Former soldier Nicholas Cartwright will make his debut on Channel Seven's Home and Away on Monday, seven years after quitting the army.

The 33-year-old is set to play the role of Summer Bay's latest cop, Senior Constable Cash Newman.

'Transitioning from the Australian Defence Force to civilian life can be a very difficult process for a lot of vets and I was no different. I didn't want to go back to a 9-5 job,' he told The Daily Telegraph.

Nicholas enrolled in an acting course at the National Institute of Dramatic Art after leaving the military.

'I was always in creative spaces before I joined the army and I kind of just gravitated back that way,' he explained.

Nicholas admitted getting into character 'makes you feel a certain way and playing a cop on the show is simply the best'.

n a new trailer for the long-running drama, Nicholas' character, police officer Cash Newman, is seen investigating the discovery of a woman's body.

Dean Thompson (Patrick O'Connor) fears it's his half-sister Mackenzie Booth (Emily Weir) after she admitted to him she had hit rock bottom following a devastating break-up with Ari Parata (Rob Kipa-Williams) and suffering an ectopic pregnancy.

A concerned Dean tells Cash 'he has a bad feeling' about the discovery, sensing it could be his sister after she gatecrashed a house party at the Parata residence.

Meanwhile, Justin Morgan (James Stewart) faces troubles of his own after he is found by a new gym employee at the beach with bloodied hands.

In recent weeks, he has suffered from an addiction to painkillers, while his girlfriend Leah Patterson-Baker (Ada Nicodemou) is focused on tracking down con artist Susie McAllister (Bridie Carter), who scammed them out of their life savings.

Justin is later seen having stern words with gym manager Tane Parata (Ethan Browne), before he is arrested by Cash at his home.

Home and Away reveals tragedy from Cash Newman's past
Jasmine hears two different stories from Cash and Felicity.

    https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/hom...h-newman-past/

Home and Away spoilers follow from Tuesday's (August 31) Australian episode, which some UK readers may prefer to avoid.

Note: The following article contains discussion of themes including suicide that some readers may find upsetting.

Home and Away has delved into Cash Newman's backstory.

Cash, played by show newcomer Nicholas Cartwright, has been holding back details about his past ever since he arrived in Summer Bay a few weeks ago.

Recent episodes on air in Australia saw Cash's love interest Jasmine Delaney (Sam Frost) become curious when she noticed him shutting down any conversations about his parents.

In Tuesday's episode on Channel 7, it was left to Cash's sister Felicity (Jacqui Purvis) to help explain why.

Felicity said that their father was murdered years ago and the killer was never found. She added that the tragedy had a big impact on Cash, who'd found the body.

Speaking to Jasmine about Cash's reluctance to talk about this, Felicity claimed: "He should. He needs to come to terms with what happened. Cash is great, he's so great.

"But he's damaged. Just so you know what you're getting into."

Later, Jasmine spoke to Cash about Felicity's revelation and was surprised when he offered up a completely different version of events.

Cash explained that their father actually took his own life and Felicity keeps telling the "murder" story because she can't come to terms with this.

He told Jasmine: "I was 12. I'd just won an award at school and I raced home to tell him.

"He didn't leave a note or anything, no goodbye, so Flick just decided that it wasn't true. She was so young. I didn't fight it but she's still in denial. She could really turn a corner if she just accepted the truth."

That evening, Cash spoke to Felicity about her conversation with Jasmine and was frustrated when she stuck to her belief in the murder theory.

Annoyed by Cash's latest attempts to convince her otherwise, Felicity stormed off ? intensifying the problems that already exist between the siblings.

Home and Away fans in the UK will see these scenes on Channel 5 in October.

Home and Away star Nicholas Cartwright hints at secrets from Cash's past
Cash might not be all that he seems.

    https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/hom...ewman-secrets/

    Home and Away spoilers follow.

Home and Away police officer Cash Newman may seem like a model citizen, but actor Nicholas Cartwright has hinted that there is more to the calm cop than initially meets the eye.

Since his arrival in Summer Bay, Cash has settled into the community well and has struck up a romance with Jasmine Delaney (Sam Frost), but Nicholas has teased to Inside Soap that there are "skeletons" in his character's closet just waiting to be uncovered.

"He's definitely not the level-headed guy that he appears to be..." Nicholas revealed, although he didn't drop any details of exactly what Cash might be hiding.

The actor did, however, share his thoughts on Cash's relationship with Jasmine, saying that he feels the couple are "made for each other".

"It's just a really nice love story, which is quite rare in soap," he said. "They're going from strength to strength, and I'm really excited to see where the writers go with it next. I have a beautiful working relationship with Sammy, so we're both looking forward to their relationship continuing."

The other important person in Cash's life is his sister, Felicity Newman (Jacqui Purvis). Despite the fact that feisty Felicity has caused Cash no end of trouble, the siblings clearly have a very special bond ? something which Nicholas says is a reflection of real life.

"That's been so much fun to film! Me and Jacqui Purvis just have this fantastic rapport already as actors," he said. "I have a little sister in real life, and we have a very banterous relationship, so that's what it's like. Felicity is the only person in the Bay that Cash can be himself around."

Nicholas also teased further details about the upcoming UK 2021 finale episode, which sees Tane Parata (Ethan Browne) poisoned by his mystery stalker and the attendees at Martha Stewart (Belinda Giblin)'s mental health fundraiser also being put in danger by a poison gas attack.

"What happens during the cliffhanger this week spirals into a much larger event," he teased, adding: "There are huge ramifications for Cash!"

Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.15pm on Channel 5 and 6pm on 5STAR (UK), with first look screenings at 6.30pm on 5STAR. Selected classic episodes are available via Amazon Prime Video in the UK.

I think his sister Zara's character's name is Millie.

Home and Away star Nicholas Cartwright announces his sister will be joining the Summer Bay cast
''I've never had more fun on set.''

    https://www.nowtolove.com.au/celebri...t-sister-73139

Home and Away's cast and crew often dub themselves one big, happy family.

And life on the Summer Bay set is about to become an even bigger family affair!

Nicholas Cartwright, who plays police officer Cash Newman, announced on Tuesday night that his sister Zara will be joining the Summer Bay circle.

The 33-year-old shared a series of behind-the-scenes snaps of himself and Zara - and we already can't wait to see them on screen together!

"Not sure if y'all have seen the promo, but my beautiful lil sister will be joining us on @homeandaway this week!" he penned.

"I've never had more fun on set. It was literally impossible to not look over at her and laugh with joy between takes. Such a wonderful moment to work with family in such a bizarre world.

"Welcome to the team @nottherealzarazoe ! Tune in to see what we get up to 👮*♂️👩*⚖️"

Nicholas' announcement was met with excitement from Home and Away fans and Nicholas' fellow cast and crew.

Summer Bay's makeup artist Laura Vasquez commented: "Best looking siblings in the biz" while Home and Away's associate producer Brodie Macpherson wrote: "The bloody best ❤️"

While Zara has been in the Aussie acting industry since 2012, Home and Away will undoubtedly skyrocket her career.

She previously starred in the 2015 drama film Skin Deep as well as the Rachel Griffiths-directed Ride Like a Girl alongside Teresa Palmer and Sam Neill.

Nicholas, who graduated from Sydney drama school NIDA in 2019, joined the cast in June 2021 after spending six years in the Australian Army a rifleman.

Later, when he ended up at NIDA, Nicholas was in the same class as another future co-star, Ethan Browne, who plays Tane Parata.

"I was extremely jealous, actually [of his gig]. We were really good mates at NIDA," Nicholas told TV WEEK last year.

"We were a little bit older than a lot of the others there and we'd had some life experiences, so we gravitated towards each other."

Home and Away: Cash plans to propose to Jasmine while Tane goes to desperate lengths to protect his family from Tex
    Where is she?

    https://www.nowtolove.com.au/celebri...ine-tane-74111

The candles are lit, the champagne is on ice and a shining diamond ring glimmers in its box. Now all police officer Cash has to do is wait for his future bride.

In Home And Away this week, Cash (Nicholas Cartwright) is anxiously awaiting his girlfriend's return. Jasmine (Sam Frost) has been spending time at her in-laws' farm, a sanctuary for her whenever she misses her late husband Robbo (Jake Ryan).

But with her arrival in Summer Bay imminent, Cash wants to make it one to remember ? he's going to propose!

Despite their hurdles of late, including the unexpected arrival of Jasmine's half-siblings Rose (Kirsty Marillier) and Xander (Luke Van Os), he's determined to start afresh.

"Cash is head over heels in love with Jasmine," Nicholas tells TV WEEK.

"He lucked out and found a girl he really connects with. But he's always getting in his own way with it and worries that he's going to stuff it up."

Unable to keep the big news to himself, Cash asks Xander to help set up the perfect dinner. It's a thrill for the paramedic, who has struggled to handle the pressures of his job.

While setting up, the two men bond over the mental stresses of their jobs. As a policeman, Cash understands how hard it can be. Then, he asks Xander to be his best man.

That night, Cash suits up in preparation for Jasmine's return. But as time ticks by, he begins to worry. Perhaps he got the day she was returning wrong?

When his calls to Jasmine go unanswered, Cash races to find Irene (Lynne McGranger), who is none the wiser as to her whereabouts.

As morning comes and there's still no Jasmine, Cash fears the worst and reports her missing.

    Where is she?

Home and Away's Cash Newman left devastated in Jasmine Delaney mystery
The show continues to address Jasmine's absence.

    https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/hom...ne-devastated/

Home and Away spoilers follow from Tuesday's Australian episode (July 26), which some UK viewers may prefer to avoid.

Home and Away has kept fans guessing over Jasmine Delaney's whereabouts in the show's latest Australian episode.

Jasmine left Summer Bay a few weeks ago to help the family of her late husband Robbo, with no plans for the character to return following Sam Frost's decision to leave the role.

This week's episodes on Channel 7 in Australia have seen Jasmine's partner Cash Newman optimistically prepare for her to come home.

Cash had asked Jasmine to return to Summer Bay earlier than planned ? and he hoped to make the occasion extra special by proposing to her.

Unfortunately for Cash, there was heartbreak ahead when Jasmine failed to show up, with no explanation over why.

Cash had prepared a romantic dinner, complete with champagne, for a perfect proposal ? but he was forced to abandon it when Jasmine was nowhere to be seen.

Cash tried to phone Jasmine and the Shaw family, but none of them were answering his calls.

The local policeman initially assumed that his sister Felicity must have spoken to Jasmine and told her about his recent mistake with Rose Delaney.

Earlier this year, Cash got drunk and spent the night with Rose in her car. Nothing happened between them, but Cash feared the situation could be misconstrued and he held off from telling Jasmine about his night with her sister.

Felicity denied speaking to Jasmine, but this only made Cash feel worse as he started to fear that something was seriously wrong.

Tuesday's Australian episode ended with Cash deciding to report Jasmine as a missing person.

However, the end-of-episode preview teased a new twist to the tale, as Cash was shown taking his frustrations out on a gym punchbag, before abruptly telling Irene Roberts that Jasmine and the Shaws are all fine.

But if Jasmine isn't in danger, why isn't she coming back?

Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.15pm on Channel 5 and 6pm on 5STAR. First-look screenings air at 6.30pm on 5STAR and the show also streams on My5.

In Australia, the show airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7pm on Channel 7 and streams on 7plus.

Home and Away airs shock shooting in latest Australian episode
The mid-season return episode features high drama.

    https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/hom...ing-australia/

Home and Away spoilers follow from Monday's Australian episode (August 8), which some UK viewers may prefer to avoid.

Home and Away policeman Cash Newman has been left fighting for his life in the show's latest Australian episode.

Cash found himself caught in the crossfire as the Parata family's troubles with a dangerous biker gang came to a head in dramatic scenes.

Recent episodes on air in Australia have seen Tane and Nikau face danger after being tracked down by the biker gang, who held a grudge over some money that Ari once stole.

Demanding repayment, newcomer Tex Wheeler and the other gang members started trying to launder money through Tane's gym business.

Monday's episode saw Home and Away return to Australian screens following a mid-season break for the Commonwealth Games.

The tense comeback episode saw Tane confront the gang at their hideout, wearing a wire as he secretly cooperated with the police.

Tane pushed the gang for exact details on the money laundering plan, hoping that they'd incriminate themselves.

Local cop Rose Delaney listened in from a nearby police van and was soon joined by Cash.

ane's efforts were interrupted when Nikau followed him to the gang's hideout and began causing problems, angering the gang members.

When Tane's dangerous plan started to backfire, the police swooped in to deal with the escalating situation.

In the ensuing chaos, gunshots were fired and gang leader Marty was killed, while Cash was left bleeding out on the ground after taking a bullet too.

Tuesday's episode will see Cash get rushed to hospital for emergency treatment, but will he survive?

Home and Away fans in the UK will see these scenes on Channel 5 in September.

Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.45pm on Channel 5 and 6pm on 5STAR. First-look screenings air at 6.30pm on 5STAR and the show also streams on My5.

In Australia, the show airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7pm on Channel 7 and streams on 7plus.
