NINE-year-old actor Jude Riordan has just landed a role in Coronation Street.

Jude Riordan, from Lea Green, first hit our TV screens in 2017 after starring in The Secret Life of Five Year Olds on Channel 4.

Since then the St John Vianney pupil has gone on to appear in CBBC programmes and several adverts.

And in 2018 landed the coveted role as Tyler in Sky One?s Brassic alongside former Corrie star Michelle Keegan and Vince Gilligan.

Now he is excited to be taking on the role of Sam Blakeman, the long lost son of Nick Tilsley in ITV?s long running soap Coronation Street.

The story plot is that Natasha, his mum, who was one of Audrey Roberts' hairdressers, was in a relationship with Nick 10 years ago before leaving the street pregnant with Sam, and Nick did not know.

Now she?s back as Sam - played by Jude - is asking about his dad.

Jude?s family say they are ?incredibly proud? of him landing the role.

Mum Kellie, said: ?Jude was invited to attend a casting back in February.

?He was then invited back for a screen test with Ben Price [who plays Nick].

?Then obviously lockdown happened so things went very quiet.

?We then heard back in June/July that he?d been offered the role.

?Jude was over the moon. He loves to act and feels very comfortable on set and in that environment.

?Sam loves all things space so Jude is loving learning about the Nebula Cluster.

?So to be able to do his passion as a regular role on one of Britain?s best soaps is incredible.

?We are incredibly proud of his achievements, he?s only 9 and seems to have found his love.

?Cast and crew are lovely and very welcoming, he?s fitted in very well.

?We think he will love his time on the cobbles.?

Jude will be on our screens from October 2 in the ITV hit soap.

Coronation Street fans got to meet Jude Riordan's real-life brother in a recent scene.

Last night (April 6), Jude's character Sam Blakeman faced a new chess opponent, played by none other than the actor's older brother Zach.

Zach's character Oscar joined Corrie for a one-off episode, as Jude announced on his social media.

"When it was bring your Brother to work day [...] Sam smashed Oscar out of the bistro. BEST DAY so far," Jude wrote on Twitter after the episode aired.

In the scene in question, Sam and Oscar play each other in a game of chess, with Sam having the upper hand and beating Oscar. A sore loser, the older boy didn't take defeat very well and refused to shake hands with Sam, storming out of the room.

Judging by one of the hashtags used by Jude (#bubblebrothers), it seems that the decision to cast his older brother was due to Covid-19 restrictions, with the two actors being from the same household.

Viewers were delighted to discover Jude and his real-life brother shared the screen, replying to the actor's tweet to find out more.

"Didnt realise that was your real brother @JudeRiordan wow how lovely!!" one fan commented, adding: "fab having a scene together playing Chess Rivals!! Will have to watch again on Catchup."

Jude then revealed that he and his brother have played each other before in real life, writing: "He plays a bit irl so we play together at home."

Coronation Street star Jude Riordan has wrapped up a new project alongside Casualty's Michael Stevenson.

Riordan famously plays Nick Tilsley's son Sam Blakeman in Corrie, while Stevenson plays Iain Dean in Casualty, and they've joined together for short film Something Missing, about the pressure that young carers face.

Riordan is portraying Sean, an 11-year-old boy who looks after his mum Suzanne, who has early onset dementia (played by former Emmerdale star Emma Davies). Stevenson doesn't star in it but created and wrote the story, while Riordan's dad Paul ? a soap veteran ? directed.

Posting a photo of the four of them to his Instagram account, the young actor wrote: "And that's a WRAP on my first short film Something Missing. I can't wait to see this finished film!

"4 long days to get it all in. Had the best time with the best team! First project w my Dad @paulrio27 and first project w @michaeltstevenson... Would I do another? YES.

"This is a story very close to our hearts, a young carer Sean looking after his Mum Suzanne with early onset Dementia, a story that is life for many young carers and needs to be told.

"Proud to be ambassador for St Helens Young Carers @sth.yc and hopefully we will raise awareness of how important their roles are and how important it is to get the care and support. I can't wait for you all to see it."

Last year, Jude Riordan became the youngest ever winner of a National Television Award, while his older brother Zach recently made an appearance in Coronation Street in one of Sam's storylines.

    Well done Jude

Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) discovers one of the many challenges that come with attending high school for the first time as he?s targeted by a classmate and honestly, we?re not happy.

Settling into his life at Weatherfield High, Sam does a class presentation about chess next week ? something he absolutely loves.

When one boy, Owen, tells Sam how much he enjoyed it, Sam thinks he?s made a new pal and offers to teach him later.

Back home, oblivious to Owen?s sarcasm, Sam sets up at the caf? and waits patiently for his new friend?s arrival.
