I think it takes at least 28 days to get an alcohol licence. After applying you must display your application on the premises and in the local newspaper to give the police, fire service and the public to opportunity to object. So Geoff could not possibly have a licence already. Not sure if it would be illegal to order alcohol during this period but it would be to sell it. Geoff winding up Alya or bad writing?

In addition he would also have to designate a premises supervisor, who has to have a personal licence. Presumably he would designate himself, but I very much doubt he has a personal licence.

The licensing authority, the local council, would also make their own investigations before awarding the licence. Presumably this investigation would include finding out who owned the restaurant and speaking to the co-owner.

Exactly! - If Alya objected I am sure this would raise questions as to whether a licence should be granted, especially with Yasmeen a co-owner still facing a murder charge. Geoff could not possibly have got a licence. If the story continues saying he has, this is very badly researched and written.

Yes, good point about Yasmeen. I'm sure the council would be a bit wary about awarding a licence to sell alcohol to a restaurant whose co-owner is banged up on an attempted murder charge!

No. Not since she was banged up in 2018 for fraud.
