Home and Away star Steve Peacocke has admitted that he expected to be axed by the soap's producers during his early days of filming.
The actor has been part of the long-running drama for over a year, and his bad boy character Brax has become one of the show's most popular faces.
However, Peacocke told Adelaide Now that it took time before he felt confident in the role.
Peacocke explained: "I was so nervous in the first four or five weeks - I was certain I was going to get booted off the show.
"I didn't feel great about what I was doing. It was like running on to the field half way through a game of footy when everyone else has warmed up. As my confidence has grown, I've enjoyed it more."
The 30-year-old also reiterated his desire to pursue US film work at some point in the future.
"That is where I want to end up," he confirmed. "I've heard from different casting agents that there is something about Australian blokes that resonates in America. There's a manliness to what we've got."
Brax is currently featuring in major storylines on Home and Away in the aftermath of his lover Charlie's shooting.
