    Banner and Signature rules

    Please follow these rules:

    • Do not leech images
    • Do not pass images created by others as your own
    • Get premission from the banner author before using a banner
    • Excessively large banners used as signatures will be deleted
    • As a guideline, banners should not exceed a height of 100 and width of 500pc
    • Do not stack banners in signatures
    • Any signatures that incude a banner and text must be a resonable size. Choose a small font.
    • Do not link in your signature unless you have permission.
Due to people not following the above rules we've decided to limit signatures to those with 500 posts and over.

Its effectively stealing someone elses bandwidth. Imagine an image on the BBC site, with a link in a signature here. Everytime that sig is displayed, its pulling the image off the BBC site and costing them bandwidth. Whilst the BBC can handle it, smaller sites can't as bandwidth costs money.

There's websites that let you host images which should be used.

We had a nasty case of theft in the early hours of this morning that I was less than impressed with so I am going to be extra vigilant from now.

It's a 24hr ban if I find out someone has linked the picture from somebody else without permission. I'll just make sure the offending graphic is removed should it just have been stolen. However persistent offenders could be banned for up to a week. I'm not a fan of theft atall

There is no need for it anyway.. anyone who makes these banner will give permission.. all they want you to do is ask incase they have promised it to another person.. they work hard on these banner and deserve the recognition for it

Exactly. The sad thing is people will link to other peoples pictures. Not only will they use someone's work of art without permission they will link to them from where the originally creator has uploaded it. I'm not trying to be too strict but it's not nice or fair.
