CORONATION Street favourites Suranne Jones, Julie Goodyear and Sarah Lancashire will all returns for an hour-long 60th anniversary special.

Amanda Barrie and Michelle Keegan will also feature in the documentary said to be titled Queens Of The Street.

A source told the Mirror: "It’s Corrie’s 60th birthday next year so ITV are planning some special shows to celebrate the landmark,” a source said revealed.

“The show launched the careers of some of the biggest stars on TV – especially the likes of Suranne and Sarah. It’ll be a real celebration of all those women we’ve seen in the Rovers Return.”

Corrie was first broadcast on December 9 1960 and has been a staple on TV screens across the country ever since.

While roles on Corrie are coveted in their own right, the soap has also proved a successful launching pad for its stars to become leading ladies in other dramas.

Suranne, 40, has become one of ITV's biggest stars since leaving her role as Karen McDonald in 2004.

She went on to appear in the critically-acclaimed Unforgiven before creating and starring in police drama Scott & Bailey alongside former Corrie star Sally Lindsay.

The role paved the way for arguably Suranne's best known role as Gemma Foster in Doctor Foster, for which she won the Best Actress Bafta in 2016.

Most recently she starred as lesbian landowner Anne Lister in Gentleman Jack.

Sarah, 54, played one of the street's most popular characters in Raquel Wolstenhulme between 1991 and 1996, with 20 million people tuning in to watch her final scene which saw her flee to Kuala Lumpur.

She returned for a one off episode four years later, explaining to estranged husband that she had been pregnant with his baby when she left and was now in love with another man.

More recently she won a Best Supporting Actress Bafta for her role in Last Tango In Halifax and the Best Actress Vafta for Happy Valley season two.

Corrie Stalwart Julie, 77, first appeared in the soap in 1966 for nine episodes before returning in 1970 for a 25 year run. The Rovers Return landlady was honoured with a lifetime achievement award in 1995 and has gone on to star in numerous reality TV shows including Big Brother.

Suranne Jones is a brilliant actor. When she was in Corrie she outshone everyone else. Her successful career since has been very well deserved. It will be great to see her back for a one-off.

Coronation Street is going to turn 60 years old next year (has it really been that long since the 50th?!), and you know that the ITV soap is going to go all-out to celebrate.

While a lot of plans are under wraps at the moment, last month there were rumours of a documentary called Coronation Street: Queens of the Street, which would feature some of the Cobbles' most famous ladies looking back at their time on the soap.

Former Corrie stars like Sarah Lancashire, Suranne Jones and Julie Goodyear were all said to have signed up, and now it has been revealed that Sally bloody Lindsay will be involved too!

Chatting to OK! Magazine, the Shelley Unwin actress spoke about her hesitation, stating: "I rang some of the girls doing it and asked them, 'What do you think?' and they were like, 'Why not?' It was an amazing time."

Meanwhile, Gary Windass actor Mikey North has teased the anniversary a bit, saying: "I spoke to [Coronation Street producer] Iain [MacLeod] a couple of weeks ago.

"I think he has got plans for the 60th and stuff which sounds really, really exciting, but obviously there's a lot of stuff to happen before then, whether that happens or not I don't know."

Lorna Laidlaw, who plays newcomer Aggie Bailey, has also recently shared that she really, really wants a live episode to celebrate the milestone too.

Coronation Street's Fiz Stape and Tyrone Dobbs are in for anything but a happy New Year in the coming weeks, as an upcoming storyline is set to tear their worlds apart.

According to a report in The Sun, Fiz and Tyrone will be left blind-sided in the New Year when newcomer Jade Rowan reports them to social services.

In a devastating blow to the couple, Jade falsely accuses Fiz and Tyrone of child abuse, resulting in Hope and Ruby being taken into care.

A recent newcomer to the cobbles, Jade is currently helping Fiz's troubled daughter Hope after previously working with her as a teaching assistant in Birmingham.

Viewers are already wary of Jade, suspecting an ulterior motive for her recent move into Number 9. However, Fiz and Tyrone remain oblivious to the fact that she can't be trusted – something actress Jennie McAlpine is all too aware of.

"Fiz really likes Jade. After all, she brought Jade to Weatherfield to help with Hope," she explained. "Fiz wants Hope to be okay, so she is happy that Hope responds to Jade, but she is gutted that Hope listens to Jade and not to her.

"It makes Fiz feel totally useless as a mother. Jade seems to have a great relationship with Hope and she can control Hope in a way that Fiz can't."

Next week's Coronation Street will see Fiz and Tyrone break the news to Jade that her services will no longer be required, as they've managed to enrol Hope back into Bessie Street School. But will Fiz be able to let Jade go following concerns over her daughter's behaviour?

"Fiz does agree that when Hope goes back to school, there is no real need for Jade," Jenny admitted, "but she is worried that without Jade in the house, Hope may go back to how she was."
