Definatley! She is such a talented actress and has been with Eastenders for decades.
Yeah, completly agree
Yay! :)

Im glad Dot has been a comical character who has played some very dramatic storylines very well and deserves the recognition she has finally got.
I wanted her to get a nomination for best actress but at least she got this.
Her recognition wasm long over due
Now all we need is Letitia Dean and Tracey Ann Oberman to get thier well deserved recognition and I'll be a happy bunny. :)
well done to June she did lots before east enders, well deserved award :cheer:

From Todays SUN
EASTENDERS veteran June Brown WILL play Dot Cotton for another year — after agreeing a new £370,000 contract.
The deal is a huge relief for bosses, who faced losing her in a row over storylines months after big stars like Wendy Richard and Natalie Cassidy quit.
TV Biz revealed in February that June was threatening to leave over scenes which see Dot find a refugee baby abandoned in a church.
But the star has now been talked round and will sign on the Dot-ted line within days.
Last night a BBC insider said: “June is a fundamental part of the soap but she’s 80 and won’t want to work forever. It’s a huge bonus and a relief that she’s agreed to play Dot a little longer. Apart from a break in the 1990s, June has been with us since the show began back in 1985 — and life without her would be unimaginable.
“June may not always agree with her storylines, but she loves the character of Dot and wants to keep playing her. We are thrilled and will carry on finding the best plots and scripts to keep her happy.”
TV Biz can also reveal that June’s next storylines will involve her attempting to give up the fags when England’s smoking ban comes into force on July 1.
The chain-smoking pensioner will try to stub it out after she is told she can no longer light up in the Queen Vic or the launderette where she works.
BBC chiefs are now fighting for the right to smoke on set so characters can still be seen with cigs in their own homes.
An insider said: “Dot won’t give up for good. That just wouldn’t be realistic.”
Well that's great news, i'm really glad Dot is staying as she is part of the furniture. I don't blame her for wanting to leave before though..i can only see this refugee baby abandoned in a church storyline getting worse, June Brown isn't getting the material she deserves. Dot is an excellent character, and i hope the writers now take note and give her some good stories to work with over the next year.
I like the idea of her next storyline - giving up smoking when the ban comes in, i'm looking forward to this storyline, hopefully June Brown will be happy with the scripts that she will be working with. :)
Let's hope they dont ruin her character like they did Pauline's and so many others. Dot is an Eastenders legend, I dont want this to change, but it currently looks like she's getting ruined like every other character. What was last nights episode all about, other than a half an hour of sleep time?
Sorry to say it but she's really started to grate on me this past week or so. Never thought i'd say that about Dot :(
I'm afraid i have to agree with you Chris. Well last night, she started to grate on me, this baby she found in the church storyline is absolutely ridiculous! June Brown doesn't deserve material like this, i honestly don't blame her for threatening to leave before, i would have if i was her when i realised i would be involved in a storyline like this.
Oh I realise its not June's fault alan, i'm talking about the character of Dot is starting to annoy me. There's nothing wrong with the way June's playing her.. its just the stupid storyline she's been given.
It seems to be the way things are in Elstree Land. Instead of utilising their best actors they tend to concentrate on stupid and idiotic storylines. Heaven help all the storylines if the Prima Donna decides to return from panto land then everyones character will be changed to fit in with her latest Sensational and Explosive Storyline which will rock the square
Oh Alan you make me laugh.
I have to agree though, they have got an absolute treasure in June Brown yet she has to work with the awful storylines.
lmao. I don't think she'll be coming back alan, there's nothing left for her anymore.
Sharon will come back for Gary. Sharon wants to get involved in the Gazza strip.
June Brown is a treasure to EE, I hope she stays for a few years. Sadly, from what I've seen of this babystoryline this week, I have been hugely impressed.
I meant UNimpressed.
Why did I write the opposite? :o
Mind you, I think it was quite obviously I had made a mistake as the sentence didn't make sense/contradicted itself.
I read in News Of The World that she signed a contract at a higher pay than the one she's on at the moment, for when EastEnders goes 5 nights a week next year.
This week's celebrity birthdays include the EastEnders veteran and I think she is an amazing actress. HAPPY BIRTHDAY JUNE xxx :cheer:
Happy Bday June.. and may you have many more :cheer::cheer::cheer:
A 82 now that is something, and still going strong. Happy birthday!!!
Happy Birthday June......
Happy Birthday! i was so shocked the other year when i realised she was 80, she doesnt seem that old!
No she doesn't, I thought she was about 70.
Happy Birthday to her :cheer: :)
Happy birthday to June:D
I actually didn't think she was that old to be honest thought she was about 75/76.
shes looking good on it!
Happy Birthday June. Here's to many more.
EastEnders legend Dot Branning comes to the forefront of the BBC soap later this month as her troubles escalate in dramatic fashion. Shocked by the news of Whitney's disappearance and still feeling lonely as she devotes her time to caring for husband Jim, things get worse for the Walford favourite when she decides that she must order her new companion Edward to stay away - fearing that their friendship could be misconstrued after Carol refers to him as her "fancy man". As the days progress, Dot continues trying to keep on top of things at home but there's a sad moment ahead as she has a nasty fall down the stairs… Here, in an exclusive Q&A, actress June Brown chats to Digital Spy about Dot's latest storyline.
It was recently revealed that you've signed up to stay on EastEnders for another year. Was that an easy decision to make, or did you have to put some thought into it?
"Well it's hardly a revelation as I re-signed last year and, while I'm at it, the figure printed was wildly inaccurate. We don't get a set salary for the year, we are paid per episode so the paper must have just pulled this figure out of the air! As for the piece saying I had clashed with bosses over Dot's controversial storylines, this is also untrue - Dot hasn't had any storylines of that nature!"
There's been a couple of quite dark scenes featuring Dot recently, showing how lonely she is as she spends her time caring for Jim. How is she feeling about her current situation?
"Dot feels helpless. Jim is her husband and she wants to be there for him, but it's a full-time job caring for someone in his condition and she still has her work at the launderette and her life to juggle, so she's finding it very difficult."
How does Dot feel about Whitney's disappearance?
"Dot feels guilty that she didn't let Whitney stay with her when she asked her. She is shocked to learn Whitney is missing."
Is she glad to have found a new friend in Edward?
"Yes, she is happy to have someone who is able to converse with her after such a long time, as Jim of course can't."
How does Dot feel when Carol describes Edward as her 'fancy man'?
"Dot is horrified by this comment - she is lonely and has enjoyed Edward's company but would never be unfaithful to Jim, given her Christian beliefs about marriage. She definitely worries what people think and would be horrified if their friendship would be misconstrued."
Does Edward see Dot as just a friend, or does he want more?
"Edward has a lot in common with Dot and really enjoys her company. He probably would like more, but at the same time respects her and the fact she is married to Jim."
What can you tell us about Dot's fall down the stairs and how it comes about?
"Dot is looking after Jim but also rushing to get to the launderette in time but she loses her footing and tumbles head-first down the stairs. A distressed Jim calls out from the front room, but Dot lies unconscious on the floor. She lays there until Carol and Yusef come to her rescue."
Could this be a turning point for Dot, encouraging her to ask for help more often?
"Dot is a very proud, strong woman and of course stubborn as well. She is not one to ask for help. In fact, she has a falling out with Carol when she feels like she is being taken over by Carol after the accident. They make up and Dot accepts that she needs help but wants to retain her independence at the same time."
Now that we know Dot is staying in Walford for the foreseeable future, what do you hope we see from her in the coming months?
"Dot has storylines coming up over the next few months, but you'll have to watch to see what they are…"
Dot is such a well-loved character. From your point of view, what's made her so appealing to the viewers?
"Everybody knows a Dot! Whether it's your auntie, granny, mother or lady down the road or at the launderette."
After the many storylines that Dot has had over the years, do any stand out as particular highlights?
"So many. The two-hander and euthanasia storylines with Ethel, when Nick poisoned her, the scenes with the baby in the church, Dot's story in Wales, the scenes with Jim at the London Eye and the storyline with Dotty definitely all stand out."
Finally, after seeing various cast members come and go over the years, is there anyone who you particularly miss working with?
"I'm still in touch with so many, there are too many to mention! I'm still in touch with Barbara, we speak constantly. I'm also in regular contact with John Altman and I'm still in touch with Linda Davidson, Anna Wing, Nej Adamson, Michael Cashman, Leonard Fenton and Peter Dean. I also miss filming scenes with John Bardon, of course, but I'm still in contact with him regularly."
aka EastEnders' Dot Branning - is taking a six-month break from the soap.
Brown, who joined the cast as Dot Cotton just a few months after the show premiered in 1985, is taking an extended holiday and plans to write her autobiography during her time off, according to The Mirror.
"Some friends on the set feared she may be considering a permanent exit but EastEnders bosses are determined to keep her and they have offered her six months off which she has taken," a production insider said.
"She has admitted the filming can be exhausting and she feels some time off is long overdue."
Brown's agent said yesterday: "June has taken some time away from EastEnders to focus on her autobiography, but she will be returning to the programme."
An EastEnders spokesperson also confirmed that Brown is on a break "but will be back in a few months".
It has been reported that the 85-year-old actress originally suggested a year's sabbatical to producers.
Brown filmed her exit scenes last week and will be seen leaving the show around the middle of May.
