Coronation Street's Lamin Touray has revealed that he'll soon be reprising the role of Ashley Hardcastle on the long-running ITV soap.

The actor, who appeared in five episodes of the show in 2021, took to Twitter yesterday (February 2) to share a photo of himself wearing an ITV Studios coat, and another snap of Roy Cropper's caf? on set.

"Back filming on the cobbles this week @itvcorrie," he tweeted. "New Year same Goal #AshleyHardcastle #Corrie #coronationstreet."

Later that same day, Coronation Street confirmed that Touray's return is set to be a guest appearance.

Late last year, Ashley was introduced as a professional footballer, who went to have a brief fling with Charlotte Jordan's Daisy Midgeley. At the time of his arrival in town, though, the latter was romantically involved with teacher Daniel Osbourne, and the pair were keeping their relationship a secret to avoid Daisy's stepmother Jenny inevitably getting involved in their business.

Their attempt at complete privacy backfired, however, when Jenny, thinking Daisy was single, tried to set her up with Ashley.

Initially, she wasn't interested, but things changed when she and Daniel had a big row that culminated in him calling her "ill-educated".

The twosome only lasted about month, before Ashley berated Daisy for getting blind drunk at a celebrity launch party, and accused her of damaging his brand. They never saw one another again after Daisy staggered out of the event ? but if he's making a comeback, it looks like that's about to change...
