I thought they had called the police themselves and gave statements to what happened, (not shown on tv) Kelly's prints would be on the crowbar and I don't think she would have lied, she had no alternative but to whack him over the head.
I would have preferred Gary to have finished him off as that is the only way to put a full stop to it.

Indeed. I liked it when he told Kelly that she knew he would be able to protect her - just after he'd been knocked out and Kelly had to save him!
