Neighbours is bringing back Jane Harris — for good, this time!

Fresh off her guest stint for the Aussie soap's 35th anniversary earlier this year, classic cast member Annie Jones has confirmed she will be rejoining the cast of Neighbours on a full-time basis.

This time, the Superbrain will be bringing along her daughter Nicolette Stone, to be played by The Verge rising star Charlotte Chimes.

Jane will return to Erinsborough under tense circumstances as she reunites with Nicolette following an estrangement over her daughter coming out as a lesbian when she was a teenager.

The Superbrain is also newly-single, as her relationship with classic character Des Clarke (Paul Keane) hit the rocks following his own recent appearance this past spring.

"I’m so thrilled to be back playing Jane Harris! I’m grateful to again be working with the dedicated cast, crew and team at Neighbours," Annie Jones has said.

"Jane is returning to her old neighbourhood and bringing with her an insight into what her life away from Ramsay Street has been like for the past 30 years. Audiences will learn more about her family life, as fans are introduced to her daughter Nicolette for the first time.”

During her recent guest appearances for the anniversary episodes, Jones revealed that she'd hoped former co-stars Jason Donovan and Guy Pearce would be back on Ramsay Street too.

"Stefan Dennis and I caught up with Jason Donovan and Guy Pearce when we were all in the UK a while ago," she said. "We tried to persuade them to do it, but they are both so darn busy!

"Jason has been in Melbourne doing Chicago on stage. I'm pretty sure Guy is in Amsterdam or somewhere exotic making a movie.

"So the stars didn't line up in this instance, but you never know. I'm sure they'd love to if they could make it work and they happened to be in Australia at the right time. I'll keep trying!"

Neighbours airs weekdays at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5 (UK) and 6.30pm on 10 Peach (Australia), with Jane and Nicolette appearing at the end of July.

Out of the “5” weddings, only 1 stuck. I really wish the anniversary episodes were more thought out. I think they focused too much on the “35” than the actual story.

I am so over this Nicolette storyline, to the point where I stopped watching halfway through the episode where Chloe and Aaron hounded Dipi into giving Nicolette a job. I was hoping this whole baby storyline would turn out to be fake, but I'm just so sick of Neighbours giving these awful, manipulative, gaslighting characters a happy ending. It happened with Imogen and Daniel, even after she lied to and manipulated her "best friend" Amber, who then had a baby with her lying, manipulative ex (although there was no happy ever after for Josh) and more recently, Elly.

I've deleted future episodes from my queue so I'll just have to read the spoilers to see if I want to start watching again. I've been watching from Day 1 but there's only so much of this rubbish I can take.

They are definitely spinning a wheel to decide what she does next.
