Yes, Kahu has departed. Tane 'escorted' him back to NZ, so he could tell his mother what has really been going on. And Tane hasn't mentioned him again since coming back to SB.

Home and Away to air surprise baby storyline for Tane Parata
    Tane makes a shocking discovery.

    https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/hom...surprise-baby/

Home and Away spoilers follow for Australian and UK viewers.

Home and Away will have a surprise baby storyline for Tane Parata in scenes airing in Australia this week.

While walking along the dunes at the beach, he finds an abandoned baby lying in a gym bag, according to TV Week, and rushes her to the hospital to be checked over.

"Tane is shocked by what he's discovered," actor Ethan Browne, who plays Tane, said. "But his protective instincts kick in and he endeavours to look after the baby until the parents are located."

Doctor Bree Cameron confirms that the baby girl is healthy and contacts child services to start the process of tracing her parents, telling Tane that he can now head home. But Tane is reluctant to leave the child.

When Mackenzie Booth and Mali Hudson get wind of what's going on, they head over to the hospital to try to get Tane home, and quickly notice just how attached he is to the mystery baby.

Tane brushes off their concerns, convinced that he needs to be there for the child he rescued. But is he in danger of getting too involved?

This development follows Tane's split from wife Felicity Newman after their disagreement over the possibility of having a child.

With the pair on different pages on the subject of parenthood, Felicity eventually agreed to start trying for a baby but she secretly continued to take her birth control pills, leading to a showdown when Tane discovered the truth.

These scenes will air this week in Australia and on Channel 5 in the UK in mid-April.

Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.45pm on Channel 5, with repeat screenings at 6pm on 5STAR and first look screenings at 6.30pm on 5STAR. Selected classic episodes are available via Prime Video in the UK.

In Australia, the show airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7pm on Channel 7 and streams on 7Plus.

Home and Away reveals future of Tane Parata's surprise baby storyline
Will this bring him back together with Felicity Newman?

    https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/hom...ne-baby-story/

    Home and Away spoilers follow.

Home and Away has teased the future of Tane Parata's surprise baby storyline with a new promo.

Viewers watching at Australian pace have already seen a harrowing turn of events play out as Tane found an abandoned girl on the beach.

Tane has been very protective of the child, staying by her side at the hospital and raising questions over whether he may be getting overly attached to her.

The ordeal has been particularly tumultuous for Tane since his marriage to Felicity Newman broke down because she didn't want to have children.

A new promo released on Instagram offers some hints on where this poignant storyline will go next for both Tane and Felicity.

Rose Delaney will get involved to lead a police search for the child's mother, all the while Tane is growing more attached and even gives her a name.

"She should have a name," Tane says in the clip, before deciding: "Maya, Maori for courage."

As Tane cradles Maya, the clip reveals Felicity looking awestruck as she witnesses how loving her estranged husband is acting towards the helpless baby.

A voiceover teases the implications: "Is this the one thing that could bring them back together?"

These scenes will be airing in Australia next week and then in the UK in April.

It has been a rough few months for the former couple, as Tane found out earlier this year that Felicity was still taking contraceptive pills even after telling him she was ready to start a family.

    "I Won't Leave Her.
Tane's devotion to an abandoned baby sparks concern

Since finding a baby in a bag on the beach, Tane hasn't left her side. But this week he takes his commitment one step further by applying to be an emergency foster carer. Is he truly ready or is he simply filling a void?

In Home and Away, Tane (Ethen Browne) watches over the baby girl, never sleeping or eating, unless a doctor is in the room. Concerned by his behaviour, Mali (Kyle Shilling), and Mackenzie (Emily Weir) gently question his intentions - and top their surprise, Tane admits he wants to be her caregiver if the parents don't come forward. He also nicknames her Maia - the Maori word for courage.

Mac is concerned he's replacing his broken marriage to Felicity (Jacquie Purvis) with someone else to look after. But Tane won't budge.

"Tane is doing his best to move forward and focus on life after the split," Ethan tells TV Week. "He's trying to figure out what to do with himself, but he's doing very well and the future is looking hopeful."

Despite objections from his housemates and a stern talking to by Dr Bree (Juliet Godwin), Tane is undeterred and proceeds with the plan. He'll do anything to protect Maia. There's just one problem: to foster a child, he needs to be an Australia citizen or permanent resident.

"He wants the best for this baby and to make sure she's placed in a proper home and care, " Ethan explains. "He can't help but feel responsible for her, as he found her."

When Felicity hears Roo (Georgie Parker) and Alf (Ray Meagher) discussing the situation at Salt, she feels compelled to help. That afternoon she looks into how to apply to be a caregiver. But is Flick doing it for the right reasons or is she hoping it will bring Tane home."

Home and Away's Tane Parata to make a big mistake in baby storyline
Has he ruined things for himself?

    https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/hom...story-mistake/

Home and Away spoilers follow for Australian-pace episodes, which will air in a few weeks times in the UK.

Home and Away's Tane Parata will suffer a big setback in the baby plotline this week.

Tane found a baby in a bag on the beach recently, and after refusing to leave her side in the hospital, announced his decision to try and become the primary caregiver for child, who he has nicknamed Maia.

In scenes set to air this week (via TV Week), Harper turns up at the hospital and hands Tane the day's newspaper and apologises. As he opens it, he learns an article has been written about him, calling him "obsessed" with the child.

It turns out that Harper's sister Dana was tricked by a journalist into answering questions and had her words put into this scathing article.

With his character under attack, on top of all of the pressure of the baby's health, Tane is understandably on edge. But when the same journalist turns up the hospital and looks to expand the story, Tane's temper takes over and he lashes out.

He manages to get the journalist to leave, but not without receiving a formal complaint first.

Will that lead to even more negative stories about him, and will it get in the way of him becoming Maia's caregiver?

Tane's friends have previously shared concern about him, worrying that he is pouring all his time into this baby in order to get over the end of his marriage.

Tane actor Ethan Browne said: "He's trying to figure out what to do with himself, but he's doing very well and the future is looking hopeful.

"He wants the best for this baby and to make sure she's placed in a proper home and care. He can't help but feel responsible for her, as he found her."

In Australia, the show airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7pm on Channel 7 and streams on 7Plus.

    "Baby Grab!
Where has Tane gone with little Maia?

When it's finally decided baby Maia will be handed over to foster care, Tane is crushed. Desperate to be a dad and after being failed by the government-care system himself, he's worried about what her young life will be like without him.

Then when nurse Dana (Ally Harris) sneaks him into the hospital for a final goodbye despite the AVO policewoman Rose (Kirsty Marillier) has in place, Tane (Ethan Browne) makes a desperate decision.

Snatching Maia - the infant he found abandoned in a sports bag in the dunes in Summer Bay - and going on the run, he's determined to keep the little girl safe.

"Tane feels failed by the system," Ethen tells TV WEEK. "He believes he's doing what's right for Maia, which is all that matters to him."

What Tane doesn't know is that a woman has come forward claiming to be Maia's mother. Rose is suspicious about the timing of someone appearing out of nowhere after she has spent weeks searching for clues as to where Maia had come from, but without the baby there, she can't prove a thing.

If Tane can be found, DNA tests could confirm her story, but where is he? In a race against time, Rose tries to stall Maia's mother while the whole Bay searches for the missing pair.

Where have they vanished to? "
