Aaron wants to take in Emmett's older brother Brent, but David is resistant, not feeling like they're up to such a big challenge. He also points out Brent has shown he's a bad influence on Em. David vents about it to Kyle ? how can Aaron possibly think they should take in someone like Brent when they can barely handle parenting Em? Unbeknown to him, Em overhears this.

Emmett starts to act incredibly well behaved and Aaron and David are at first surprised but delighted by the turnaround, but then they start to fear this might stem from Em's anxiety about being moved on from their home. Em is cleaning the house and being angelic, but they try to get him to ease up ? assuring him they never expect him to be perfect and will support him no matter what.

Em insists he can be perfect and they don't have to worry about him. The boys try to get through to him, but Em continues to insist ? they don't have to worry about him and they can take in Brent as well. The boys are shocked that he knows what they've been considering.

Em puts in a heartfelt plea for his brother and David's heart starts to soften. He agrees to look into the idea of keeping the brothers together.

Meanwhile, the cold war simmers between Sheila and Roxy, leaving Kyle dismayed. Levi decides to come to his rescue and enlists Clive's help to plan a family BBQ, trying to get Sheila to see Roxy as part of the family now. Things get off to a rocky start, but then a funny anecdote about Kyle's childhood softens the mood. Unfortunately for Sheila, this then leads to talk of Levi's childhood.

Levi reveals to Roxy he was once attacked during a house invasion by unknown burglars and had nightmares for years afterwards, always fearing the men might come back to get him. Sheila is deeply shaken by the story ? she had no idea Levi was affected for so long and Clive privately prompts Sheila that this might be the time to tell them the whole story.

Sheila resists until Levi makes a lovely toast to her being the heart of the family and her guilt overwhelms her. She breaks down and admits that she doesn't deserve him to say lovely things ? she knew who the men were who attacked him and they were there for Kyle.

Levi reels from Sheila's revelation. Kyle is equally shocked and Roxy can't believe what she has stumbled into as Sheila explains the secret she has kept for years. She recognised the guys who beat up Levi as rough mates of Kyle's, but she didn't tell the police because she knew Kyle was involved in some other crimes with them and didn't want him to get into trouble. Instead, she sent Kyle away to Erinsborough.

Levi is appalled that she denied him justice and left him to live in fear of unknown assailants all his childhood, just to protect Kyle who was a little crim. Sheila explains that she never realised that Levi would suffer for so long, but Levi doesn't want to hear it and storms out. Levi turns to Bea to express his shock and outrage.

Clive comforts Sheila, who fears she may lose Levi for good. Kyle blames himself and worries when he sees Sheila break down completely. Kyle grows worried for his gran's weak heart and goes after Levi to try to urge him to be more careful with her, but an angry Levi turns on Kyle: it is his fault all this happened and he wants Kyle out of his face.
