Home and Away's upcoming transmission break on Channel 5 has been cut short by a week.
The soap airs its final episode of the year on Friday, December 19 and was originally due to stay off air for three weeks until Monday, January 12.
A Channel 5 spokesperson today confirmed to Digital Spy that Home and Away now has a new return date of Monday, January 5.
The news means that Home and Away is returning to screens at the same time as Neighbours, which is also back on air from January 5 following its own break.
Channel 5's Home and Away broadcasts are currently nine weeks behind the Australian airings, but UK fans will soon catch up slightly as the show takes longer breaks in December and January in its home country.
