Does anyone else think she will get maybe get close to Eric when Val leaves?

For some reason he seems to confide more now in Diane and Val did sleep with Rodney when he was married to Diane so perhaps some payback

This is more speculation from me ok not a spoiler or rumour

Would not surprise me, because that is about as creative as the scriptwriters get these days

When Emmerdale killer Cameron Murray creates a hostage situation at The Woolpack next week, landlady Diane Sugden is powerless to prevent a terrifying chain of events which unfold at the pub.

Here, Elizabeth Estensen - who plays Diane - gives her character's take on the scary situation in a quick chat.

Can you tell us how the hostage situation unfolds from Diane's point of view?
"So there we are, 12 of us - which sounds like quite a lot of people but actually it's just a few when you look round. We are all talking in general, and then suddenly Cameron appears from the cellar in the doorway through to the pub. The fear, you froze with fear.

"Dominic's performance is honed - he's developed his character from being a nice man to a psychotic killer. And with him just holding the gun, it was astonishingly frightening to be at the end of a gun barrel."

Do you think the viewers will pick up on that sense of trepidation?
"I do hope so because it was very prevalent in the room and we were all quite frightened. Duncan [Foster] who was directing it painted such a good picture, giving us the right notes before the takes. It really was menacing. I'm sure it will come across that way."

    Cameron arrives in The Woolpack.

Do you think Diane feels quite territorial of The Woolpack as one of the landladies? Would Diane dare stand up to Cameron?
"The fear was so intense that you didn't want anybody to do anything that could possibly provoke him. But in a sense, it ceased to become The Woolpack. It was just an area taken by Cameron wielding a gun. So Diane lost a sense of territory actually, because she was just one of the hostages. When you are territorial about something it's because you are used to things happening there, but she was no longer in control."

Did it feel intense to film, especially being in one set for three days together?
"Yes, we really felt trapped in with him. Turning up on day two, continuing from where we left off, it was as if there wasn't real life, a real night in between. It was actually a shock when we finished filming and we went outside, as it wasn't raining. In all the scenes we had been doing, the rain had been pouring down."

Was it exciting to film, though?
"Yes, very exciting. Everyone was so involved in it and there were some brilliant performances as well."

Diane looks from the window of The Woolpack.

Does Diane do anything heroic during the siege?
"Cameron asks what is happening out on the street and Diane goes over to the window. She tries to let the people outside know what is happening, but he drags her away."

Can you give any hints on the character who is shot in the storyline?
    "Well, it's a big surprise and a well-loved character…"
