Inside Soap Awards 2021

Coronation Street has dominated the Inside Soap Awards 2021 with an incredible seven wins.

The ITV soap claimed the year's top prize for Best Soap, while David Neilson (who plays Roy Cropper) and Sally Carman (who plays Abi Franklin) received individual acting prizes from the magazine.

Both Roy and Sally were involved in an issue-based hate crime storyline that saw Seb Franklin killed and Nina Lucas attacked by evil teen Corey Brent earlier in the year.

"This is ace. I'm just so happy to be getting these storylines ? and to be recognised for doing a good job is the best feeling," Sally said in her acceptance speech. "The writing of the storyline was so beautiful, so it was an honour to be asked to deliver those words.

"The great thing about Corrie is that it feels like a different job one month to the next. One minute I'm filming in Kevin's house, the next I'm in a film studio submerged in a sinkhole with a gun in my hand. Then, I'm doing a scene with Dame Maureen Lipman. It's just phenomenal to be paid to do this ? so awards are a bonus!?

Other wins for Coronation Street at the Inside Soap Awards this year included Jude Riordan for Best Newcomer as Sam Blakeman and Dame Maureen Lipman for Funniest Performance as Evelyn Plummer.

Emmerdale's Paige Sandhu won Best Villain Award for her portrayal of the sinister killer Meena Jutla, while Neighbours once again claimed the Best Daytime Soap trophy.
