK?

    Tuesday 22nd

Rhona Goskirk hasn't left the hospital since her fiance Marlon Dingle was raced in for emergency surgery.

The vet is still in the fancy dress outfit she wore at Marlon's surprise birthday party which came to a terrifying end when went home to get Rhona's engagement ring and had a stroke.

Life as the blended family knew it has changed forever.

April, Marlon's daughter, is really scared.

With her mum long dead and her dad now incapacitated, April is worried about the future and where she fits into it all.

Can Rhona, and her mum Mary, reassure the teen that they're a family no matter what?

Back in the village, the concerned Dingles band together, trying to think how best to support Marlon and Rhona, certain members of the family are struggling more than others.

Missing her right-hand man, Marlon, Charity visits Sam and Lydia hoping for some wise words. Will she take their advice and make amends with Chas?

At Mulberry, Jai is grateful to have been given a chance to help Laurel.

Back among the bosom of his former family, as he minds the kids while Laurel is out, Jai's reminded of how good it is to be there and is left missing his old life all more than ever.

Is there hope for the split-up pair?

Elsewhere, as serial killer Meena Jutla's trial looms, Liam is counting down the days till the nurse who murdered his daughter is sentenced to life behind bars.

But lawyer Ethan's got bad news for the doc. Stressed-out Manpreet has decided she can't testify.

It's a huge blow for Liam who concludes that without Meena's testimony the case against Meena will collapse meaning he'll never get justice for Leanna.

    Wednesday 23rd

Laurel Thomas serves herself a classic case of mum guilt after a conversation with her son, Arthur.

When he asks to know why she and former live-in boyfriend Jai Sharma have split up, Laurel makes the split decision to lie.

She does it with the best of intentions, mind you. She doesn't want her son to hate Jai and if he knew he'd defrauded Laurel, taking out a whopping loan in her name, then Jai's name would be mud.

Laurel feels terrible about it and hopes that Arthur, who really looks up to Jai, never cottons on to the truth.

In hospital, the wait continues for Rhona who's at Marlon's bedside waiting for him to come round from his surgery following his stroke.

It's a huge moment: will Marlon's stroke have severely impaired his speech and mobility or will the doctors have got to him in good time?

As Charity worries about Marlon, Vanessa tries her best to reassure her he'll be OK, using her own recovery from cancer to back up her words.

    Thursday. 24th

It's time for Chas and Charity to squash it.

But although Charity swallows her pride and ends up getting down on one knee to beg Chas to come home to work and live at the Woolpack, it's Chas who makes the first move.

With their feud still rumbling on, the Dingles are tiring of it.

It's plain to see that Charity and Chas both really want to be together manning the ale pumps at The Woolpack and, what with the state poor Marlon's in at the hospital, life is too short for all this.

It falls to Lydia, of course, to issue some more of her wise words. And when she challenges Chas to be the bigger person, Chas actually listens and then goes to see Charity to talk.

A minor miracle then takes place as the pair forgive each other and Chas returns to her rightful place back behind the bar!

Later, with Marlon still in hospital in a really bad way, Charity and Chas have a heart-to-heart about everything.

In a rare show of humility and emotion, Charity bobs down on one knee and begs Chas to go the whole hog and move back into the pub.

Will Chas bring her husband Paddy and their daughter Eve home to roost?

At Mulberry, Jai reckons there's hope for reconciliation but it's clear Laurel is not on the same page.

Realising just how badly his betrayal has hurt Laurel, mistaken Jai is devastated as his ex barrels him out of the door.

The mess leads to more questions from Arthur who's got the wrong end of the stick entirely and ends up accusing Laurel of cheating on Jai!

With Laurel having lied to Arthur about why she and Jai split, to preserve her son's high opinion of Jai, Arthur finds out the truth from the horse's mouth when Jai puts him straight?

A lunch date goes well for Ethan and Marcus who's getting-to-know-each-other-better sesh sees them later share a passionate kiss!

    Friday 25th

Jai Sharma was once in business with Kim Tate, running a lucrative exciting business at the HOP. His home life, living at Mulberry with Laurel and their kids was a happy one.

But everything fell apart when a big event went wrong leaving the business with a huge fine to pay.

As Jai scrambled about to find the money to cover it, bang went his link to the business ? and then his relationship with Laurel when he secretly took out a loan in her name.

Now Jai's living back at Holdgate, unemployed and single.

When Kim reaches out with a proposition, Jai's got a pep in his step. But he soon learns he's been way too previous. Kim's not looking for another partnership - she's looking for someone to cover a shift waiting tables!

Will Jai swallow his pride and start back at the bottom?

Elsewhere, while Rhona's overwhelmed and hurtling towards rock bottom, things are going from strength to strength for Ethan and Marcus.
