Home and Away confirms new love interest for Tane Parata
    What terrible timing!

    Home and Away spoilers follow.

Home and Away's Tane Parata officially has a new love interest on the horizon.

In a teaser clip uploaded to the soap's Instagram, the man currently charged with the kidnapping of baby Maia finally gets that kiss with Harper Matheson.

Five months ago, she left him a little red-faced by pulling away from his moves after Tane misread their friendship while on the rebound from ex Felicity Newman.

In the new Home and Away footage, Tane faces the prospect of being locked up for 15 years, with Harper inconveniently realising she could be into him after all.

"I think I really like him..." she tells her younger sister Dana.

And with the clock ticking on gym boss Tane's freedom, she goes on to let him know face-to-face.

"You have to know by now how much I care about you," Harper dramatically reveals.

A voiceover then informs soap fans that "feelings will surface" as Tane once again makes a move on Harper. She doesn't pie him off this time, though.

These episodes won't air in the UK on Channel 5 until July.

In other Home and Away news, longtime cast member Lynne McGranger has admitted she's "mulled over" the possibility of bowing out as Irene Roberts after 31 years.

"It has been in the back of my mind for the last year or two," she recently told Stellar magazine.

Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.45pm on Channel 5, with repeat screenings at 6pm on 5STAR and first look screenings at 6.30pm on 5STAR. Selected classic episodes are available via Prime Video in the UK.

In Australia, the show airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7pm on Channel 7 and streams on 7Plus.

I completely agree. And we know he'll get off with nothing more than a slap on the wrist. The entire bay has been condoning his behaviour because "he had the baby's best interests at heart". But he did wrong and should be punished for it. And to top it all, from pictures of filming recently Harper is pregnant with his baby. So Tane wanted a baby and now Tane is going to get a baby. I know a lot of people don't like Felicity but I honestly think she's far better off without him now.

Sorry, that probably turned into a bit of a rant! But Tane and Mac/Levi are the most unlikeable characters right now in my opinion.

DS article. Harper to fall pregnant after they spend the night together at the gym...?

Home and Away confirms Tane Parata's fate in court storyline
    His sentencing takes place.

    https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/hom...rata-sentence/

Home and Away spoilers follow from Australian pace episodes, which some UK viewers may prefer to avoid.

Home and Away has confirmed that Tane Parata won't be heading to jail after his baby kidnap plot.

The Summer Bay gym boss finally heard his fate in Tuesday's Australian episode (June 4) after weeks of uncertainty about his future.

Tane made a terrible mistake this year as he fled from the Bay with Maia, the baby girl he found abandoned on the beach.

He later handed himself in and gave Maia back following encouragement from his friends Mali Hudson and Harper Matheson, which led to him being arrested, charged and ultimately forced to face court.

In the latest episode, Tane's case continued and his lawyer Marshall made a drastic move as things weren't looking good for him.

Marshall unexpectedly called Tane to take the stand, quizzing him on his desperate desire to be a father and how he'd felt betrayed when his estranged wife Felicity Newman lied to him about trying for a baby.

Marshall was aware of this difficult history after chatting to Felicity, who didn't realise that he'd later go rogue and use the information in court.

Addressing the judge, Marshall argued: "Tane Parata is a man driven by a deep-seated need to protect and nurture. There was no malice in his actions. At no point did he intend to harm the child or gain a reward.

"His sole objective was to keep her safe. Yes, he made some poor decisions, coming out of a traumatic time in his life. Who hasn't?

"Mr Parata admitted how badly he wanted to be a father. It even cost him his marriage."

Putting Tane's actions in this context led to the judge taking pity on him.

Although Tane was given a lengthy seven-year sentence, he was told that he could serve it repaying the community rather than in jail. He was also ordered to seek professional help to deal with his issues.

The judge explained: "You will serve that sentence under an intensive corrections order, meaning you can serve that time within the community.

"However, strict conditions are in play. I'm further ordering that you immediately attend a training and counselling programme to equip you with the tools to identity damaging behaviour and avoid repeating it."

The news came just as Tane's friendship with Harper had taken a romantic turn, with them spending the night together at the gym. With Tane now free to move on with his life, will he decide to pursue a relationship with Harper?

Home and Away fans in the UK will see these scenes on Channel 5 in July.

Home and Away fans praise powerful Tane scene in tragic death plot
"I cannot explain in words how this made me feel."

    https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/hom...ul-tane-scene/

Home and Away spoilers follow for Australian-paced episodes, which some UK viewers may prefer to avoid.

Home and Away viewers have praised a powerful scene involving Tane Parata in the Australian soap's tragic death storyline airing this week.

Felicity Newman passed away after falling unconscious at a party, and her loved ones learned that she suffered a brain aneurysm and was essentially brain dead, so they made the tough decision to turn off her life support.

Following her death, Tane processed his grief by performing the haka, the traditional Māori dance associated with various events, including funerals. He let his feelings flow through his body, with every stomp of his feet and pounding of his chest channelling his messy emotions.

And fans were very moved by it, praising both the soap's further inclusion of Māori culture and actor Ethan Browne's performance. The official Home and Away Instagram account shared the scene, and viewers took the chance to comment on how much they loved it.

"I cannot explain in words how this made me feel," one fan said. "Sad, appreciative and just overall emotional. Thankyou for putting your heart and sole [sic] on the big screen to deliver an incredible tradition and an insight into the Māori culture. Truely [sic] heart moving."

"Ohh jesus this is heartbreaking. Well played [Ethan Browne] you really should be proud of this work," commented another, while a third said: "Absolutely love this, give me more of it!"

One person admitted that they hadn't watched the soap, but were hugely impressed upon coming across the video, writing: "WOAH, the emotion was so authentic and real."

"You make us New Zealand's [sic] proud! This was so beautifully done!" said another fan, who also tagged the actor, telling him to "keep up the awesome work".

In her exit post, Felicity actor Jacqui Purvis thanked Browne for "helping create a beautiful love story", and he responded, praising her "thunderous energy".

Meanwhile, it's been confirmed that Felicity's foster father Gary will be making a guest appearance in the upcoming funeral episode.
